Good job, mate. You are a pro at finishing in nitro already.
Thanks a lot! 🙏
Amazing job Alfie, that looks stunning! Is there anything you can’t do?? Legend.
Hahaha thanks very much! 👍
Looks good. Nitro is very forgiving as a finish, as long as it’s a warm enough day when you put it on.
Thanks! Yes I actually touched it too soon on the last coat and left a massive hand mark on the underside edge beneath the pickguard. I almost cried 🤣😭 But it wasn't visible at all after the wet sanding thankfully 🙏
Your guitar looks really fantastic and I didn't expect you could make the body that shiny. I got a body in my basement which I sanded down and wanted to paint in mint green. Now I'm really keen to continue that 😄
Thank you! Yes the buffing drill bit made a huge difference. Worth getting if you want that kind of result! I don't think it's achievable by hand
@@AlfieVaughanMusic I already ordered the same buffing drill set and compound, no way I'm doing that by hand 😄
Looks great man. Great work. Maybe copper foil the pick-guard and pickup cavities. I don't play single-coils, so idk if that is needed. but looks good enough for the effort, imho.
But now your playing it in the vid and sounds stellar, so maybe not needed at all.
Thanks a lot! You can see that I had copper tape in the cavities when it was pink originally. It took ages to do and I saw no benefit from it as I never had issues with interference before anyway. If it becomes a problem I have some left so will put it back in. I just couldn't be bothered to do it again 🤣
I have a 1992 Fender Mexican Standard Stratocaster in crimson red metallic. As far as I can tell it's all original including the finish. However the finish looks like it never got the final sanding and polishing to a mirror gloss. It still exhibits an orange skin texture. This Strat is one of my favorites in my Guitar Herd. I love the Feel of this guitar.
The ceramic pups are decent altho I know eventually I will upgrade them to a set of good alnico 2s. Most likely a Twang Banger bridge plus a pair of Alnico II Pros. The Twang Banger is locked in, the A2P is not set in stone yet.
I think at same time I will strip the hardwares off the guitar and polish the body so it finally has a glass smooth gloss finish to properly show off that crimson red metallic.
In the past I've just played the guitar and enjoyed it so. But that orange skin texture does bother me a bit but I cringed at the thought of hand polishing for hours. Methinks I'll do what ye did and get a handheld polisher and give it a go!
Definitely worth a go! They're super cheap and do a great job 👍
I'm glad to see you used the best Tone Paint :)
Very important part of the process 😎
Looks awesome! Well done! Don't you have to wait days for nitro to harden before you polish it? Could I do this in a matter of days? How long did yours take? And which brand of nitro did you use? I'm thinking of buying Nitorlack
Thanks! I think that's the nitro they use in the Gibson and fender factories. This stuff from the can is dry to the touch within about 20 mins. I've painted and wet sanded bodies in the same day before. I left this to dry for a couple of days just to be safe but didn't notice any difference between that and sanding straight away.
And yes I used NitroLak for the coral pink. It was the only place I could find in Europe that would ship it. Previously I've used Dartfords and found them to be a great brand as well
What a great job man, it looks awesome, now I want to repaint mine hahaha, but I´m gonna pass for now.
Thanks! 🙏
Amazing job ! It looks great!
How long for all the process?
Thanks! I did all this in a couple of days. Sanding and painting in one day and then wet sanding and putting it back together the day after
Great work
Thanks! 🙏
Nice colourway! Wondering where you got the inspiration from?🌚😂👌🏽
Haha thanks! From vintage rare coloured strata obviously 👀
hi, great job! so basically you paint it in one day? how many layers you spray and how many minutes you rest it for each layer?
Thanks! Yep all in one day. I did 2 layers of primer and the whole can of colour and gloss. I got about 5 layers out of each can
An electric guitar has an OUTPUT jack (it outputs the signal of the guitar) ....
Good point 🤣 wrong terminology
Nice work, congratulations, I wanted to ask you what value the gray capacitor soldered on the tone pot has, Thanks
Thanks! I don't know about the functions of the electronics to be honest. That capacitor is a boutique hand-made one from Monty's, the company that makes the wiring look I used
@@AlfieVaughanMusic i'm from Europe, please send me a link of Monty's :)

awesome just wondering what fuzz/drive/distortion pedals you used in test
Thank you! Thats actually all just amp tone. It's recorded using the UA Ruby which is like a VoxAC30 amp in a box pedal. It's really great! I had the volume quite high so it drives really nicely
Peachy loveliness
Indeed! 😎
Amazing bro!!!! What nitro products did u use?
Thanks! The primer and gloss are from Dartfords but I got the Tahiti coral from NitroLak as they're one of the only places that sells it
@@AlfieVaughanMusic thank you so much man!! I also have to paint my unfinished strat body but I’m struggling so much in finding these products (and similar) here in Italy, maybe I should fine some “local” alternatives (if they even exist)😭😭
nice guitar how's it feel and play?
Thanks! It's about on par with a fender American professional strat. I had one before I built this and sold it after having both for a bit as I liked this guitar more. But in terms of neck shape and tone they're really close. Feels great to play. I rolled the edges of the fretboard and took the lacquer off the back of the neck so in that sense it's closer to a custom shop
Could you put a link to the spray paint you used please?
northwest guitars is the best place if you're in the UK, outside of the UK there are a lot more options
Ive used northwest guitars and Dartfords paint before and they're both good. However this colour of nitro is very rare so I had to get it shipped from Europe. This is the only place I could find that would ship it to the UK
nitorlack.com/en/barniz/colors/solids/nitorlack-reranch-coral/
I was like, why? your works with shell pink is great. but i can see why as result.
could you give me the lacquer's name that you used?
Thanks! Yes I liked both but I just really prefer this colour and I also wanted to put a single coil pickup in the bridge so I just did it all at once!
The lacquer is from a company called Dartfords. It's on Amazon
@@AlfieVaughanMusic Thank you so much! I live nonavailable area of Amazon so i'll cheak the Dartfords on the website, go find similar one.
Will do my first refin this weekend will do a jaguar in fiesta red with a matching headstock ... :P #mfilesband
Good luck 👍
What was the nitro stripper you used ??
It's called Nitromors
@@AlfieVaughanMusic Thank you. :)
Much better now , looks terrific ❤
Thanks a lot!
Nice finish but I gotta ask, why on Earth do you have FIVE springs in the back??
Thanks! It's quite common to do that. I don't use the trem system so extra springs improves tuning stability
From pink to salmon....
I liked the Tahiti coral more 😁 tastes change
