- in part 2 you will see what it took to get this 1971 R/T dodge charger running and driving but the question is...will it actually run and survive the races
I mean two seconds into the clip I'm laughing too. What a joy it is to see this man do what he do.
This should be the poster child for zip tie drags. Totally in the spirit of the event. Great job
We got a sick deal at 19% APR for our Scat what you think!?!?!?
Happy birthday 🎂 1:14
As someone who is currently building a 71 Charger restomod it hurts my heart to see that RT in such a state but at the same time I am amazed at the transformation and your willingness to even try and give it at least one more shot at glory. Good job, heard it ran 12's!
This shows a huge amount of respect taking a car "like this" out of a jink pile & enjoying giving it new life & sharing that joy, hope it gets tons of views & bunches up their tear drop soaked Mopar panties.
You aer a true gentleman for giving your competitors a chance by limiting the fuel flow to that beast!😁
Straight out of Mad Max! Birdsong is a genius!
I like your style working in the Dodge 😊
My Econo Valve Job is as follows:
1. Put the valve in a lathe (drill press if you don't have one). Use a file to carefully, evenly take down the outer edges of the valve trying to keep the 45 degree until the valve is clean of wear grooves.
2. Use a gasket punch and punch three dots 180 grit a little bigger than the valve seat and using spray adhesive glue the dots onto the valve 120 degrees apart. Lube the guide and spin the valve with a hand drill working it on/off the seat until it cleans up. It may take numerous "dots".
3. Lightly use fine valve grind compound until the seat knowingly conforms to the valve. You don't want to take much otherwise you will regroove the valve.
4. Put the valve back in the lathe or drill press and gently clean the surface with 320-400 grit. You are seeking to remove (at least diminish) the grooves from the lap compound. Punch three 320-400 dots, glue them to the valve, spin in the guide and seek to remove or diminish the grooves left by the compound.
5. Put the valve back in the lathe or drill press. Use a fine file at a slightly more than 45 degree angle and attempt to remove any elevated metal on the valve where lapping compound might have indented the seat. Be careful the outer margin doesn't get too thin. Use the seat as a guide as to where to stop (don't touch the newly formed seat). Do similar on the upper side of the valve seat. In essence what you are doing is putting a slight 3 angle valve job on the valve rather than the seat. Why? Because you can and to ensure there is no raised edge to catch as the valve and seat wear together over time.
I've done this on numerous engines and it has always worked well. Whether the seat and valve are an exact 45 degrees is not important, only that the angle of the seat and valve match (SO KEEP THEM NUMBERED!).
Man you are my hero . Iam Mopar fan I think what you do is really cool.🎉
17.11 you left a camera in there. That’s what that weird noise coming from the bottom end is. Great episode.
Lol
Ingenious and historic…You are ready for Third world racing!
I love it got to see run at Duck Tape Drags it was awesome super cool meeting you thanks for autographing the spoiler on my car it made my day
Pure Engerneering genius Chris
GOD BLESS U ...U R TALENTED GOD SHINES ON U ....LOVE ALL YOUR MOPARS .BUILD SOME GTX ROAD RUNNERS.
Happy Birthday Mopar Brother, it sounds like a beast, with the Liberty Bell exaust, I seen Rust Buckets duct tape drags, it seems he had a 2 speed 727 trans in it, it fell on it`s face every time it hit 3rd gear in his Satelite. I just knew somebody would be upset you were modifying a true 71 R/T, your knowledge of how everything on a car works, then making a list and making it all happen, and turning the key and BAM, another Mopar Monster is born, too cool.
Happy birthday, Birdsy!
I have seen some of the most damages, rotted almost non existant vehicles put back together and to me, it's like magic. so so far beyond my skillset. I would not have given that car a second look, but you... you knew you could fix it up. So i'm excited so see you straighten out that body for sure.
You never fail to make me smile, thanks Chris !
Dude ‼️‼️ you work so fast I have been watching you for years. I think you could have you’re own shop/show i’ll bet you could crank out quite a few cars in one year with the right crew ,, better than graveyard cars 👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Chris thank you for the video of sorry I'm a little bit late but Happy birthday and hopefully many more to come
Birdsong you ROCK!! Thank you for the great video content! IMHO you should tie a chain around the drivers rear of that car tie the other end to a light pole (Wooden) or power pole (Wooden LOL) and drive forward at a predetermined rate of speed WHAM! It won't take away from the "Junkerupness" of it but the brake lights might be viewable and the wind might have a better chance at some dynamics LOL. But that's just my humble opinion.
Good work, looks awsome. Happy Birthday 🎂
That is Bad Ass !!
Amazing Skills !!
Chris, I saw that episode with Jed back when was great !!
If I ever hit the lottery and buy a old mopar u sir would be the person I’d send it too for repairs!!!

Mopar People are hoarders... And a little weird too 😀
Nice Work!
Happy birthday man. Today we celebrate adictions!! Not al of them are bad😂😂
You shouldn’t let that car die. Fix it up. You have the talent that I wish I had.
Yeah but you had the rings off at 18.39 now at 1881 the rings are on it cool build Chris happy birthday Mr.second gen charger you're the best at it
great job on the junkyard 71 r/t charger..
You crack me up. You keep on. 😊
RIP Sami still miss seeing that dog around 😢
I wish I made it to the Duct tape drags this year, I was planning to go just as a spectator, but I woke up late and driving from Globe to Tucson I wouldnt have gotten there until the afternoon.
The car kicks ass man!
LOVIN' the long video!
Happy birthday
Another good one 👍👍
Great video. Bad-ass ending!
Thrift is your gift…Raising the dead for a second life.
The .issmat hed valve covers really set it off
She ran good for a Pile of junk. Damn oil pressure line. Good to see you at the Ducktape drags again.
Who taught you all your Mopar knowledge? You are amazing.
This is awesome birdsong you madman! Only thing I’d like to see is you pull that read end out a bit… mainly because I have a car with similar damage and i know you would find some genius solution that I would have never considered
Birdsong, cool as ice,
52:33 Most bad ass brother I am amazed by that and that is epic
I have one of those cheap switch panels, got it off Amazon for like 20 bucks. I use it in my 83 Dodge D150 'cause I'm too lazy to replace the ignition switch. I'm in the middle of swapping the truck from being stock /6 with a 4 speed A-833 to a bone stock 1983 318 with the A-833 4 speed... But I'm too lazy to change an ignition switch.
I knew I seen you before I seen you racing at the Purhamp dirt track we raced there also in the sports compact class car number 48 man I miss that track
Happy birthday Chris birdsong have a wonderful birthday and many more to come aloha guy from Maui Hawaii 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Just "shows ta go ya" old school still works for making fun!!!!
Nice man !
Happy belated birthday brother
So awsome
No doubt in my mind it is going to be done.😊
Legend..
I could be wrong but it looks like Chris has his priority more on racing now than doing Mopar restorations...
If that's what he likes better, that's his choice. But I sure will miss seeing his amazing metal / body work videos on good old Mopars.
I’m doing biggest resto metal work ever right now on video
Awesome 👍🏽👍🏽
So bad ass.
😢 I say to atleast fix that Quarter Panel... I've had a 71 R/T and it hurts to see, anyway now that yours is back on the road it deserves a little more fixing then just dropping in an engine.... Hopefully you agree and this is on your list for that car.... 👍 😊
You got the ROADKILL ATTITUDE , MR. BIRDSONG....BUT WAYWAYWAYWAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY MORE SKILL......PATCHINGUP BS TO RACE, THAT IS VERY SPECIAL...... HOPE IT GOES AS FAST AND STRAIGHT AS ONE OF YOUR OWN CARS.....EVEN AS JUNK, YOU STILL DRIVE THE HELL OUT OF IT.......
Happy belated birthday 🎉
the offset holes in the flex plate are there so you cannot clock a cast crank torque converter in the wrong location causing a sever shaking front to back off the motor
What kind of drillbits do you use? All mine suck. Great content!
I think you accidentally made a Half life 2 Jalopy
Which is pretty cool
O mate 😢 and all that work.
Thanks This The Great Video & Channel !
I Have a Same Car Channel too , From Finland !
Have : Vintage Car , American Car , Muscle Car , Truck , Van , Cruising ,...
#Retired4You
The surface rust on the motor parts add extra horsepower.
Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't you let the engine warm up to operating temp before you wrap the shit out of it and blow a head gasket? not a good get away driver from a bank heist, but one of the coolest you tube video's, drive it like you stole it
Ur only seeing clips not whole warm up
it would be cool it see this and the super beeter race on the auto cross track.
Careful not to scratch the Charger dropping in the motor and trans.
Especially it has the original paint!!! Only original once!!
Great job How is your baby boy doing
Someone had said the Grout or Concrete idea was from Dulcich? Did it work??
hes actually turning that old hambone into a car
Wow a crushed car drives.
Yeee😃
I really want to get into building and racing cars. Unfortunately, no one in my family or friends are interested. I would like to know what to do about getting started. I only have about $4000 saved and don’t have a garage to use. I am slowly buying hand tools and watching a lot of RUclips videos. I live in the country and our town is about 30 miles away. I’ve searching online for old cars, but are too expensive. Any advice would be a great help. Thank you
Happy birthday Chris for a little while ago I assume
bad ass
Oh my God paint the right side valve cover my OCD is blowing up
Chris you crossed over and made a laminar flow YT video by dumping the coolant into the oil pan!
Like part
You don’t have merchandise ?

CBD SPEED SHOP......GOT JUNK ? WE GOT SPEED AND HIGH PERFORMANCE...FOR YA!

Part 3 will tell us how the water made its way in the oil pan unless I missed something ??
My guess would be head to block sealing issue....Please let us know what happened.
U will see
It is too bad someone ruined that Charger before Birdsong acquired it. At least it will get a second or third life as a race car.
The kids say rebuild it😅
More
I’ve seen what you can do. I see you doing this car, you don’t have to put R/T panels back on it.
