Mouse smoothing option was changed overnight, so it's no longer an issue. Shows the devs are listening to feedback which is a good thing. What are your thoughts on this video, let me know below. Edit - Throwable spam has been nerfed and gear gap has been made more fair in the recent patch.
My biggest complaint, not performance or balance related, is that the game isn't dark enough, I don't have a good reason to use torches. And I could reduce brightness on my end, but it would put me in a disadvantage, and it doesn't look good anyway. The game doesn't feel designed with darkness in mind.
Yeah I stopped playing Dark and Darker because it felt like solo wasn't catered for. Loving the DungeonBorne demo so far. Really enjoyed Arena but then the gear is free :) I wonder if the lose all your equipment is the best game design. Would be nice to keep potions.
The map is really leagues ahead of DnD , the Ui in general feels good . Player movement is slow but improves with some mouse tweeks and can be affected by fps which is improved with some graphic settings ( clearly some optimisation needed ) . Caster classes are much simpler with 2 powers/spells and then the element damage from your staff it feels kind of basic but this is compared to DnD's 2 hotkeys to open 2 different radial menus to select and then cast which is also just a bit s**t and puts a much higher skill cap on caster class's than mele or bow users . The PVP ARENA mode where you play 3 vs 3 is fantastic for learning your class / playstyle with no risk .With free high end gear in the lobby to kit out your team and spec in to the additional perks , throwables laying around the map to use during matches . great for figuring out what those additional perks actually do when the rubber meets the road and potentially save you a lot of gold experimenting with your hard earned dungeon stash's .
ive played it a bit, honestly wouldnt have known about it if you never streamed it its fun but the game definitely has its issues, i like the more arcadey feeling of the game overall but things like the limited healing items in the merchant with a 20 hour restock is kind of crazy
I have never purchased a healing item, you get a huge amount of craftable from looting. But I agree timed limits on healing isn't great, DaD had this for a very long time until very recently they changed it to unlimited. I remember having to go into matches with no heals, which never feels great.
I feel like potions should always be for sale, and crafting them should be free. That way if you want to clog up your inventory with crafting mats to save gold, you have the option. But you don't have to if you don't want to.
I hate how little say so we have in stats when leveling up, meaning no say so at all. Also I hate how teams can not extract together. Each person needs their own portal on the team.
i like the combat more and i think the overall presentation is leagues above dnd, but the lack of customization or player interaction makes it way less memorable. i just wish the Mordhau devs would give this type of game a shot lol
Yeah priest aka cleric feels bad to me for solo. The mace is garbage. The speed boost feels nice. Definitely a teams only class, even the passive skills are for teams.
Liked the video and gave you a like abd a sub. You said you haven't played trios so I'm gonna throw a bit here- it feels awful. It has full friendly fire like dark and darker but the map corridors are, for some weird reason, smaller than the solos map. There are so many fights you have to go in single file or you're just going to hit each other, and a warrior can very easily whirlwind and hit the entire enemy team whether they're good enough to block or not. I love the solos map but the trios one imo is just wack. Also I agree with you that you move just a tad too slow, but idk if full stop on inventory open of only two slots is a "bad" as much as a design choice. I also come from dark and darker, voyager rank on my main, and I actually hate the whole playstyle of sheathing your weapon, popping ten pots and bandages, ripping off your clothes to move faster, etc. I do it cuz you have to, but I've always found it incredibly goofy. In this game I feel like they're trying to limit your options so that when a fight happens you generally have to commit to it. I feel like that's on purpose- but yeah I agree a tad more speed and the ability to disengage like at all would be good. Enjoyed the video a lot :)
I actually disagree with you entirely on the trios map. I feel like the map has a lot of work to be done, but generally it seems to double down on the idea that you need to commit to fights, and you're rewarded or punished depending on the decisions you make. There are certain areas that are extremely open, and certain areas that are very congested, and whether or not you take the fight depends on the classes your trio is running. Since my team runs fighter with the perk that takes away friendly fire alongside a cryo, we love congested fights, but we lose really hard in open areas to Pyro/Rogue based teams. I think the map overall allows for several different playstyles.
Amazing that people complain about petri when Cryomancers can freeze you while healing and being immune to damage before they 100 to 0 you with lightning staff while you are frozen with 0 counterplay.
the fact that someone can just wield multiple swords on their inventory as the Swordmaster? (i forgot the class name) and 1 shot light class like rogue and wizard is very bugging me
I'm already invested in DnD and this game seems to me too similar. Though if it serves the purpose to keep DnD developers on their toes and worried about competition, welcome then. That will nake DnD devs more willing to improve their game
I just tried it now myself. They need a ranking system. I went into casual and first time playing this game with my bro in law. We went up against guys with legendary and there soul purpose was to hunt us down and kill us. After my bro in law said we are probably going to be ok cause he was a small lobby with just one other group. Well they ran past all the enemies just to hunt us down. As a new player I already uninstalled the game. Unless they have some kind of ranking system I wont touch this game cause your going to have a crap load of toxic players miss using this system.
i was excited to play this game and see how it stacks up to darkndarker but i searched up the anticheat because id never seen it before and.. its a kernel level (full control over your PC essentially) anticheat owned by none other than tencent (CCP). hard pass.
Good video man, I agree the competition for dnd is great and Im aware the game is very early but the whole game just feels so flat and lifeless in my experience. The game feels like a more arcade-ie dumbed down version of dnd with a stolen Diablo 4 aesthetic.
sadly the playtest is over rly had alot of fun , the game is allready much better then DnD so much more polished and so much more QOL. DnD had like 2 years and all they did is new classes instead of improving the game in quality. The only bad thing Dungeonborne has is the performance , it performs super bad even worse then DnD on release. Came back to Dnd today and had like 180fps while i struggle to have stable 120-140 in dungeonborne. Never saw those stones in my game amethyst rubys etc probably they got removed? cant wait for the EA release :)
This game feels like it would be a good DaD replacement when servers or down or DaD is in a bad spot, but not a full replacement. This game just feels too much like a mobile game and way too slow
It could be if DaD doesn't fix their server issues (Among other things like barb, teaming) and this game continues to improve once out of Alpha. Only time will tell
The Pros: A mashup of old school DnD games with a battle royale and layered with looter shooter aspects. The Cons: Controls are horrendous. Every character is unbelievably slow and there is no sprint option. Items/gear cost A LOT in time and effort for each individual piece and... guess what? ALL of those items, YOUR ENTIRE INVENTORY, is lost when you die. Unlike battle royales where you may have lost 20 mins of effort, in this game you lose hours if not days. Matchmaking is truly awful so expect to lose everything if you dont come in with a full team on discord. (Not unusual with these types of games but the penalty/loss is WAY worse.) Oh yea, it’s also just a knock off of another game that also cant get any of the above right.
so much of this looks like a copy of DaD just SLIGHTLY different, the UI, the inventory (dunno if that counts as UI), the combat, etc. from what i saw of hell in this game even that looks the same. the map he's on looks good, only bad thing i can say about it doesnt seem as atmospheric as DaD cuz everything is so bright. basically i think this game was springboarded by DaD (by copying a shit load of stuff from it) which is funny considering the ongoing lawsuit on the DaD devs have to deal with. competition will be good for both games tho. monopoly on a specific genre of games is bad, as seen by creative assembly with their total war titles.
I love the atmosphere it gives in the map the classes are more fun and work better I think this game just needs a bit of polish I don’t like the blocking and parry system it’s really clunky it feels like to me so far
I tried liking this game, but I honestly think it's one of the worst games I've ever played and I feel like I'm probably the only one who has this thought. Everything feels sluggish, and combat is not fluid at all. I also spent way too long finding extract points which just made me completely bored of roaming the map just trying to leave, just to be cornered by a player and various mobs. Another thing is the lighting, it's abysmal. Trying to circle mobs in a room only to get completely stuck on something that I can't even see. I love the aesthetic of the game however, I think it looks great and I really like the concept of the game itself, the movement, combat and lighting severely need to be overhauled.
Yea man I agree, feels like a bad asset flip of dnd with Diablo 4 wanna be graphics that hasn't been fully cooked. Don't even get me started on the 3player map either... And literally all the enemies are just ripped from dnd
@@jacobhardy3341 have you played dark and darker? It's literally the ONLY comparable game. If ur comparing to literally ANYTHING else than that kinda tells me everything I need to know. Go play buldurs gate or D4 then, this genre clearly isn't for you.
@@jacobhardy3341The reason for them having the same assets its because they both use the same technique of buy them from the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
Am I the only one having a hard time going back to dark and darker after dungeonborne? The production values, abilities and combat built around feeling fun to use, and just much better dev communication felt so refreshing. Cryos felt oppressive in trios and they patched it within like 48 hours. And that patch didn't cause massive bugs that required a rollback or something. It really made it feel like the dark and darker devs have a good heart, but really don't have the experience in game development to pull this off on their own. Mithril feels SOO much more professional and competent already.
@@hakuryu5874 I was talking about Dumbgeonborn vs dark and darker lol, dark and darker just feels a million times better to me but go off man play the rip off asset flip if that’s what you’re into 😂 Imma keep grinding high rollers rather then jump on a game that’s already the same thing

Dungeon Borne is cool, not my cup of tea, but DaD needs competition in order for them to keep pushing / innovating.
Yep agreed. Regardless how dungeonborne turns out competition is a great thing. I hope for both games to be successful we don't have to choose 1
Been having fun with this the little bit i have gotten to play. Good video brotha earned a sub.
Thanks appreciate it
I think i like dnd bit better when it doesn’t have lag and or rubber banding. But this game still pretty decent
Yeah I'm kinda waiting for ironmace to fix their game/servers right now. It's gotten really bad.

The Boss should drop a key for the chest or just unlock the chest after it dies.
Pyro and cryo when you hit some of the bonuses can be good long range
This game instantly felt more fun and polished than dnd imo
Im ngl im just eager to try something else and play whichever feels better only having DaD is kinda sadge
there is a counter to petrify and is blocking the attack
