Yuuuummm. We don't have those Hawaiian sweet rolls up here in Canada, but there's sweet rolls with a French name (escapes me atm🤔) I think they'd be same. @@ThebateskitchenZach- I bet you have a great “chili sauce” recipe. I’ve tried a few but not what I was looking for- if you could share a recipe sometime. We enjoy chili dogs all year long- Thank you-
Honestly, I’ve tried several different chili recipes for hotdogs, but my favorite is incidentally from South Carolina as well and it is Foster Farms chili! But the only place you can buy it that I know is in Anderson, South Carolina! Every time we go to Papa Bill’s we get a few tubs of it!
Don’t cut off the hairy end of the onion next time and you won’t cry! And awww, Whitney is the best! Yall have such a sweet family! Love that I can keep up with all the bates’ even after the show ended!
Wanted to say how wonderful it was to hear you compliment your wife Whitney the way you did. I'm sure she appreciates and loves you that much more.Such a beautiful family you all are. @@Thebateskitchen AMEN and I pray for you and your family and God's continued blessings. Your family is an inspiration and I enjoy watching and your recipes!
Pro Tip: when cutting onion first cut it down the middle with the outside layers still on. Right in the middle of the roots and the top pointy part. Then, cut the little top pointy part off and just half of both root ends. Go ahead and peel. Cut with those little root ends still on to help hold your onion halves stable. This method also makes the peeling process easier and will prevent you from crying.
Your recipes are amazing! Even as a experienced cook I have learned a ton! A few things I would like to share are about food safety and quicker prep. Wash your hands after touching the raw meat before touching the salt container. It prevents cross contamination. I have been cooking for years and now use disposable gloves for raw meat so I can prevent contamination and can move faster! I also have a garlic roller to get the skin off and automatic pepper grinder. They both save a ton of time.
I do wash after raw meat, but we don’t always include that. Also with the salt container, I just put salt in it for whatever I’m cooking that day, and then dump excess and wash it out when finished. We try to cut as seamlessly as possible, but because we are using tripods, there’s not a lot of cleanup and washing hands on camera!

Sounds wonderful to have another chef on with great tips. What a wonderful demeanor you have during these shows. So pleasant to watch!! They do make onion goggles. I’ve never tried them but I’ve heard they work well!
I couldn’t look any goofier than I normally do! I reckon I’ll head over and watch some QVC til they pop up!
Zach, Oh my goodness!! I made it today and my house smells SO good!!! I even made my own barbecue sauce and coleslaw so I feel a little bit like a chef!!! Love the videos!!
So glad you enjoyed it! It does make such an aromatic kitchen when is cooking!
Totally!! And my hubby loved it!!
This is SO GOOD. I've made it twice already within two weeks time!
It’s honestly addictive and so much easier than you would think!!! I’m so glad you like it!
Here’s an onion tip for you. Put it in the freezer for 15-20 min before you need to peel and chop it and your eyes won’t water.
Gonna try these
Great video! Don't change a thing, you are doing an amazing job!
Thank you so much! I love getting to do this!
I love that you tell it like it is, I went to the store and left a pack of chicken at the store. The next day I went back, bought more chicken, somehow it slid out of the bag in the trunk, and we found it 2 days later…yuck!! Mistakes make you real!❤
Oh no! That would be awful! Well I make some real mistakes for sure!
My mouth is watering watching this! I need to make every recipe you have posted so far! This bbq looks unbelievable!!! 🤤♥️
So glad you are enjoying this! Thanks for watching!

I sure do wish I knew you all personally because I would so enjoy fellowshipping with you and your family!! I need that in my life! God bless you all. Have a wonderful week.
You are so sweet! Maybe one day, you never know! Thanks so much for watching!
Could we maybe have an episode of cookware/kitchen gadgets you use and/or prefer? Love the channel and all the videos so far! Great job Zach (and Whitney for all her help 🩷) 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
Honestly I’m pretty basic! I normally grab whatever is close, and repurpose a lot of things!
You are really so good at presenting and explaining. A tip to you on onions. If you take a match and put it in your mouth with the sulfer on the outsire, no tears. Also, once you make the first cut, put both halves of onion in cold water for less then a minute..no tears. Are you putting the written recipes anywhere on your site yet?
Thanks so much! I’m going to try some of these onion tips!
I made this for my family and it was amazing. Making it again as a meal train meal for a new mama and daddy.
Love y'all, keep be the real you as God created you!

You are so welcome! Thanks so much for watching! Tell your boys feel free to send me any tips!
I love bbq. I grew up in North Carolina and on that Carolina bbq. I’m gonna try this recipe one day. I have a chuck roast in my freezer.
Time to start the thaw! Carolina has some of the best bbq imo! Love it!
Don’t open your mouth when you cut an onion and it won’t bother you as much. Also don’t cut the root end off and that will make slicing and dicing easier. I’m so glad I found your show!
Thanks for the tip! And thanks for watching!!!
YUM!! Tried this today!! So easy and delicious. Thanks for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed it!

Keeping it real, love it
Thanks!
That bbq looked SO GOOD!
I promise, words can’t do it justice!
This is my favorite episode yet. Cant wait to meet yall in July.
So exciting!
A little tip I learned from my Momma. If you run the cold water and cut your onion near the sink it really cuts down on the eye burn..
If you chill your onions for 30 minutes. Then cut off the top and peel the outer layers leaving the root end intact." It's the root end that has the highest concentration of the sulphuric compounds that cause your eyes to tear.
Very interesting thank you
Gonna try this sometime
I thought I was the only person who put mayo on bbq!! It's so good!
I learned that from Whitney I think! She puts mayo on everything! But she mostly uses Hellman’s
Love hellman's mayo!!❤❤ 😊
And I grew up putting it on everything! Is she possibly originally from PA??
Knife skills are looking good.
I’m working on it! Still got lots to learn but having a ton of fun!
Oh man there's no other way to eat a BBQ sandwich! Even when I order a pork plate, I order a side of slaw and load my fork with both for each bite. It's the contrast of the cool, creamy, tangy sweet slaw with the BBQ that makes it heavenly.
It’s a match made in heaven!
Another great cooking lesson!! Now I'm hungry 🤣
Thanks for watching! I think that’s a good thing?
Are u going to give us the recipe for your homemade bbq sauce? Also I absolutely love how u always acknowledge Whitney and how special she is to you! Such a loving couple 🥰
I’m going to try!

Awesome job. You seem so much more relaxed. It warms a heart to see your love for family.
I’m trying! Thanks so much for watching!
IM sorry. I am a talker...lol You should do a BBQ trail thru NC and SC. Go from western to eastern NC and show the difference in the BBQ styles...its really interesting. From what part of the pork they bbq in western to what they BBQ in the east of NC...and their sides. I love me some Hush puppies with chunks of onions!!! woo weee.
I love the bbq in Carolinas, but not gonna lie, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and TN have some pretty good ones too!
Really enjoy the recipes you share!! Thank you
