    Love it. Thanks for the B skip correction. Always did it like a hamstring dynamic warm up more then a speed mechanic thing.
    And finally understand SL cycling. Thanks Coach

    from your experience how long will it take an athlete to change his motor pattern assuming doing these drills 3-4 times a week ?

    • @overtimeathletes
      @overtimeathletes  5 лет назад +7

      Hard to say bc every athlete is different. The example above with Darius was 1 focused off-season. We worked top speed 1-2 times per week

    • @tdjkhazard4522
      @tdjkhazard4522 3 года назад

      Im not an expert or anything, but if you’re looking for any signs of noticeable progress for motor patterns I’d give it around 5 weeks til you see any big changes in that regard, that way you get enough time for those patterns to develop.

    Watched it twice! About the release the hamstring... shouldn't they pull the hamstring down? I've been teaching kick and pull. Which i can see how the kick is wrong. But why not pull in the b skip? Thanks, learned much.

    • @overtimeathletes
      @overtimeathletes  5 лет назад +1

      You're right but I utilize B Skips specifically to teach the release of the contraction and I use the Single Leg cycling to teach pulling down with the glute/ham. To be honest I even alter these drills sometimes pending the athlete but for the most part these are the simplest form of the progression I'm trying to achieve

    When i do the sprint drills. Should i touch the ground with my heels or just the foot bales ( forefoot )? Sorry for my english

    • @stevehash158
      @stevehash158 4 года назад

      Acceleration is toes in the very few first steps. Top speed is mid foot a.k.a planted..

    Does squatting and bench press carry over to deadlifting and vice versa or can either/or exercise be improved on without it ?

    If you keep doing this overtime will your sprinting form just get better? Do you need to consciously think about form whilst running or will your form subconsciously get better without thinking about it?
    Great video keep up the quality content

    • @bret9768
      @bret9768 5 лет назад

      Kieron the faster you become with the drills the more the pattern gets ingrained in your sprint. Focus on form first and then continuously add speed to the form. The more you do it the less you have to actively think about it.

    • @kieron9845
      @kieron9845 5 лет назад

      @@bret9768 so the faster you get doing the drills over time the more ingrained the pattern will be so your form will get better whilst you get better at the drills, is that correct?

      Kieron All good! Remember to take it day by day and put some time into recovery. Rushing athletics can really induce injury which will set you back.
