“That's what I call craftsmanship writing, meaning, you know, I just churned that out. I'm not putting it down, it's just what it is, but I just sat down and wrote it, you know, with no real inspiration, based on a dream I'd had.” John Lennon, 1980
“This was one of John's favorite songs, because it literally came to him in a dream. He woke up and wrote down those words along with the melody. He had no idea what it meant, but he thought it sounded beautiful. John arranged the strings in such a way that the song really does sound like a dream.” May Pang

This song just leaves me in some kinda trance. So much one has to love this song as I do. We still miss u John😥
such beauty, what a beautiful man he was. H
In Gods care now , he was a mover a believer for the better so missed ! Do you think I like the Beatles ? Oh yes!! Rest In Peace Mr Lennon 🙏🏻❤️
Still my favorite post-Beatles song by John. I’ve always wondered what Paul would have done with the bass line …
yes, same here. I play it on repeat when I wanna chill out or when I'm feeling blue. Such a legend taken way too soon. 😥😥
@@UpsideDownWorld yes for sure 🥲
My favourite John Lennon song. Dreamlike and beautiful. Absolutely haunting.
Absolutely haunting
and Across the Universe
Its true, its one of those rare songs that's both beautiful and haunting at the same time
When Lennon puts out lyrics and music like this it's sheer magic.
Alway haunting.
This song always seemed to predict what happened to him in the end. "Somebody call my name (John) as it started to rain". Miss you so much John!
That's exactly what it does.
This is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard. Whenever it comes on the radio I turn it way up and float away 💕
41 years ago John Lennon left the world, but will always live in the spiritual world. It is my favorite John Lennon song as well my favorite song of 1974.
This song and "Across The Universe" ❤️
In my humble opinion this is the best song John Lennon wrote in his entire career, i mean all his solo albums and all that he did with the Beatles, as John Lennon said in the lyrics of the song "music touching my soul', this is exactly what happens to me when i hear this song, i listened to this song more times than any other song he ever wrote, the name of the song is great, the lyrics are great and the music is great, this is the perfect song of John Lennon, thanks John and thank you mr. Ramunas Bruzas for sharing.
Agreed. It wasnt really a hit and didnt get too much airplay at the time (1974) but to this day, its probably my fav "Lennon" song and there are so many :-)
Who is watching in 2024?
Love this song! Who’s watching in 2021? 😃
Me too - Philly Love
I’m listening to it right now in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada my friend 😊
Me
Listening in Michigan. Mind Games, Imagine and this are my top 3. Who could give this a 👎?
love this song so much
John's most spiritual song for sure. Absolutely beautiful & calming to listen to.
Probably the best Beatles solo track, in terms of Etherealism and Mystery....
Love that this song came to John Lennon in an actual dream, that is so trippy
Dreams; entry to the foyer of universas aka heavens
Yeah, if dream equals trip.
Beautiful music! Beautiful image! Lennon is singing and smiling with us.
Thanks for you! 🙂🙂
- Lennon, a brilliant mind! What a lack of songs that proclaim Peace and Love between nations and people! Truly a visionary!
Great song. Master piece.
MAGIC IN THE AIR...🌬💨
❤💚💛🧡💙💜
This song puts me in a hypnotic trance.
One of his best!! It was designed for trance's...
John you were a genious as we say in french"les meilleurs partent les premiers" translation "the best go first"
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Listening to this before bedtime. I miss John Lennon every day. Life's cruel. He was iconic and extraordinary
I love this song.soothes my soul.you are sadly missed john Lennon.
One of my mothers favorites.peace.thanks.
Me too this is also my favorite John Lennon song
I read that John woke from a dream hearing "Ah Bowakawa , Pousse, Pousse" at the end.
He said he dreamed of some girls screaming:
"Ah; bowakawa; poussé; poussé".
Forever a magical song.
@@27DavidPetria masterpiece
John had a mindexploding infatuation with the number nine, thats so much easier now, to see!
369, THE KEYS TO THE UNIVERSE, SO SAID NIKOLAI TESLA!
And 9 is for endings... completion of cycles.
From the higher power to the hand of john. The sensitive chosen one. He understood. The world wasn't ready for his beauty. Too sad. Lover of life and a life of love. Misunderstood just too late. Will 'they" ever understand 🎸
This and Mind Games are just magical.💫🧞♀️
Released in late 74, sold big, then all of a sudden it left the charts rather abruptly around mid 75 (April 75)
I WONDER WHY??
one album with beautiful boy
Epilog》This one of the most beautiful Lyric Audio Videos I have ever seen in my Life.John Lennon would have love this👍

My favorite Lennon song to I must say, speechless...13 in 73 when this came out, reminds me of that Christmas..... something so magical about that Christmas and this particular LENNON song....plus a ton of awesome music came out in 1973.......anybody my age , if your really into music like me you should not have to think that hard, some bands 2 albums that year.......
Like Robert Garcia has said already this song has so much meaning in the incredible sound and words. I have the LP 'Shaved Fish'. I really feel like I am IN a dream when I hear this wonderful sound. RIP John. Cannot believe you left us all over 41 years ago........just such a shock to the world. Taken way too soon.
Emagin all the music that we all were deprived of
As years flew by, like a blink of an eye, all the loves of my life, so many Who are no longer here. As I feel alone, remembering that big ole house that was alive with so much love and laughter, Times I cried , the look in his eyes that said so many things, never to see those eyes again. Seems so long ago. Was it a dream?
Such a beautiful way you worded your memories, I can so relate! May you treasure those memories forever.
Same. 😥💙
Doesn't anyone in the comments realize that he is talking about his death that happened 6 years later? Idk how many comments I looked at and nobody came to this conclusion?
@@ramunas874 My bad brother I must've missed that but everyone else seems to think it's just another great song. 👍
Maybe you're right I've always thought John and Paul were from another planet, they were so far in front of anyone else musically
Definitely was a premonition. I’m very spiritual. His death happened when he took a walk down the street corner where he lived, something he never did… but that night he did. It was raining. The spirit dance starting was his soul departing. Maybe his mother Julia was there. “The mirror go round, round” was his life review. “Magic in the air” was his passing. Heaven was “I believe, yes, I believe”. “Music touching my soul” was that he was in spirit form. “Rivers of sound” is a heavenly term, not earthly. The strange “Ah, Bawakawa, pousse, pousse” is a heavenly language of sheer joy, the joy of Heaven, spiritual world. What more can I say? No doubt, his death
I must amend my previous paragraph that John did take walks… it wasn’t that he never took walks down the streets before. But the night he was killed, John was riding in his car with his driver, BUT asked to be let out at the corner so he could walk the rest of the way to the entrance at the Dakota??? THAT was bizarre!!! Why did he do that??? Why? Oh & I left out, “Sudden warm, sudden cold” meant the heat of the bullets, the cold of his body dying.
@@cathypederson7602 - The river of sound was the gun repeatedly firing and echoing off the front of the Dakota. The bowa kowa is an approximation of the sound of the bullets being fired. The something warm-sudden cold is a familiar experience of anyone being shot.
Thanks for posting this great song by the greatest Beatle. RIP John.
Beautiful
Everytime i have a dream i want to remember, i listen to this
Merci pour cette musique superbe
Listening to this, it really does feel like you are in a dream. I wanna dance with those spirits! Thanks for giving us this gift, John Lennon!
lennon the master
Better than imagine in my opinion so melodic it's just brilliance in every Way
Oh yeah!!!
The word is ethereal Chris. 'Was it just a dream?' 'Took a walk down the street. Through heat whispered trees'. Brilliant, brilliant lyricist. You catching 'Understanding Lennon/McCartney'? This series is incredible! Hope you do.
@@MrBounce01I know, right?!? "Through heat whispered trees" Who writes like that? He was a treasure. A genius. Lennon and McCartney scored my life.
This song was written during the lost weekend with May Pang.I don't know why he came back to Yoko,no doubt he was haunted, when Yoko knew that May and John were gonna met Paul and Linda in New Orleans she convinced John to came back and the rest is history
Indeed, that was the legendary May Pang whispering his name in the song.
To save their marriage - Yoko set her up with him. Then after 'THAT' weekend, he had to come back to his real love.
Is someone singing with John in the “Ah! Bowakawa, pousse, pousse” phrases? Which is followed with the most beautiful musical note phrases, the violins, just gorgeous💕💕
Violins, guitars, strings, I guess I should say
My favorite song of John's. Happy Birthday! RIP DEAR JOHN.
Can’t get enough of this song!💖 I love it so much. Definitely a premonition of his departing this world. I hope, no matter what, that John saw how much he was loved. RIP🌹 We miss you, John
I love it
John Lennon rip dream touches my heart❤
It just the description of death. That was not only a dream, just a dream with the death.. very interesting this song.
Maybe a presagie of his own death
69 years old ,haven't heard it for sometime . But today ( Dec. 15 2021 heard it on radio while driving. I guess with age you see things differently. He didn't realize the vision, but looking back he's describing his death and ascension.
I think so to. Because the lyrics, hawbakawwa, prosaic pose means death in French.John was warned by those two angels. I love him
I think so to. Because the lyrics, hawabaka prosaic prosaic means death in French
@@robinnicewander7729 - Yeah, whatever with the French. But he needed some sounds to mimic the sound of gunfire echoing off the front of the Dakota and what he came up with is a pretty good match.
It’s now my favorite John Lennon song, too. Imagine was before. I love this song so much. I’ve heard it before, but never knew what it meant. It’s a premonition about his death
May Pang sang on this. Probably the "John" parts
It's good that people are realizing that. Now, all we have to do is figure out how the universe is designed, that anyone would be able to glimpse the future.
Love this ❤
Happy 83rd Birthday tomorrow John⛅🌈
John will sing "#9Dream" as he goes "Across The Universe."
RIP John i stll miss you.
so beautiful
Happy Birthday John, there'll be no other musician like you. No matter what my family says, you'll always be my favorite beatle.🎂🥃💚
🌟
Always loved 💕 this song.
You know, when John and Yoko were staying at their home in England the big white mansion, their was a vagrant man that was staying on Johns property. The vagrant young man landed by Johns door and the vagrant had questions for him. Off course there were other people at the time with John at the house so he wasn’t alone, Yoko was there too. John asked the vagrant man if he was hungry and if he wanted to come in and have some tea and something to eat.
The vagrant wanted to know what Johns songs all meant. John replied , they don’t mean anything , I just right songs , thats it. The vagrant was not old. He was in his 20’s and If I remember correctly he was wearing a United States jacket that everyone wore back then just like the one John wore all the time in NYC.
Always loved this song!

This song and Mind Games are two of the best songs of all time. Definitely in my top 50
They are on different levels though surely? 🤔
Like going on an acid trip without injesting it. So, I've been told.
Heard this song when I got out of the army in late 1973, some guy had a small radio on and this song was playing
When a beautiful, vivid lucid dream softly kisses you on your forehead to awaken you, then places a pen and paper in your hand gently then whispers softly..." now write down what I've just shown you..." 🙂
Perhaps one of his best overall songs along with “Watching the Wheels.”
I'm watching now 21st August 2024.
Was it just a dream
@@ramunas874 Lennon was a psychic before it became as embraced as it is today....He got the messages across by the songs he wrote.
This one is a Masterpiece.

Absolutely my favorite Lennon solo song. It’s very different from most of his solo work: non-political, with a personal spiritual feel. I wonder if he was thinking of George Harrison when he wrote it…
No, if you listen, he was predicting his own death. Somebody call out my name as it started to rain (bullets) - music touching my soul, something warm, sudden cold.
@@david_cop_a_feel7538 Of course the song is open to interpretation, but Lennon himself said it was about an actual dream and the way it left him feeling. He said he “churned out“ the lyrics “with no inspiration” other than to replicate the feeling in the dream .
@@SaintVodou - The song is not open to interpretation, it's about him witnessing his own death years before it takes place. People often call lsd trips dreams.
@@david_cop_a_feel7538 EVERY SONG EVER WRITTEN IS OPEN TO INTERPRETATION-unless you recently assumed control of the Matrix, and/or have the handwritten notarized letter from John Lennon saying, “YOU and YOU ALONE will interpret my music, infallibly”.
Love this!
Laurie Burton (stage name) helped John with his censorship issue. I know because my wife helped her across the rainbow.
What needed censoring?
@@floogelhornzzz4770 The original lyric was 'pussy pussy' Burton suggested changing it to 'pousse pousse' to avoid problems
@@markmorey799: And I heard in a radio interview long ago that John was delighted to learn that in French _pousser_ meant "to grow."
Love this song . So relaxing😊
My favourite Lennon song. Just hypnotic.
Only John Lennon could write and sing something so dreamy and ethereal
Never knew all the lyrics! 👏👍😊🎶

Almost sounds like a George Harrison song beautiful

I can't figure out what this song is about. Hell, I'm still trying to figure out the chord progressions. But, it is my fav Lennon song.
Back in high school, this song sounded so supreme on my car stereo. Every detail heard so heavenly

Some similarities between this an ELO’s “Can’t Get It Out of My Head”. I wonder who was influencing who?
Música celestial igual a john lennon.
Love it.,., His voice is one of the best so haunting.
John borrowed much of this song from Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers to Cross"
Well this is a nice John Lennon song That was a big fan of lenins But this song is far from his very best song and it's not even close yes it's beautiful and spiritual and quite lovely But it just anywhere near as good as song As all the songs that he wrote I like most of the songs on his 1st solo album plastic Ono band more than I do this 1 It doesn't songs John Lennon's that are much better than this 1
