Hey guys, bit of a weird one today, didn't quite have as much time as I would've liked but hopefully these first impressions help you decide if you like this game :) Thanks for watching!
The only thing that feels like Dark and darker is it's visual presentation. But Dark and Darker is dungeons and dragons. Dungeonborne is Diablo. The customization seems to be completely Diablo esk as well. I guess Warhammer 40k is next lol.
Honestly I like the combat in this game allot more. My biggest beef w DaD is its slow and the attacks don't feel like they have impact/power, and this game does a good job of picking up on things DaD lacks. I'll probably pick this game up so be cool to see more content featuring it.
The actual mechanics behind combat are simply not good. There's one light attack combo and a single charged attack--that's less overall moves than skyrim. If you're going to remove the depth of dodging via movement, jumping, crouching, they need to make the combat have more depth than "commit to full combo" or "charge heavy attack"
In DnD, the crouch mechanic + waving your mouse like a mad man is a very st*p*d mechanic. I also prefer the way combat feels in DB. About block, you can perfect block to avoid all damage, classic block only reduce damage.
Movement feels to slow. Combat is a bit clunky feeling. PVP feels ok but the sluggish movements kind of kills it for me. I like the way the skills/abilities are done. I also like the way casting and caster weapons work. I think it has a really good chance of being a good competitor though. Just needs to clean up a few things.
I love DAD. But Ever since Druid, I hope this game stomps DAD. I honestly have no idea how Druid made it past play testing. I thought warlock was broken, AND IT IS, but Druid is like if you gave a 6 year old some crayons and said “make a new character for dark and darker.” And being a 6 year old he’s like. “He can turn into a chicken.. and a rat.. and a Panther… and a BEAR! and he can heal! And he can use a spear.. and he can trap people, and he can close off doorways.. and he can send an npc after you” well what if he gets hit? He should die quickly right?) “WELL NO, actually he turns invincible when you hit him, and can run away as a rat, heal to full, and do it again.”
Dungeonborne has a Druid class as well… maybe you aren’t aware that DaD is in early access? Everything is subject to change based on community feedback.
I hope this shit pops off I bought DaD and it ran for 4 hours next day wouldn’t start ever since wouldn’t start, got it on steam when it went free to play and out of 7 friends that played it 1 has over 5 minutes I’m assuming the rest can’t start the game same as me, hope this game kills that game or at the very least absorbs all the people who wanted to play DaD and couldn’t
Definitely up to preference, I've had the opposite experience with my group. Only thing id give Db over DaD rn is the maps which are actually very well made and diverse
13:26 stop apologizing for the dog and give us a dog face reveal

Warhammer fantasy is better
Exactly my thoughts. It feels like a first person Diablo 1 extraction game.

@wolfblade019 be good to see more combat capabilities. Simply saying I think it's better than DaD's "swing a sword in slow motion once then back up"

Just from the Map i think i may enjoy it more, looks Demon Soulsy, and not as claustrophobic as DaD (which is fine i enjoy it too)
14:20 lol "fireball!"
imagine playing with mage (pryomancer) and you can fight with a sword and a shield
