TOP SPEED - The thing almost everyone overlooks with trucks is the tire speed rating. Virtually all those big tires are rated for 112 or 118 mph. You could put high speed road tires on it but since the CyberTruck speed is software limited, idk if you can "unlimit" it without hacking it.
Good point on drag, easy to confuse Coefficient of Drag and actual drag which is also a function of *size.* (mostly frontal area) I'm guessing that 'more sensible' wheels and tires could significantly improve range and general road performance.
Unless the range extender has self-contained thermal management, moving the pack in and out would involve electrical and plumbing connections. Not something to be done casually.
I think the CT will compete more with the f350 than the 150. They will probably reduce the weight over time, but clearly, it has a better towing capacity than a 150. Check out the truck pull test. It beat the F350. They may be playing it safe with the capacity limit until they finish long-term testing.
Warren, the “range extender” is the thin edge of the wedge for “battery swapping”. 99% of the time you don’ t need that range/towing capacity. . . being able to rent a battery in Quebec to help pull a trailer to Florida. . . and then back 6 months later. . .
Warren I heard Europe requires a soft hood/bumper for pedestrian accidents. What do you think of putting an airbag/s in frunk and/or bumper areas to protect pedestrians in an accident to allow CyberTrucks to be sold in Europe ?
I had a reservation for a CT but honestly I am more likely to wait on the model Y after it gets an update similar to Highand. My 2018 model 3 battery warranty is good till August 2026 so I have time. I just don't think the price is great for what is offered namely as I see no value in the windows or body strength. I do think it looks amazing.
I'ts pretty easy to walk about from a $100 reservation and get a refund, eh? I think anyone that is gaguing real world backlog/demand on a $100 refundable deposit should see if they can get a guest spot at Joe Rogan's podcast and share a joint with Musk
The iPhone has less ram than other phones but still sells better than other phones because of software and the “beauty” of the product as a solution. The arguments I’m seeing about spec vs spec is missing the point.
Missing your good point but for many, self included, it must have a compelling use case regardless of aesthetics which ultimately should mostly follow function, not compromise it.
The entire vehicle could be coordinated to support the connected home/residence and help the electrical grid. This was/is a feature of the Ford F-150 Lightning - at least for the owners property. Not sure if anything extra is required (besides - maybe a grid disconnect for the house/residence - if/when there is a grid down situation). Those batteries are massive and could power a single family home for days - maybe weeks (if no AC or Electrical heat is needed).
The Cybertruck premium is because of the art and wholistic value of the product… People forget beauty has value. When the beauty is lesser valued to the public the price will come down.
Warren - Another GREAT Video . on the cargo Bed capacity , its only a 6"x4" bed and 8" with tailgate down. the BED cargo is 53 sq ft + under bed Storage , NO MIDGATE , but with REAR seats folded add 67 cu ft in Cabin. 120 Total.
Warren - Typically you cannot Negotiate the Price DOWN on a BEV , the F150 Lightning sells at Dealerships for $10k , sometimes $25k more than Asking price. and USA interest rates mean , you pay more on a Vehicle loan or DENIED a loan.
The price will definitely come down. It was designed that way. With all the technological 1st's the price is more than competitive for design and feature sets. The line is almost totally automated. Demand and ramp are probably the 2 largest price drivers above inflation.
Hey Warren. I have a day one reservation for CT but who knows when I’ll get it. I pulled the trigger on an Ultra Red model❌ 5 seater and took delivery two weeks ago and love it. Upgraded from a 2018 RWD long range model 3 still plan on getting the truck but don’t know if I’ll keep it as my garage barely fits my X
The Cybertruck max Supercharging rate is actually 350 KW. This will be achieved with a V4 Supercharger. This vehicle has an 800V battery and a 48V LV battery.
Moving the steering wheel from left to right will require moving + the brake pad + the accelerator pad resulting in more work---> hopefully that is steer by wire too??
MKBHD already put out his review of Cybertruck. Generally a positive review. Hagerty did one as well and he loved Cybertruck. Top Gear another positive Cybertruck review.
I just got the 5-seat X. Very rarely need more than 2 seats and have lots of cargo space with back seats folded down. Room for girlfriend and me to sleep in back when camping. If I need to haul more stuff I can rent/buy a small utility trailer. Planning to cancel my CT order. Traded in F250 for X, first time since 1982 I haven't owned a truck.
Your review from investor perspective is fair and neutral. Thank you For Rivian and F150 lighting - ya I would also think they are not gonna for HIGH VOLUME product which similar to X and S. But Cybertruck could be really different
Are you serious? Let's see the CT do a "pit manoveur" and see what the repair costs are first. There's a lot of variables, including the casting that no one has any real world experience with. Case in point: Where are you going to get a wind sheild replaced and what happens if you can't? Perhaps, the one of a kind windshild wiper fails. You're not getting another your local parts store.
@@craighermle7727 you don't think people are going to make after market stuff to fix and protect the vehicle? Like after market windshield wipers and bull guards like they do with every other truck. Auto glass companies aren't going to get windshields for them like they do any other vehicle? Also cop aren't fucking their vehicles up on the daily.
I think Tesla gave the $39k price just to see what everyone else would do to try matching it. I don't think it was a real price. Now, low production and removing the "Can't sell for a year" clause raised the price because they didn't people flipping them (for huge profits) before Tesla gets to full production. I think once Tesla reaches full production and balances demand, the price might drop $10k-$15k after they fill all pre-orders. Might start going down some before that,. but very little depending on actual cost to manufacture and how many people are flipping them. If they are reselling far above retail, the price might even go up. Once the volume savings for castings, 48v wiring, and a refine manufacturing, I'm guessing it'll be closer to Model Y costs then Model X.
So far as the original pricing, I believe that was Elon's standard optimistic predicting. He had no way to make a real projection. 4680 took longer than expected, never worked with stainless before, etc. Also, he probably didn't predict a 2 million waiting list and therefore the ability to command the most premium price to early adopters.
Would prefer watching this on X, but I'm sure you would put it there if you could I have two reservations, keeping both of them if I can monetize one of them
Tesla will be driving the CyberTruck off the assembly line and right into the customers hands. Inventory on hand might be a weeks worth for extended periods?

Who would swap it? No way.
Hi Warren, loosing the bed length for the battery extender may be an issue. Like it more if battery is flat on the bed if possible
Nah. If you need loads of extra range for extender then it's likely because nyiire towing. If you're towing you'll have space in or on trailer
@@mrbushpilotAnd what about the times you aren't towing? You're still missing 1/3 of the bed.

Could the battery extender be also used as a powerwall when not on the CyberTruck, this could justify the purchase by making money supporting the grid

Love how everyone nearly always says bed is only 6.6” x 4’. Sure it’s bigger than all it’s closest rivals.
Lots of interesting points. I’m having a similar mind shift as when I first saw it at the reveal. Not sure at first. All-in shortly after.
Elon said CT was not efficient due to its sharp edges. It’s a truck and it’s supposed to be used as a working truck, not trophy.

True
Comparing Ford prices doesn't work. Dealers have "market adjustments" and required options. Nitrogen in tires. 70K car costs 95K. LOL
There isn't a piston head/anti ev person in the world that thinks a Tesla caused what happened in Hillsboro, Ohio on This Past Tuesday. Upvoted!!

move windshield wiper also? accelerator is definitely "by wire", braking??? maybe, but hydraulic isn't that much more difficult to move than "by wire"
I LOVE my 2023X... so much I might let my CT order go ??? Delightful HARD decision ...
