Thank you for the video! :) I have a question: did you changed the size of the model? I have the same model but it looks so big in Cura. Is that normal?
So ive never 3D printed before but i watched a video about supports when printing this helmet. Are those easy to clean up and remove or how does that work with the final pieces out of the printer?
The supports usually snap off quite easily. Always try to orientate the part in a way that the support sits on the inside of the helmet. This way you have to do less clean up. This is easy to do in most slicer software. Some pieces of support will be hard to remove. Just take your time and dont rush, especially on delicate parts.
I would try and use a dremel or small drill to dril out holes in de centre of each teeth. Try to use a small square file to file the remaining material away. I would attach the mesh with an epoxy glue. Good luck!
@@rc59191 To be honest I do not know which mesh you should use. I did not make this helmet to 501st standards. I believe there are some other small details that do not meet their standards on this particular 3D-model. The mesh I used for the breather pieces is 0.6 mm (0.04 inch). The size is perfect for the breather pieces, but might be a bit large for behind the teeth. Check the 501st forum to be sure!
At first it did not fit me as well. I made the bottom hole around 4cm (1.6 inch) larger on all sides. If you place the cuts well, you won't be able to see the larger gap you've just created. I sadly forgot to film this part. Check the video at 6:35 to 6:45, there you will be able to see the enlarged hole. Now it does fit!
I did not chance the scale. The helmet is sized perfectly for an adult. I did however cut out part of the bottom, otherwise the helmet will not fit over your head. Sadly I forgot to film this.
great video i made the same helmet with the same files and i got all the pieces glued together to find it didn't fit so it was a waste of time and filament

@@lilrobi45xxx42 That is true, however the 3D model is not 100% accurate in the first place. Some small details are missing or the wrong shape. I won't use it for cosplay, so that isn't a problem for me.

Really amazing work! You’ve inspired me to do this myself wish me luck!
How’d it go?! I’m thinking of doing it too
This was ridiculously satisfying to watch
Wish I had a 3d printer or a friend with one this is so coool
Really nice work but I'd go with a less glossy finish for the white
nice work! really like how it turned out, lets make more vids :)
Awesome job mate no noticeable orange peel on the paint really good finish 👌🏻
Thank you for the video! :)

Thats totally brilliant
Excellent work!!!😵💯
Wow really good
How does the man not have more subscribers
I'm going to do this, how much filament did you need?
Well well well. Looks like we got a shiny here
Your print quality wasn't that good for a CR 10S, have you replaced your nozzle?

cool Video and nice work
what the name of the Airbrush?
I need to knock out six of the teeth and put mesh behind mine for 501st approval any recommendations on how to do that?

@@themakersmill70 thank you I'll give that a shot. Is there a specific mesh I need to get?

Where did you get that tool want one
Are you selling that helmet?
how does it fit on your head the space for the head is to short how did you do it that it would fit?

Hi did you scale the original stl files? Is the helmet too big or small?
I did not chance the scale. The helmet is sized perfectly for an adult. I did however cut out part of the bottom, otherwise the helmet will not fit over your head. Sadly I forgot to film this.

It might have been best to use magnets instead of the hole. Because even though the larger hole method works, it sacrifices accuracy.
@@lilrobi45xxx42 i left the back detached and it still didnt fit

How did you size the helmet for your head?
I printed the original model without changing the size. It is sized well for an adult.
Great what 3d printer is that
This is a Creality CR-10S
surpised you didnt spray paint more of it rather than hand paint and airbrush it could have saved you a lot of time

I’m so mad because I have every thing you have accept the 3D printer🙁😕☹️😡😡😠
God damn what gloss you use??? That shit is shiiinnnyyyy
Imo you should have used tabs to align the parts and used filler primer to fill in the layer lines.
