Normandie, France, Andrea Doria, Cristoforo Colombo, Leonardo da Vinci are my types for the most beautiful ships ever built. I would add here Conte di Savoia. French and Italians used to built the art on the seas.
French Line Normandie is by far the best looker here with a design that still holds up today. Just a side note. The wires above the superstructure in all cases are not to scale (way too thick), the wrong color (s/b a dk. grey not black) and thus obtrusively noticeable.
I'm not complaining about the rigging of these beautiful line of ship models. They only represent a line of ocean liners who now and then graced the sea with their majestic. Presence.
Man! I love the United States, the Andrea Doria, the Norway and the Normandie! Here's a bit of info for you: I actually own a life-jacket from the United States and a few menus. On the subject of ship menus, one of the gems of my liner collection is an actual menu from the Italian liner, Andrea Doria.... dated a couple months before her tragic sinking in July, 1956! Now, my obvious quetion: Where did you purchase the magnificent replicas? They are stunningly breathtaking!
The most outstandingly distinctive, and beautifully stunning of all the ocean liners you have shown models of in this video upload of yours is the one at the very end of your production which you gave the least footage to: i. e. the HMS Queen Mary!
Not one of them is as lavish or as well designed from bow to stern like the normadie. The bow section of the normadie is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L😊😊😊.So sad that she sank in port and did not make it into the 21 century. Memory of her shall still live on forever.😔😔😔
CaptainSmith23 not true , the ss united states still exists and is in Philadelphia and I was just on the majesty of the seas queen mary 2 is still in service queen mary 1 is still alive and in long beach california
earni Last I know that.. S.S United States, Queen Mary 2 is a new ship and I've been on the Queen Mary in long beach many times, I was talking of the obvious..
Nice, but I miss the QE2. I have noticed, with a few exceptions, that all ocean liners had the same colour , except for the funnels and some white stripe on the hull.
Beautiful collection. As I understand it, the SS Norway, ex SS France, when Norway took delivery of the ship, two engines were removed. She would only have two props/screws. I have most of these models and I have always wondered which two engines and props were removed? Inboard or outboard? Thank you for your dedication, I build model ships for a living, full time, 28 years.
Beautifully crafted models Captain Smith 23! I am curious to know to what scale they are, and if they are all to the same scale? Excellent filming too!
I didn't not make these models although I have my own but these are crafted by SD model makers. I saw some images of their work and thought I should make a video of these awesome models. As to scale, well the one's that I assemble are I/400 and I would say these are 1/100 since you can see more detail... glad you liked the video Bruce..
She was until her final refit when they added two boxy decks to her height and lifted the funnels that much higher. Her graceful lean profile was destroyed by that ruthless profit driven overbuild.
Just wondering why the bridge on the QM2 model displays that weird drooping angle. I have a model of the QM2 and the bridge does not display like that.
Some random thoughts while watching the slide presentation: I wish we could make the United States looks like this model again. Do a cosmetic restoration to the exterior and put it on display. Modern cruise ships are offensive to the eye. Do the designers work on making them so ugly? The Rex was senselessly destroyed in WWII. If the city of Long Beach, CA could preserve the Queen Mary, why can't the US Government preserve the United States? The Norway should be modeled in its "France" configuration. Some of the changes made to that ship while in cruise service junked up its appearance a bit.
When I saw the Queen Mary in Long Beach some years ago, I was aware of its dimensions but was still a bit surprised at how small it seemed. I had seen pictures of The Normandie's bridge, and it was really beautiful! Queen Mary's bridge looked like something out of the 1880s. Just the conservative building practices of John Brown and Cunard, I guess.
There was this video of Ocean Liner models where things were wrong, out of scale, stickers for windows, Etc. I can't find the video.. Anyone know the title?
It's interesting to me that even Majesty of the Seas one of the first of the MEGA cruise ships still looks shiplike and reasonably graceful. In fact I still contend that Royal Caribbean does a better job of making their ships look attractive on the outside than any of the other modern ships. Of course no cruise ship has ever been as beautiful as the old ocean lines but there is a little thick around the middle and blocky and then there is downright ugly!!! But notice with Majesty she has a much sharper bow than many of the ships that followed her, beautiful open bridge wings, and superstructure set further back than many other current cruise ships. She also has a gracefully rounded cruiser stern instead of a squared off blocky transom. The most beautiful ship on this video to me is still Mauritania and then probably Normandie and finally the post WW2 Italian ships....... My favorites are United States and Norway, the one because of her record breaking speed and my pride that she is American and the other because I actually got the chance to sail on her as she looked here. I felt so lucky even then to be on her standing on the bridge wing during a bridge tour and looking down that long long hull as we were underway.
It's nice to see these well executed models which are of ships which have a lot of beauty engineered into them. The modern cruiser/superships are ugly AF, and without the pointy bow would look so much like a landbound hotel-which in many ways including business plan, they are modeled on.
The QM2 is definitely the biggest but far from the most powerful ocean liner. For example all the older Queens (Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and even the smaller Queen Elizabeth 2) were more powerful and faster.
These models are really lovely. A few corrections and comments. "Majesty of the Seas" and "QM2" are cruise ships, not ocean liners. The initial model is too short to be "United States", but is more likely, "America", which resembled the "U.S."; in my opinion, "Normandie" was the most beautiful ship ever constructed. "Norway" was the old "France", with God-awful modifications. The paint scheme shown is totally incorrect. Conversely, your "Cristophor Columbo" is very complete, as is the "Andrea Doria". "Bremen" and "Europa" retain some of their stack height differences, characteristic of their service years. Overall, very nice.
The QM2 is actually designed and classified as an ocean liner and she does regular transatlantic crossings a big part of the year. She's also a R.M.S. (Royal Mail Ship) and the only active ocean liner in the world today.
Queen Mary 2 is indeed an ocean liner though not as beautiful as QE2 or the ships that preceded her. It could be argued that Norway was also a cruise ship though she was converted from an ocean liner. Majesty is indeed a cruise ship, second of the new build mega liners behind Sovereign. But she still displays many of the characteristics that so many of the ugly modern ships lack, a finer bow entry, rounded cruiser stern and open bridge wings for example.
It was designed to handle rough trans Atlantic crossings, unlike most other cruise ships. It's an engineering marvel but can't hold a candle to the old Queen Mary in the looks department.
first of all when we saw this video we knew it will have Titanic cause we found out about Titanic in 1962 and we found the wreck sight in 1985 and then we found out how the Titanic sank in 2012 but in 2015 and maybe 2016 we dont know why the stern is more destroyed then the bow
+Braeden Mikesell The stern is destroyed because it was filled with air and the bow section filled with water, plus the stern didn't fall straight down, she spiraled out of control so when she hit the ocean floor her sides peeled away and the poop deck peeled back because of the water rushing through, the cranes came off on impact with the sea floor.....
Captain Smith answered your question succinctly! The Titanic was pretty much totally destroyed in the sinking. What a shame. I'm sure it's interior went all to hell in short order, too and way before the wreck was found. You don't submerge wood, carpeting, linens and tapestry in the ocean for very long before it's destroyed just like a house in a flood.
nice collection... the only thing I notice is the Bremen and Europa both have imperial German flags on the stern, when they served in the 1930s under the Nazies, should those not be Swastika flags?
Andrea Doria sank in 1956 off Nantucket after colliding with the MS Stockholm, 47 people were killed. Captain Piero Calamai asked one of his children if all the passengers were ok before he passed away.
dear captainsmith23I have seen your beautiful models They are all beautifull but non are realistic they all miss the human factor by beiing static I am an old seaman and get the shivers if I see these models Passengerships without passengers brrrrr that are goast ships for me I have been buidling ships as MARITIME ART You see my 1920 model of the dutch Plancius presented in the way how she realy was Anchore on the singapore roads taking cargo from the welknown singapore barge I hope you enjoy
I sailed on the NBC ships for D.K.Ludwig I and was european stowage coordinator for the Central gulf lines loading the lash ships understand this must be a short reply but I hope to hear from you Regards Henk
Those old ships looks so much better
SS Normandie is still the most beautiful ocean liner ever built. A true masterpiece in design.
CavDragoon. SS Normandie was an amazing ship.
I agree she truly was.
THE most beautiful of all time. Compare the Queen Mary which was launched a year after Normandie. She looked like an updated Olympic!
Normandie, France, Andrea Doria, Cristoforo Colombo, Leonardo da Vinci are my types for the most beautiful ships ever built. I would add here Conte di Savoia. French and Italians used to built the art on the seas.
50,000 views! Thank you to all the viewers.

The Norway used to be the SS France.
I'm not complaining about the rigging of these beautiful line of ship models. They only represent a line of ocean liners who now and then graced the sea with their majestic. Presence.
I don't think grey is a good colour for her but, still normadie to the world not even titanic can come near her beauty.😊😊
As a rule of thumb, when in doubt of what scale of something to put on a model, ALWAYS go with the smaller scale.
N O R M A N D I E 🇫🇷 🥇
the Queen Mary!
great and beautiful ships 😊
Beautiful models.

Hello Titan52berg. How did you come across the life jacket and menu? these models, you can find them on Savy boats
The most outstandingly distinctive, and beautifully stunning of all the ocean liners you have shown models of in this video upload of yours is the one at the very end of your production which you gave the least footage to: i. e. the HMS Queen Mary!
I believe you mean the RMS Queen Mary.
Yes!
I like the Europa better after they increased the height of her funnels
Not one of them is as lavish or as well designed from bow to stern like the normadie. The bow section of the normadie is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L😊😊😊.So sad that she sank in port and did not make it into the 21 century. Memory of her shall still live on forever.😔😔😔
You are right but I feel like the bow is too short.
Superb models, I particularly like the subtle weathering in the form of rust stains on parts of the superstructure' quite magnificent.
Yes they are superb. the real ships are gone but these models remind us of what once was.
CaptainSmith23 not true , the ss united states still exists and is in Philadelphia and I was just on the majesty of the seas queen mary 2 is still in service queen mary 1 is still alive and in long beach california

Gracias!
Good one.
Nice, but I miss the QE2. I have noticed, with a few exceptions, that all ocean liners had the same colour , except for the funnels and some white stripe on the hull.
Don't worry the Queen Elizabeth 2 is becoming a hotel ship in Dubai
update: she is officially now as a Hotel ship
Normandie the best ever
I dreamed about the titanic last night and I wanna go back
The real Norway went to hell in a hand basket.
Beautiful collection. As I understand it, the SS Norway, ex SS France, when Norway took delivery of the ship, two engines were removed. She would only have two props/screws. I have most of these models and I have always wondered which two engines and props were removed? Inboard or outboard?

1/100 would make them between 8ft and 12 ft long!!!
I never knew that the Norway was blue on the bottom.
With models liners you can see what you would never see while docked or traveling at sea. The Norway was a beautiful ship.
+CaptainSmith23 it was
She was until her final refit when they added two boxy decks to her height and lifted the funnels that much higher. Her graceful lean profile was destroyed by that ruthless profit driven overbuild.
1spunkymonkey2 me too
1spunkymonkey2 and I never knew that Norway was black on middle
what is the first music used called?
the one from hidden eye mysteries
The Majesty of the Sea is not an ocean liner, it is a cruise ship. Ocean liners and cruise ships are NOT the same thing!
Rant Gant You are right. too late to change it.
+Rant Gant Majesty of the Sea is a people barge.
+dan Hamakua majesty of the seas is a joke
I find modern cruise ships, while engineering marvels, to be most unattractive.
yea the majesty of the seas is a cruise ship for royal cribbean cruise line its royal cribbeans oldest ship in there fleet
,I like it from Reilly Prestia
Just wondering why the bridge on the QM2 model displays that weird drooping angle. I have a model of the QM2 and the bridge does not display like that.
+RCBM You noticed it? I don't have answer.
the bridge was not glued yet and if you look closely you'll see the support for the bridge is missing. I just saw it today.

@@egyptianmusic2822 well it actually does because we remember the souls lost at sea even the ship so it deserves to be famous

QUEEN MARY 2 IS THE MOST BIGGEST AND POWERFUL OCEAN LINER I KNOWN THAT SHIP I BOUGHT AS SMALL MODEL IT'S SO COOL

What prices are they going for?
i like the QM2
why does the 2nd ship in the video remind me of HMHS Britannic
where can i buy that particular model of the ss united states? its beautiful.
SD model makers, they are professionals. They have many liners to choose from...
what is all songs called
The song was the badinerie
Queen Mary 2 is a liner

Agree
What is the name of the first song?
Orchestral Suite No.2 in B minor.
I wonder how the Deutschland ship launches her lifeboats
Wath company do you buy those ship please tell me to buy an by company I mean if you boy the revell or to which
try SAVY BOATS.
The original Queen Mary was and is, without doubt, the most beautiful and perfectly proportioned ship ever built. Nothing comes close.

The maker of this model is inspired by ss united states
majesty of the seas is NOT an ocean liner btw titanic is my favorite
my favorite models here are the SS United States, the RMS Mauritania, the SS Normandie, and the SS Bremen.
Can you give me all those? (Without the base)
he didn't make them
plus they are own by someone and they aren't being sold
I am surprised that some one decided that Leonardo Da Vinci was a good ship name
???
Very poor compared to what I have done
United States is still decaying :(
P
and the queen mary 2 was launched in 2003 so how is it an ocean liner
it was classified as a Ocean liner
Passenger ships without passengers are ghost ships for me and out of this world. I prefer more realistic models sea life is not so glamourous
