Hey guys, after hours of playing around with this, I found a way to work around renaming all the series. Increase the interval between each point so that you only have to rename about 7-10 instead of all of them. Right click the axis with all the series, select "format axis," then check off the "specify interval unit" option. At this point you can increase the interval so you don't have to label as many series. For, example, if you have 100 series, you can change the interval unit to 10 and now you'll only have to label 10 series instead of 100. The end result will be that your series axis will show less numbers, but it will save a lot more time (and I also find that it prevents the surface plot from being cluttered with numbers).
    I hope this helps.

    Respected Sir,
I have referred many of your articles for specifically creating Advanced Graphs in Excel. I am following all of your blogs & posts, which are very much useful.
I am creating a Template for “Designing of Experiment (DoE)”, in which I have to create OVERLAY PLOT by overlaying multiple CONTOUR PLOTS (having same independent variables but different dependent variables.
During this, I stuck in between two major requirements:
    1) required TO SHOW DATA VALUES WITH JUST MOUSE HOVER within CONTOUR Plot & to plant flags with corresponding X axis, Y axis & Z axis Values in Contour Plot by just clicking on any arbitrary point within the chart area of contour plot in Excel by VBA
    2) wanted to create OVERLAY transparent or translucent contour plot by overlaying two or more contour plots of different individual dependent variables (i.e. same independent X & Y Axis values with same scale & units but differed dependent Z Axis values with different individual scales & units) to optimize desired ranges of independent variables at a time within a single OVERLAY PLOT as shown in the below overlay chart.

I have tried a lot to create some working solution for these two problems but did not get success since last month. So I thought to share my problem with you.
Sir, May I request you to help me to get out of these two problems?
    Please Help !

Do you use mouse from dragging the fill handle? I am not aware of any shortcut for dragging.

Have you ever found a way to rename the series in less steps.. Its okay when it is a set of 7 series, but when you have 80 it is somewhat tedious

I found a way to work around this. I wrote a lengthy blurb about it in the comment section up top. Let me know if it helps!

Can someone explain to me how to do the downwards and sideways arrows? I'm new to this.

The arrows are simply symbols she inserted, they are not operators for the 3D surface plot

Hello, thanks for your Excel tutorial. I have a question if it's okay to ask. I would like to ask if it's also possible to generate a 3D plot in excel for 3 independent variables. Actually I'm not sure if this is what they call a 4D plot where there are 3 independent variables and 1 dependent variable.
For example, I have 3 independent variables x1, x2, and x3 (this is from a ternary diagram actually), and I have 1 dependent variable (response). I want to see its 3D plot just like the one you did in this tutorial video. I hope you could help me or share me with your ideas. It would be a great help. Thanks in advance. =)

You can't represent 3 variables in a 3D graphic since you won't get the actual value of the function. The only possible way to do this is by using colors on a 3D graphic.

Just to clarify, Excel doesn't plot true 3D graphs does it?
The X-Axis/ Depth is just plotted as rows not a regular scale of values. i.e. if you plotted 0, 1, 10, 12, 100 they would all be equally spaced along that axis :(
I am hoping something like Plot3D Excel plugin can provide a better solution.
