Mike! I almost dropped as I was watching your cabinet card vid. I couldn’t believe my ears and eyes when you showed the pink card and said it came from Lewiston, Maine. That’s my hometown AND I work on Lisbon Street! What are the chances Mike???
Love your RUclips Channel. Thank you for everything you show us!

Am sure there’s cabinet cards in my parents loft of old relatives from the studio in Gateshead as it rings a bell from when my great nana passed and we sorted her old photos out. I remember seeing Gateshead on them and it’s just on the other side of the Tyne from us. we had no idea who most of them were lol I do have copy’s of old pics of relatives I do know so will have to give this ago. Thank you for more wonderful inspiration.

Love these too. I’ve got around 20 of them. My favorite is a square one with the picture a circle. Must be rare because I’ve never seen those before. I also created one digitally using a photo of my great grandparents wedding picture. Which already was a black and white image.

Hi Mike. Love your work, very inspiring. You have an Epson printer....do you ever have issues with printing thicker papers? For example, with the paper feed? I'm afraid I do, and it's driving me nuts!

Love these! I have several cabinet cards with backing designs on them and would be happy to share! Let me know if you would like me to scan and send them to you. I do not have a photoshop program so on some of them you would need to improve on the look. Thanks for the sharing your technique.

The carte de visite predated the cabinet card by about 15 years and was considerably smaller, typically 2.5 x 4 inches (64 x 100 mm). Both were usually albumen prints mounted on cardboard, mass produced inexpensively with a process patented by Parisian photographer André Adolphe Eugène Disdéri. End of lecture. Love watching you work.

Wonderful tutorial. If ever you find Cabinet Cards or Vintage Photos with surnames on the back, a genealogist can try and track down the families. There is a website called Genealogy Lost and Found, and one called "Dead Fred" that you can post vintage photos on for people to identify. Also every time your bare fingers touch these photos it puts oils and dirt on the photo. Just sayin!
Love the Louisville, KY, I live near there.
