Agreed, just goes to show you don’t need a big name coach to bring an incredible package. Chris did it with ian for 5+ years before working with Hany and now Samson with his wife. Coaching helps with the mental load & motivation..as long as you have someone, doesnt matter who it is.

You should have honred Mikes success more. The jump from last years placing to being 2nd is amazing. His physique is breathtaking, his body is perfect for classic. No doubt he will be the next Mr Olympia.

You're absolutely right, and the score card shows it. If you look at the score card, two judges had mike beating Chris, this never happened before.

How could you be surprised to hear Urs was 3rd when they did a 2-man callout with Chris and Mike? It was clear Mike was 2nd at that point. Also I don't get why you're so attached to this narrativizing, "I see Wesley, Urs, and Ramon as the next to challenge" blah blah - like, why? Just because you've "seen" the division developing that way doesn't mean that's how it is going to go (reality almost never lines up like that). It was obvious to me that Mike was beating Urs this year. Narratives mean almost nothing. All that matters is what shows up to the stage. And Mike brought an insane package, very deserving of second, and even deserving of his one 1st place vote I'd say.

@@callumterblanche1491 I can see that. I prefer not being too lean in his case. The roundness and fullness with his level of conditioning leads to even greater separation and dug out hams. Any leaner and I think he'll just look emaciated, especially with his height and structure.

@@elvinatokero7388 Big chunk of balanced, symmetrical, proportional muscle on an aesthetically pleasing frame that flows well.* That, along with being in excellent condition (not the best on stage, but certainly 95% compared to the best). Samson was simply the least flawed. And if all were equal in conditioning and detail, yes, the larger guy with the prettier shape wins. But as is, Samson's strengths outweighed theirs, and their flaws outweighed his.
But the focus here is on how great they all looked. Don't be so bitter, my friend. Peace unto you.

Well, Milos' fans are still taking credit for this; stating that he laid out the "blueprint" for Samson's success and that Samson wouldn't have gotten to where he is if it wasn't for Milos. Im glad they gave it to Samson. He had the best balance of size, conditioning, and symmetry. They've been giving it to the biggest, or the most conditioned, but they finally gave it to the person with the best of all 3!

Congrats to Samson and his family. He had a balance of all the criteria you mentioned vs just conditioning.
I had Samson winning after the pre judging first call out. He looked amazing. My only concern for him was to dry out more for the finals,because Derick and Hardy usually get better as a show progress...and Samson had a history of fading...A shout out to his wife for managing him during this critical times of a competition.
Mike absolutely deserves it. He has one of the most aesthetic physiques. This v tape is insane! And he has made the most progress compared to the other. Urs has also improved a lot, especially his arms! Next year will be extremely exciting, I'm looking forward to it.
Samson deserved it, being a Hadi fan it was a completely fair battle, and it could have gone either way, as you can see Hadi & Samson were tied at Pre-Judging
But what a craz journey for Samson this ear, from losing at ARNOLD OHIO to dropping Milos as coach to bringing his best condition at Arnold UK, doing a ballsy move and doing France pro 2 weeks before the Olympia and taking backlash at his conditioning, to taking his shirt off at the press conference and taking the backlash again and ultimately winning the whole Goddamn Show????

Sampson is a deserving champion. He’s the biggest, most visually appealing and has the best aesthetics. If he really dials the conditioning in, he won’t be beat for years. Being peeled to the bone is deff a major factor when it comes to wining the Olympia but when you’re going up against somebody whose not only bigger but has better lines and is 4-5 inches taller, you aren’t going to beat that person.
One day, one day nick will finally understand that who wins a bodybuilding show is who LOOKS the best overall.

I've been saying this and people don't believe me for whatever reason, but the reason Wess doesn't place well at the olympia and places well in the Arnold is because they are 2 different competitions with 2 different judging criteria. I have no idea why people think Arnold placements are going to determine olympia placements, because they don't focus on the same thing, Arnold himself wanted a different competition for this exact reason. He had different ideas for what a classic physique should look like.

I like the way the judging has gone, where it’s the best guy on stage winning and not just a fan favourite over and over again. It makes it more exciting with no margin for error, no matter how many titles they hold.
This year Samson has won and it really is a fairytale ending to all that he has been through and the criticism he has faced and has come out the ultimate champion on the 60th anniversary of the Olympia.
