I think it was meant to point out the voice control accuracy. I certainly didn’t assume this was the only way to deal with the wipers based on this video.
My dad uses the Ford Lighting for construction. It saves him so much money on gasoline. The real answer to see which one is better is on ur usage. The Ford lighting is great if you want a pickup truck but hate the price of gas. It still tows and carries alot. The rivian seems like a Toyota Tacoma but electric. Small but does the job. Probably easier to park especially in the city with decent space to load things. The cyber truck is meant for people who don't actually use a truck. It's more of a status symbol and I think the utility isn't there for most truck user.
Even before I hit 'Play' , I knew this would be the dumbest reivew....and I hit 'Play' anyways. I was proven right! The ntcase dinged Cybertruck unnecessarily. Cybertruck is quicker, more manueverable, more horsepower, has bigger bed, bigger payload, higher towing capacity etc etc but somehow it is neither good as a work truck nor as a lifestyle truck??? The guy offers zero analysis; his verdict is based on 'my kids love Rivian'. What a loser!
Not to mention having to move your head to check a blind spot, which is literally the definition of a blind spot. All 3 trucks you have to move your head to check them, all 3 trucks you need to take your eyes off the road to check speed, all 3 trucks require you to look to your right to see out the rearview. Also review cameras are way better, using the mirrors leaves massive blind areas.
Love that you tested actual truck stuff like carrying cargo and bed storage. I am amazed how many reviewers gloss over this. Real world range is also very useful.
Most reviews gloss over payload capacity because the Tesla wins it by a country mile. Oh, wait, besides their fake "volume test" Edmonds glossed over the payload capacity too! Probably because the Cybertruck's 2500 lb. payload capacity leaves the other two in the dust.

@matthewtruitt8077 I've towed various work trailers my entire life, but very rarely out of the local area. All the jobs I have taken are within an hour's drive (because it's difficult to make much money when you have to drive more than an hour each way, each day). But to answer your question, EV's have superior tow dynamics and safety, due to their great torque, responsive throttles, regen braking and solid heft with a very low center of gravity. You will not find tow dynamics like that in any gas or diesel vehicle. This will make towing even right up to the limit, a very easy and relaxing affair with superior control and stability. Of the three EV trucks reviewed in this dumb comparison, the Cybertruck is going to be superior, due to its higher chassis rigidity, relatively long wheelbase and short rear overhang (distance from tow ball to rear axle). Chassis rigidity is what prevents trailer sway from being amplified which is basically what happens with the traditional ladder frame. I have a 2010 F-150 and the trailer needs to be setup and properly balanced or you WILL get trailer sway with heavier trailers because the truck's chassis is very flexy. The Cybertruck, in comparison, will have almost zero chassis flex, like it is hewn from a single billet. It is more rigid than the chassis of a McLaren F1, even a heavy, improperly setup trailer is not going to experience every person's worst nightmare, trailer sway going out of control. That's what causes most loss of control events at highway speeds. Mind you, you still want your trailer reasonably well setup so it will have good braking and emergency avoidance dynamics, but the ability and benefits of a rigid chassis to dampen oscillations shouldn't be under-estimated. The Cybertruck will have a very tight, responsive ride, even when towing right up to its 11,000 lbs. tow limit.
People will catch on that the Tesla chargers are available to ford lightning owners and at the price point the lightning will be the one to get. Rivian and Tesla are both too expensive and have too many unnecessary frills.
Oh wow! I didn’t know that your channel was a Tesla advertisement for the cyber truck! I own a Ford F150, lightning, lariat extended range, and at the price point and the absolute quality Ford has put into this it is freaking amazing!, let’s face it how many service centers do you have for that Rivian, and Tesla cyber truck, and my ability to drive, five minutes to get to my Ford dealership a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty battery included (and yes, that includes the regenerative braking) (and let me tell you I have never had a problem with my Ford like me ever) yes it was extra, but I paid less than $70,000 There’s no comparison to the Rivian, or the cyber truck. Ford has waited and built Ford lightning, but they learn from every other electric vehicle before them, every mistake of every other electric vehicle. We waited three years. It is the Ford lightning the best vehicle I have ever owned in my life absolutely amazing. if you wanna spend 100+ thousand dollars. On a concept car from a manufacturer that will probably be out of business in 10 years. That’s your choice. But I can tell you that I own a brand new Ford F250 only for plowing my commercial properties, but I will never buy anything other than a Ford light. I’ve never been happier..
Hate or love the CT, you need the applaud Tesla to have the balls to actually made it into production and not play it safe like almost every auutomakers out there.
Thankfully it showed all cars don't need to look the exact same as they've been doing for 30 years. Maybe other cars will start experimenting with different looks
If you counted the gear tunnel in the Rivian with the boxes, did the Cybertruck get credit for carrying the boxes and the TV? I don’t think the Lightning or Rivian have a rear door that opens to 90°.
5:58 you REALLY should learn how to use the vehicle before attempting a review (or just call it a preview). The wiper controls are right there, at at thumbs reach, on the steering wheel. You turn them on with one push of a thumb, and you can use the left scroll wheel to change the intermittency speed.
If I had the money, I would buy all three trucks! We use the F150 Lightning Platinum at work and it is GREAT! INSANELY BIG AND COMFORTABLE and is can STILL tow a typical 10,000 lbs worth of flat bed trailer with typical low-bed cargo for over 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge. For most urban and suburban environments that is more than enough for daily work and home use. For off-road use, I would change the tires of the Rivian to 33 inch Goodyear Duratracs and it would just fine as my weekend warrior vehicle that goes into the back-country lakes and rivers for some fishing and carrying my ruggedized inflatable fishing kayak. The Cybertruck is the vehicle I want to drive to the local city park for a BBQ with family and friends and use for the 2.5 hour drive to the local ski resorts (i.e. Whistler-Blackcomb from Vancouver!) blasting some 1980's era music all the way there while we sip on mocha lattes! It's a show-off vehicle for a company owner or local executive AND for the suburban mall crawler who wants some stylish comfort while driving over to park it for a few hours at the local mall or library! V
Uhh, that Lightning doesn't have the "max recline" seat option. The actual seats would have a different design and the bottom portion raises to be flush with back section.
How does this guy not notice the button for the wiper next to the button he is pressing for the voice commands? Oh I get it, he needed to find someway to make the CT look bad... that makes more sense..
For the Cybertruck, you missed counting the space under the bed (sub-trunk, where you can put ice or other things). That should be able to fit maybe 1 or 2 boxes there.
Tesla is the best car company ever no gas stations no oil changes no smog check no corrupt dealerships no catalytic converter no dealer mark up above MSRP! Oh and I have a lot of Tesla stock!
I can tell you have a lot of Tesla stock. What I can also tell is that you don't drive a Tesla out of warranty. My model S has been the most expensive car to maintain that I have ever owned. And I've owned Mercedes S class and exotic imports. The lack of dealerships has been a major con, not a plus. It was the most painful purchase experience I've ever had, where they couldn't even tell me where my car was for several months, and this was for a car that was theoretically already built and sitting on their lot. They flat out lied about a majority of their features. They've consistently refused to honor their warranty, or their prepaid service plan. And they routinely remove functionality or degrade the user interface with nearly every software update while not allowing you to opt out of the updates. I will never, under any circumstance, buy another Tesla as long as I shall live.
Great review/comparison. Just wanted to point out that you did search for other areas to get more cargo (boxes) into F150 and the Rivian, but did miss a point of storage in the end that you showed for a bit in the video. you could have fit more boxes in the far section of the Cybertruck bed and still closed the Vault. At least three and maybe four more boxes, thus making it the winner. And if you wanted to go crazy, the fold-up second row seats would have made this a total blowout!. Also, don't know if one box would have fit under the bed? In the end of your storage comments while you judged it barely being behind, you actually said "not much in it" about the Cybertruck. A bit harsh for your almost tie. Again... in the end it does hold more. Thanks; and again, a very nice overall presentation.
For the voice command does it do better or worse with British accents? Haha I think the words “turn on” should be used rather than “switch” for the wipers. 6:10
6:05, why is it Edmunds insists on not wanting to learn how Teslas function? You have had 10 years! Just press the wiper button on the steering wheel and the screen menu comes up on the screen. You can even use the scroll wheels to switch the settings as well.
IMO, the ford lightning seems to be the most practical. Its interior looks the best as well. The Rivian has a beautiful exterior design but has a smaller interior space. I would rank Ford in first place and the Rivian as runner up. I’m surprised that the ride quality in the cyber truck is better than in the others. My model 3 ride is quite harsh, even more so than in my Mach e. The cyber truck will appeal to those who want to be noticed and off course the fan boys
I want to love the Ford lightning but I just dislike the interior screen. For some reason I can't get over the vertical screen. I LOVE the frunk though.
About a year ago I was debating between the Rivian or Lightning but ultimately went with the lightning because of three main reasons: 1. . Rivian is a fairly new company and still has many obstacles to overcome not to mention we don't know what could happen to the company in years to come. With all startups especially in an inconsistent economy you have to be cautious. 2. . One underrated feature about the Lightning that many don't mention when comparing EVs is that because the lightning is based off the traditional F-150, a majority of parts and accessories are compatible. This makes the lightning one of the most easiest EVs to repair, mod, accessorize, and customize. Most EVs not based off a traditional design would require custom mods and accessories which would cost more not to mention that EV designs other than the lightning keep changing year by year making it impossible to create a market for a specific EV line. 3. . As of today, there are not a lot of Rivian dealerships or repair shops. This can pose a problem if there is an issue with the vehicle and you would need to tow or ship it across country to a Rivian location, meanwhile you can take your lightning to any Ford dealership at every corner of the country. This also affects your ability for mods and accessories too, especially the ones that require professional installation that would force you to ship your vehicle to have them installed.
@@connoravila5332 my Tesla model 3 screen has a horizontal layout vs the vertical orientation of my Mach E’s screen. It took a while to get used to the vertical layout, however now I prefer the vertical screen
The horizontal screen works better when you're stuck with only one screen, because it can manage to get that left side of the screen a little closer to the driver. It's also better for watching videos when parked. However if you've designed the vehicle sensibly with a second screen in front of the driver, and you're planning to use the vehicle more while driving than to watch videos while parked, the vertical screen is better in every way. I have the vertical screen in my model S, and the only time I would want horizontal is while parked at a supercharger and watching videos.
Which truck has more visibility without using cameras? Which is easier to install ladder racks and/or tool boxes on? Can any of the three have a utility bed or flatbed installed in place of the original bed? If the battery pack failed today, which truck is cheaper to replace batteries on? Not including warranty. Can any of the three be ordered without an infotainment touchscreen?
I have an F150 Lightning Lariat. It is basically an F150 with an electric battery. I love mine. It has plenty of visibility without using a camera. It has a 5 1/2 foot bed, and you could easily install ladder racks or toolboxes. You would have to ask the dealer about changing out the bed. If it could be done, the Ford is probably the one that it could be done on. The battery packs all have long warranties, eight years and 100,000 miles or thereabouts. battery reliability is likely to be high if the manufacturer is warranting that for such a long period of time. Obviously if your battery goes bad at nine years and 150,000 miles, it will be expensive to replace. Pretty much every new car on the road right now has an infotainment screen. It is a matter of how small you can get it. The basic trims on the F150 have a smaller screen.
you have given so far the most solid advise i have heard. if you want a cybertruck, buy a cybertruck. can't be as simple, honest and straightforward as that.
Because let's be fair that's the only reason to buy one, it has no selling features beyond some people wanting one. It's worse at every single task, and you have to deal with the worst company on the planet when it comes to parts and service. It's also the most expensive, and the most expensive to maintain and operate. If you've ever owned a Tesla out of warranty you will know how absurdly expensive they are to keep on the road. Not to mention the hassle of even trying to get Tesla to honor their own warranties or contracts, or to get any repairs done in a timely fashion.
@@joshuagolden5194 You are correct; and Tesla almost went under, twice. Just because Tesla made it, does not mean that Rivian will. That is failed logic.
Go on for decades about the design of the Cybertruck... But respect is due here. It's a good truck and is very useful with lots of features. The Lightning and the R1T are great competitors. All are good investments. Thanks for the review, Edmunds!
How did Edmunds run their test to get 390 miles of range on the R1T? I've had my R1T (dual-motor, max-pack, 21” wheels) for about 3 months now and I'm calculating an average of about 335 miles of range in highway driving.
A truck review where the trucks weren't tested off-road or towing, the two main reasons why people who actually need trucks buy trucks. This is basically a car review.
Actually it is a surprising fact that the majority of people who buy trucks buy them for commuting #1. The ability to tow and off road are nice perks. Towing is definitely not a good reason to buy one of these.
@@Cyber_Homestead if my F150 lightning lariat is a car I don’t think I’ve ever had a car that has 775 foot pounds of torque and has 580 hp and it’s four-wheel-drive with the rear, locking differentials, able to tow 12,000 pounds, maybe I’m missing something. that has more power than my brand new Ford F250 lariat that I used to plow with my F250 can tow more than my lightning, but the lightning can’t plow snow at this point so 50 to do my commercial properties since I bought the lightning I only drive my gas gasoline Ford F250 when I have snowstorms the average cars when I drove the 250 every day is $150 a week in gas. Of $550 a month in gas and that ain’t no bullshit.

I’d like to have some thing with the better tread for ice studded snow tires
It seems like a wonky review. I understand that they did cover driving impressions, but they showed the Lightning and Rivian's range and 0-60 time, but spent more time on the Cybertruck's turning radius and voice operated wiper controls. It was similar to their silly harping on the Tesla Model S Plaid's yoke steering (which is now an option), but they missed the Plaid's unequaled combination of acceleration, comfort and economy for the price. The Foundation Edition Cybertruck's price is high, but it is easy to option a Ford F150 Lightning or Rivian up to that $100K price as well. My take is that this video is mostly just a temptation to go to their website to hopefully see the important comparative information, laid out more objectively.

I echo your comment on the turning radius. How hard is it to put two chalk marks down and measure it? Seems like this is just clickbait - put 'Tesla Cybertruck' in the title for some extra clicks. Really lame 'review'/'comparison', I'd expect better from a 'top' name magazine but apparently Edmunds is not one of those. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the turning radius anywhere, not even in the CT manual. The only thing I've seen of late, is that they recently improved it by 1.9' in a software release.
I dont see real advantage with the hybrid. the mpg advantage isnt significant with it surprisingly. I suppose it depends on the price comparisons which im not sure of.
Today for the first time I've riden in a EV the F150 lightning on a test track I was highly impressed. The acceleration 0 to 60 in 4 sec is sick especially for a pick up. The handling while aggressive driving equally impressive. Its been a true opener and my skepticism almost all gone for the exception of the battery life and charging networks. Other than that performance was great and so was comfort it literally felt I could live in there thats how comfortable and spacious it was

As shown previously, the ultimate test for trucks is tractor pulling. Now that both the Rivian and F-150 have been tested, it's time to test the Cybertruck.
Cybertruck easily wins the tractor pull test over the other two. Others have already done it and Edmunds doesn't want to pay just to make the Tesla look better. This is a joke of a review, carefully scripted to try to appear rational.
@@ZipZoomZip If you watched the tractor pull follow up video you would have found out that the determining factor is a combination of weight and power. The Cybertruck is lighter than either of the other options though it's faster. So will it prevail? That's what I want to know.
The Cybertruck has already outpulled the F-150 Lightning, even though it's lighter. Those All-Terrain tires might reduce the range a bit, but they give better traction in a tractor pull contest. Also, Tesla are well known to have great traction control delivery. My Model 3 Performance on snow and ice is just phenomenal, a real kick in the pants the way it can accelerate at the limits of traction. @@ryanehoward
I definitely want the Cybertruck. I wish it had a video feed for the rear mirror and that the rear armrest was longer incorporating the middle headrest, or at least had 2 Qi phone chargers when down - like the Model S rear armrest.
The Cybertruck isn’t a work truck ?? We use them in our construction company and we love them. We always had F-150s but we can’t go back. My F-150 always sounds like the windows are down a little inside. The cybertruck sounds like I’m in my house. No more gas, oil change, spark plugs, radiators, mufflers, etc..

I have had the Lightning ER for about 6 months and still havent punched it. LOL. The power in these is insane and racing is not my gig. But when you need it there is no waiting or wondering when or what gear is going to show up. Or if theres going to be a puff of smoke signaling a possible problem
A reviewer's job isn't to picture what a product could be, it is to observe what the product in front of them is. And the Cybertruck doesn't even have basic autopilot right now, much less FSD.
For the rear view camera I don't get why they didn't just put what looks like a regular rear view mirror in the normal place but have it be a screen instead. These are common items already for people that don't have zero visibility in the back as is the case with the Cybertruck. It would be annoying to always have part of the screen used for this view and then it would get confusing to have that same spot on the screen switch to left or right when turning.
I thought you said trucks. None of those is a truck. A truck tows heavy weights over long distances, can handle a full day the ranch hauling feed and mud, can handle all weather and temperatures without any loss of range or power, and isn't afraid of a battery fire after getting dinged up. A truck has no need for 0-60 speed. It needs to be easily leveled. It needs a wide bed and a strong gate. It needs to be easily repairable with easily sourced/fabricated parts because a truck is used to make money. It needs to have longevity and resale value, because there is an entire blue collar world of contractors, ranch hands, fruit/vegetable pickers, and other day laborers who need cheap, used trucks that they can run into the ground. None of these battery boxes is a useful truck. They are battery powered grocery getters that ought to have a minivan body style instead of oversized pickup styling. At least the Ford is making an effort to be a truck, I'll give em that. They tried to give it some pulling power, despite the complete and total range loss when maxed out. But those other two are a total joke.
F-150: Functional, useful, but too expensive for an F-150. Doesn't do much more than a gas Lariat Rivian: Smaller and more playful, but its ride isn't great, and it may not have access to charging Cybertruck: Sex appeal and style, fast and capable, but you'll have to pay for it.
The supercharging network is a big deal on trips, but that's going away when others use nacs. If Tesla actually had the range they originally stated, 500 miles, it would be a far easier 100k pill to swallow. Too many compromises at this point in time.
I keep hearing the argument about the steer by wire being compared to a commercial airliner. What' you don't realize, is that an airplane at 35.000 feet altitude, gives at least several minutes to try to solve a problem, before there's any risk of a crash. Driving down the freeway at speed, in heavy traffic, you only have a fraction of a second. I'm all for a mechanical coupling between the steering column and front end, so I can "muscle" it safely off the road, if there's an error.
Not surprisingly, the cheapest at the time of announcement and the most eccentric among them turned out to be both the most expensive and the most impractical... Instead, the same newcomer to the business of cars and pickups turned out to be both faster and cheaper. But the F150 is still the most practical from all angles! And this despite the fact that it is built only on the existing platform, which always causes a lot of inconvenience and complications for manufacturers and users. But not this time! I think out of the three, I'd go for the Ford, even though I was excited about the Cyberfake years ago...
I dont have a cyber truck but would love to own one. I would suggest making a list of ALL the positive things with the cyber truck then do a comparison with any other truck.
The CT is practical as a truck, drives like a car (until you get into a less specious situation) and soon it might even become an off-roaad machine after some updates. The price is the only issue
my quick take on this actually great video: 1. if testing the storage of the trucks not within the cabin, surely you would stack them in the cybertruck as it clearly fits 4 more on top when the taneu is closed. 2. the rear steering is currently locked to 3% and will in future be unlocked on all trucks to 10% (not ok imo) 3. small but the camera on the screen can be dragged all of the way to the left of the screen, making it no more cumbersome than a rear-view mirror, still a great job on the video keep up the quality content
I have really considered a Rivian, there are two things holding me back. Both are mistakes that I made by buying a Tesla. The first is the lack of Android auto, that is such a game changer and I've had it in rental vehicles, I'll never buy another vehicle without it. The second is the vendor lock in for repairs. While I don't for a minute believe that Rivian could possibly be as bad as Tesla for this, the fact that they aren't allowing third-party repair, makes me worry that they are taking the Tesla approach of our way or the highway. In the Tesla that has resulted in the most expensive vehicle to maintain that I have ever owned, along with long delays to get parts or service appointments, and quite frankly incompetent mechanics. I also worry that there's nothing stopping them from following Tesla's lead by frequently removing paid for functionality through over the air software updates. That's not a worry that I have with legacy automakers, they are too risk adverse for that. So despite the fact that the Rivian would probably be the most appropriate of the three for my use, I've come to the conclusion that my next vehicle will likely be the lightning. (It doesn't hurt that the lightning is significantly cheaper, even in the platinum trim)
@@Green__one Rivian is a new company and its offerings are in the Vanguard and Adventurous! If you want to be safe and have the same old same old sure get a Lightning. @@OneEarth-Forever I've been driving a Tesla since 2014, I have no problem with being in the vanguard of new technology. It's not the technology that worries me. It's the our way or the highway attitude that Tesla has, and that I'm worried Rivian is adopting as well. Despite the amazing vehicle, I regret my Tesla purchase every day, I really worry that Rivian is too much like Tesla in all the ways that I dislike. So as much as I like their offering, and as much as it does appear to be the most appropriate for my use case, I'm very hesitant to purchase one as I worry that it will be the same mistake I made on my Tesla. Maybe Rivian will surprise me, but until we start seeing their vehicles out of warranty, and until they've had a long history of software updates behind them, we won't get to see their true colors.
EVERY performance vehicle I've ever owned had a practical; cruising range of 220 miles or so My C7 Z06 gets 12 MPG around town (One the highway, I do get 24 in Eco), carrying 18 gallons, do the math. The Rivian Quad and the Tesla Cybertruck are effectively performance trucks , that are as quick, or quicker, than my Z06 And can get you 100 miles more than a performance gas vehicle, and carry people in back, and have a bed
LOL, so many butts hurt sheep in the comment section defending Tesla. For the money, I would buy an F150 at $40k if that is still available. But if I'm spending nearly $100k, I'm getting Rivian quality. Tesla feels like a high school project that got rushed at the end, incomplete.
The rivian had definitely more space left over even in that golf club holding compartment. Not for another box but you can squeeze extra stuff in there And both the Ford and the Tesla had room to file more boxes on top if you use straps to hold them down It's sad he didn't show a picture of him sitting in the Ford but he definitely had more headroom in the forward and the rivian
@@mikekasich836 The guy probably got reprimanded after they saw this video lol. And as a Lightning owner I would say the Chevy has them all beat at this point overall
If you are spending this kind of money, I'd go with the one that will most likely have a company around in 5 years to service it. That would be Ford. It is an F-150 through and through but it has an EV powertrain. If you want to tow heavy things a long distance you aren't shopping these trucks anyway so that to me is not a factor. CT is daft, period. Rivian is pretty cool but not better enough to warrant that choice over the Ford.
And that's the worst feature of it. Even worse than the styling, even worse than the choice to put everything on one's touch screen in the center, even worse than the choice to go with stainless steel body panels. The worst feature is that it's a Tesla with all the horrible things that comes with like the worst customer service in the industry, the most expensive parts, the most maintenance, etc
both the rivian and cybertuck base model has way more tech and features than the f150 top end model. Cybertuck beats rivian on tech too, but rivian is close behind. Cybertruck has by far the best charging network. most durable exterior; and the air suspension means you don't need further expense of running boards which cause more faff and lose aero with them. then there is the phone features which allow you to remote heat the cabin, dog mode, remote check security camera, MUCH better computer compared to ford. f150l owners already complaining their computer is getting slower and slower while even the last gen tesla computer has zero complaints about speed. these are features i use with the ev at least once per week. the f150l is way more spacious in the back which pretty big deal. but just know the software is like and very outdated, worse than a amazon kindle fire tablet compared to a 2022 ipad. i'm skeptical wheter the base model cyerbertuck will keep airsups and 4 wheel steering at 61k and all these other features. if it does, than there is clear winner in here. he should have put in plywood sheets in all 3 trucks.
I didn't see the video, I just imagined what the conclusion we could expect coming from Edmunds and voila! Nailed. Thats what a lost credibility look like.
What is it that makes the Ford the best “working man’s” truck again? Is it the smaller bed, the rust, the easily dentable sides, or simply brand familiarity?

Regarding cargo volume ... the F150 can be fitted with a secure waterproof topper (from Leer Inc, ARE Inc, etc) which makes it win the volume-contest by a large margin. Such a topper also makes the truck-bed good for camping. AFAIK, the Tesla and Rivian trucks do not have that option available.
Or, you're smart, and you don't make the mistake of buying anything from Tesla. I made that mistake. And while I love my model S, I will never make the mistake of owning another Tesla. The car's good, the maintenance costs and dealing with the abysmal, and frankly criminal, service from Tesla is not worth it.
Because it's not available? I love how people keep harping on how wonderful this imaginary truck is, but when you can't buy it there's no point in testing it.
Cybertruck is no match for R1T. R1T is way better in off-road capability, range, interior material quality and looks. Tesla are just selling a steel vessel with an autopilot which is not even efficient in today’s world. They’re just making a statement using their brand identity, misusing profits. One should not gain from meaningless products. What’s the need for bulletproof material? Where did the sustainability go? In a mission based company, every product should speak for its company’s mission.
Objectively, I find the lack of anything in front of the driver position very unsettling. I’ve noticed many Model 3 & Y owners have a phone mounted where the dashboard should located. The lack of CarPlay is annoying. I feel like I’ve lost the rental car lottery if I get stuck with a Tesla.
He definitely went out of his way to be charitable to the cybertruck. I mean he did admit that he lusted over one personally, and the rest of the review was just as biased in favor of it despite its many drawbacks.
Sure the F-150 Lightning is the more truck oriented vehicle. But it is not the better F-150. You've seen it yourself, towing is less than acceptable. I do understand that this is a truck test being conducted in the city in California. Bring these to mountains (east or west, winter or summer) and slap a trailer on there. Tell me where you are charging these while you ride your dirtbike, ATV, snowmobile, or take the boat out... if you even make it in the first shot. Good to know they handle some lowes moving boxes, but real world these are just bigger daily drivers.
So which of these three - the Cybertruck, the F-150 Lightning or the R1T - would you take home? Let us know in the comments!
Probably the rivian just for the tech, but if i wanted to stand out,the cybertruck would be the one id pick, but overall i will take the rivian,i love the cybertruck tho,i know many many pepole dont, but i do.

The Ford lighting is great if you want a pickup truck but hate the price of gas. It still tows and carries alot.

No actual towing, I didn't buy my truck just to drive to work. How well do they tow?
The Cybertruck will have a very tight, responsive ride, even when towing right up to its 11,000 lbs. tow limit.
Lightning for me. Range is good and the bed is big enough for my surfboards. 🤙

And they didn’t count the extra 3 stacked in the front of the bed and still allow full closure
No corrupt CEO......oh wait....

About a year ago I was debating between the Rivian or Lightning but ultimately went with the lightning because of three main reasons:

Why would you want to remove the infotainment system?

Because let's be fair that's the only reason to buy one, it has no selling features beyond some people wanting one. It's worse at every single task, and you have to deal with the worst company on the planet when it comes to parts and service. It's also the most expensive, and the most expensive to maintain and operate. If you've ever owned a Tesla out of warranty you will know how absurdly expensive they are to keep on the road. Not to mention the hassle of even trying to get Tesla to honor their own warranties or contracts, or to get any repairs done in a timely fashion.
The risk with Rivian vehicles is that the company might not be around in a few years to give you warranty and spare parts.

We use them in our construction company and we love them. We always had F-150s but we can’t go back. My F-150 always sounds like the windows are down a little inside. The cybertruck sounds like I’m in my house. No more gas, oil change, spark plugs, radiators, mufflers, etc..
You full of shit. No company is buying Cybertrucks for construction.
@@kylestewart8354- see, Cybertruck owners club, reservation tracker.
Bullshit, no construction company is buying this for work.
@@RedRyz3nI agree. Construction company using cybertruck? 😂😂😂
Weird how the ct was the only one to allow a stacked boxes in the back but they went with a flat test.
Why not a 0-60 test on the cybertruck?
I have had the Lightning ER for about 6 months and still havent punched it. LOL. The power in these is insane and racing is not my gig. But when you need it there is no waiting or wondering when or what gear is going to show up. Or if theres going to be a puff of smoke signaling a possible problem
Finally a reviewer showing how stupidly useless the sloped Cybertruck bed is.
You're not picturing full autonomous driving with the Cybertruck.
A reviewer's job isn't to picture what a product could be, it is to observe what the product in front of them is. And the Cybertruck doesn't even have basic autopilot right now, much less FSD.
The blind spot view can be moved anywhere on the screen except covering the speedometer.........
@edmundscars What tires do you have on the Lightning in this video (definitely not any of the stock options), and how do you like them?
Doesn't do much more than a gas Lariat
Rivian: Smaller and more playful, but its ride isn't great, and it may not have access to charging
Cybertruck: Sex appeal and style, fast and capable, but you'll have to pay for it.
Cybertruck has MORE use case than Lightning & offers MORE utility.
The supercharging network is a big deal on trips, but that's going away when others use nacs. If Tesla actually had the range they originally stated, 500 miles, it would be a far easier 100k pill to swallow. Too many compromises at this point in time.
Only need 15:58 1 F-150 to Cary 27 boxes and 2 Rivian and 2 Cybertrucks to do the same.
Tesla Cybertruck. 😍😍
There is a wiper button the steering wheel….. very easy
They still call a flashlight a torch 😂 8:10
Your conclusion is spot on. Buy a Cybertruck if you don't really want or need a truck, but want people to notice you
Thing is, as much as they say that all publicity is good publicity, people will notice you, but they won't have the positive opinion you expect!
Cybertruck anyday .. It's not even a competition ❤
A fun easter egg to try: if you tap on the drivers-side windows on the 3D image of the Cybertruck in the infotainment screen, watch what happens.
Happy to see the Rivian decimate the competition
And bank account. Ford is for real people rich or poor
Let’s be honest-This was a Cybertruck video with a little Rivian and Lightning sprinkled in.
my quick take on this actually great video: 1. if testing the storage of the trucks not within the cabin, surely you would stack them in the cybertruck as it clearly fits 4 more on top when the taneu is closed. 2. the rear steering is currently locked to 3% and will in future be unlocked on all trucks to 10% (not ok imo) 3. small but the camera on the screen can be dragged all of the way to the left of the screen, making it no more cumbersome than a rear-view mirror, still a great job on the video keep up the quality content
If Tesla is going to ship the car to people paying 6 figures for it with the rear wheel steering locked to 3* it deserves to be judged that way.
The Rivian R1S, R2, R3 and R3X have my attention!! #Rivian #AdventurousForever #EV
Why ? Rivian is going BANKRUPT in 2025.
I will look for you in my rearview mirror :) goofing aside, get behind the wheel of the R1T or R1S before you go bored, I mean Ford :)
Re: Android. I’m an Apple guy, but I don’t have to have CarPlay. Maybe it will get more integrated at some point, but that is not gonna stop me from having fun! By 2027 we will have the R1S, R2 tri-motor and R3X tri-motor! Lotus, BMW, and Rover will be kept as estate cars, but driven much much less.
EVERY performance vehicle I've ever owned had a practical; cruising range of 220 miles or so
My C7 Z06 gets 12 MPG around town (One the highway, I do get 24 in Eco), carrying 18 gallons, do the math.
The Rivian Quad and the Tesla Cybertruck are effectively performance trucks , that are as quick, or quicker, than my Z06
And can get you 100 miles more than a performance gas vehicle, and carry people in back, and have a bed
Then buy the gas one.
Not for another box but you can squeeze extra stuff in there
And both the Ford and the Tesla had room to file more boxes on top if you use straps to hold them down
It's sad he didn't show a picture of him sitting in the Ford but he definitely had more headroom in the forward and the rivian
@@mikekasich836 The guy probably got reprimanded after they saw this video lol. And as a Lightning owner I would say the Chevy has them all beat at this point overall
Look at a DeLorean if you want to see how the stainless steel survives the weather
I love DeLoreans but I've never seen one not in a movie or a museum 😢
If you are spending this kind of money, I'd go with the one that will most likely have a company around in 5 years to service it. That would be Ford. It is an F-150 through and through but it has an EV powertrain. If you want to tow heavy things a long distance you aren't shopping these trucks anyway so that to me is not a factor. CT is daft, period. Rivian is pretty cool but not better enough to warrant that choice over the Ford.
Love the conclusion. Cybertruck is a class of its own!!
great analysis! Sounds like it is really a Tesla...even without the badges
Thrilling comparison
Bro there is a wiper button on the Cybertruck steering wheel. You know that.
I didn't see the video, I just imagined what the conclusion we could expect coming from Edmunds and voila! Nailed. Thats what a lost credibility look like.
Actually, there’s a dedicated button on the right side of the steering wheel for the wipers.
What is it that makes the Ford the best “working man’s” truck again? Is it the smaller bed, the rust, the easily dentable sides, or simply brand familiarity?
10 years after still complaining about "all the buttons on the screen" never heard a real person who owns it complain
Pretty much the only people complaining are those who have never given them a real try.
@@wemakecookie but i guess its "cool" to hate on the new company that became the most valuable in no time
I got used to my Tesla screen but I've since gone back and real buttons are objectively better for certain things.
@@lpltBasically I think it's a combination of people being resistant to change, having opinions before trying it themselves, and disliking Musks tweets(politics) so therefore disliking anything he's connected to.
@@JSmooVE3990 Just curious which buttons do you prefer to be real ones? Tesla did add some buttons to the new Model 3 steering wheel which might help, including what appears to be a customizable button once it receives a software update.
I guess it would've been embarrassing to compare off-road capabilities.
See - Tesla video - Cybertruck @ Hells Revenge, Utah.
@@markplott4820you mean the same track that a stock Subaru can do? But only doable in a Tesla if it has extra features that aren't available in the production models? Yeah, real impressive.
Cybertruck is in its own class. You either love it or you buy a Model 3, Y, S, or X.
Waiting for Model Two.
Why was the Silverado EV left out of this test? It is available and on the road now?
NOT a consumer production truck.
Because it's not available? I love how people keep harping on how wonderful this imaginary truck is, but when you can't buy it there's no point in testing it.
Cybertruck single motor is $60K, not $80K
Sooo
This is basically an advert for Cybertruck then.
Unless startups & LEGACY trucks can build BETTER models.....lol😂
@@markplott4820well both the other trucks are objectively better in every single way. So....
He definitely went out of his way to be charitable to the cybertruck. I mean he did admit that he lusted over one personally, and the rest of the review was just as biased in favor of it despite its many drawbacks.
@@Green__one - TESLA Cybertruck is a BETTER truck , period.

@@markplott4820 except if you actually look at, you know, facts. But you Tesla fan bois have never been good at that.
Now we want to hear from a truck guy not a city boy..
