I feel like matchmaking does this on purpose. I'll go up against nothing but mono red for game after game until I switch decks and mono red is nowhere to be found. I'll go back to the other deck and it's mono red again. I personally think there's an algorithm to feed you wins from time to time to keep you more interested in the game. Yes this includes draw steps too. I swear after a couple of losses in a row i'll just draw EXACTLY what I need at the exact time. I've been playing since the game first came out. It's no longer a conincidence.
@fuzzyturtlez8994 you've got to take into account that Seth's assessment of which cards are "never played in Timeless" is just objectively wrong. Like, he's acting like going up against Ashiok in fetchland.format is incredibly low variance.
Seconds into that first match and I'm laughing so much that I don't think I need to watch any further because I'm already entertained and amused enough. Perfect!
Note how there is a cut right after Seth's disappointed look on the layline. He 100% said something that would get this video demonetized on RUclips. I for one would have.
Did you also see that he cracked a fetch on his OPPONENT'S TURN and grabbed a fast land AND PAID TWO??? It was not his turn so you literally cant use the land and it untaps on your turn.... Wtf lmfao
I've been having fun with a mostly mono-blue dredge deck in Bo1. Drowned Secrets can dump your deck into your yard quickly with lots of cheap blue spells and Brainstorm can put Narcomoebas, Creeping Chills, and Arclight Pheonixes back on top of your deck.
Just played against a hilarious deck that was built around “All Will Be One” 3RR enchantment with “whenever you put counters on a permanent or player, deal that much damage to target opponent, creature, or planeswalker” Then they just played battles and planeswalkers. Absolutely hilarious, and I had no response. Might make for a fun video
There’s actually no way game one turn zero his FIRST opponent drops a nightmare right on Seth’s head as he was talking about how unlikely that was to happen 😂😂😂
@@SuperPoochootrain Same 😂 I play a lot of dimir mill in historic with a lot of success and the absolute best card in the deck is glimpse. So much so, that I'll mulligan to as low as 3 to get a glimpse in my hand with a couple of lands.

10:00 Why would you get rid of the Glimpse? It's by far the best card in your deck. Also, with this deck it's often better to play Otherworldly Gaze on your own turn even though it's an instant. Sliversmote Ghoul's ability only triggers at the end of your turn so if you hit a Creeping Chill on your opponent's turn you're potentially losing value.
One or two copies of Haunted Dead would help this deck out abit. Excellent incase you end up drawing your Prized Amalgams, as it lets you discard them and immediatly trigger them to bring them to the battlefield.
You could still cast otherwordly gaze from the graveyard in this game, right? Cast it from hand and have it countered, to have it on the graveyard. Could've helped.
Hey Seth (or whoever reads this)- I have an MTG question. When you grab a watery grave at 4:38 , why shock it in? There's next to no time between when you grab it and your untap step, so why take the damage?
Well what did we learn this week about dredge-less dredge in timeless? 3-2 record, graveyard hate is brutal and surprisingly common, stifle and tidebinder are brutal, and the wrap-up is not in the vid 😢😢
i love dredge, but there were quite a few misplays throughout the games. dredge is one of those decks where you really have to know how to play it if you run into disruption. like letting an opponent untap with deathrite and scooze out instead of pushing hard to get as much value as possible while they're tapped down was an oversight
Maybe a dumb question. But, why you don't play Brainstorm in this kind of deck? I mean, is a lot of fetchs lands, a lot of self mill and you could easily return something bad from hand to mill it.
That last match kind of perfectly illustrates why I think stifle is pretty bad in timeless. Like yes, it's really funny to time walk your opponent on turn one but you also kind of time walk yourself without actually addressing the action in your opponents hand. If you are all in combo you probably don't have space for it, if you're all in control it's probably unnecessary anyway, and if you are midrange/agro like that opponent you basically give up your clock
Dimir Dredge is very popular in BO1. I have been playing it since day 1 of Timeless with a 65%+ WR ending up on the first page of untapped. Now different version are always in the first page. I never tried it in BO3, honestly idk what it would need to be viable, probably at least Hogaak and force of vigor.
i've seen plenty of gameplay but i've never played dredge. Is brainstorm instead of something like Gaze worthwhile, to put stuff back on top of your deck to mill?
I thought this was a best of 1 deck when i first saw it, honestly trying to play dredge in a format where like 3 of the top decks in the format are graveyard decks is ambitious. Rakdos breach, Yawgmoth, and Rakdos lurrus are all tier decks and all suffer to graveyard hate.
I played a version of this in Historic, and it ean a one of Wonder so thay you fan randomly jump your board. I would recommend dropping one of the self mill cards for it, i think.
This feels less “Against the Odds” and more of a meta choice. I run into this deck, basically card for card, all the time and it definitely puts up wins
I think Leyline of the Void and Leyline of Sanctity are just amazing in Timeless with how much the graveyard is used I think 1-2 cards maindeck for hate of it isnt a bad idea anymore even in historic with wizards and the like
Its amazing that minus the Bloodghast, Glimpse the Unthinkable and fetchlands, this deck is legal in Pioneer. There has to be some ok replacements to play it.
Been playing this dredge for two weeks now. Last season took it diamond 2, then hit all the players who actually sideboard good cards and got wrecked game 2 in Bo3’s.
So perhaps im dumb. Why didnt seth just wilt the necropotence in the third round of the first game so the opponent would have lost the life, but not got the cards? He could have wilted the leyline and gazed on the next turn
I really like this deck because the strategy itself is very interesting. But it won’t be so powerful that opponents can’t target it. And there is a certain degree of delay in winning, so players will not be caught off guard.
at 14:17 why didn't you cast all your mill cards while they had no G for scooze??? Could have Wayfinder+Supplier for 7 cards in the bin they wouldn't be able to exile. Instead you Narcomeba pass, then the following turn you cast all your mill cards into their untapped mana...
Timeless Dredge is the timeless version of modern affinity. The mechanic is in the name, but not in the deck. (I know mh2 made affinity actually a part of the deck but forget about that)

Main deck graveyard hate is for the Lurrus/DRC/unholy heat deck that almost everyone plays and for the Uro deck that everyone else plays :-P
not just for those, it hits a ton of other decks too
The main deck leyline is probably from all the Lurus decks running around
It's just for devotion. That list uses Necropotence but it's just a value pile, no storm combo.
The devotion deck tends to play it just to add black pips to the battlefield for Nykthos and Gary.
