Actually the clearance is not that low, it will go over most of the bumps comfortably. Lifting the car is discouraged since there's a high chance of messing with handling capabilities of the car.

the engine sound from the interior mostly comes from a speaker in the dashboard called a soundaktor, which can be switched off
