    For some reason, I like to think Donkey Kong's father is Bink from Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.
    He is a dead skeletal Kong, who looks just like DK by the way, who throws barrels in a mini-game in an old ship with walking humanoid skeletal sailors running it.
    Said ship carries Chuckola Cola, so it does make me wonder if DK's dad was on board in that very ship.

    • @frostbitecryo
      @frostbitecryo 6 лет назад

      Possibly since Bink was the father of cranky kong

    • @iwasanMBTInerd
      @iwasanMBTInerd 6 лет назад +6

      It could be an ancestor of DK, but not the actual DK Jr. The S.S. Chuckola was stated to have been in Teehee Valley for so many years that the crew eventually became walking bones. I believe the water drained from Oho Ocean and the ship become stuck in the sand after the receding shorelines, creating a valley. There is evidence that Teehee Valley was once covered by ocean. Bink is likely centuries old.

    You're forgetting a few other key factors to this theory:
    1) K. Rool states in Jungle Climber that he hates bananas, so if this theory is correct, he's not doing it for America, he's doing it out of revenge of Mr. X's death.
    2) You forgot that there was a Kremean War that Brigadier Bazooka fought in. So it's more like the these "wars between the humans" is actually "Bear vs. Kremling" wars
    3) DK Jr. ''is'' Modern DK, Steve Mayles confirmed this. This is why the Baby DK we see in Yoshi's Island is the Modern DK. Sidenote, I'd like to direct you to a strip from BitF (good times) which implies that the Retro Studios Cranky was the DK that we saw in the games by Rare.
    So while this is a nice video, these facts can pretty much debunk the theory...

    • @Gnoggin
      @Gnoggin  9 лет назад +33

      +Tailikku1 I did indeed miss the first two, and I'm thinking of making a video about that third one, because Steve Mayles is of Rare, while Donkey Kong is of Nintendo, and in the original DKC as well as the new ones Cranky is confirmed by Nintendo to be DK's grandfather, its only in DK 64 that Steve Mayles decided to make cranky his son instead, aka DK Jr. So it all comes down to "which is canon?" because they cant both be. And personally, since DK belongs to Nintendo and they changed it back into DK being Cranky's grandson, I like to go with that set of canon. Good use of your gnoggin! Question everything.

    couldn't it also be possible that King K. Rule ((or however you write it)) kept stealing the bananas to starve the kongs to death? I mean, cutting off the enemies resources was always a good tactic in war and was often used

    • @KingdomHeartsBrawler
      @KingdomHeartsBrawler 8 лет назад +22

      I believe one of the guys at Rare (Steve Mayles, maybe) actually confirmed that to be true. K. Rool stole the bananas so he could starve out the Kongs while he moved his troops into position. Then in DKC2, he kidnapped Donkey Kong as an act of revenge and held him for ransom, demanding the Banana Hoard in return (which would essentially mean that the Kongs would be surrendering to K. Rool and swearing allegiance to him); luckily, Diddy and Dixie had other ideas. In DKC3, K. Rool had it with bananas and just wanted revenge, with kidnapping DK and Diddy to power his machines as his first act. Dixie put the kibosh on these plans (with some "help" from Kiddy) and got DK and Diddy back. After all that, K. Rool finally snapped after being beaten so many times by those "filthy apes" and tried to blow DK Island to smithereens, partly as revenge for what Diddy and Dixie did to Crocodile Isle, and partly out of the "if I can't have it, neither can they!" mentality.

      Great ape war is entirely based on fanfiction and fake rumors.
      But there has been An actual war in the donkey kong universe, named the "kremean war". It gets mentioned by a character called bazaar bear in donkey kong country 3. He mentions he fought in it. Its presumably some war between the kremlings and the bears over the northern kremisphere. I wouldnt be surprised if the kongs fought in it too

    Well, at least that was more entertaining than Game Theory's Banana War video. I have to add, though, you're neglecting a crucial outside-context player: Snide. We know that guy has at least designed and perhaps had a hand in building the Blast-O-Matic in _DK64_ before K. Rool fired him and he decided to help the Kongs instead out of revenge. I've personally already got it into my head that he was also a hidden player in the original _DKC_ Trilogy, perhaps having helped develop K. Rool's motion gases from _DKC2_ or whatever it was that gave him the ability to turn invisible. So maybe he also had some involvement? Something to think about.
    Also, for what it's worth, Bazooka Bear in _DKC3 does_ mention a "Kremean War," which Rareware's Rule of Pun would indicate involved the Kremlings in some way or another.
    Overall, though, I think the Kremlings are more intelligent than you give them credit for. Their home island of Crocodile Isle _does_ have ore mines and an amusement park that's fallen into disrepair. And they had enough technological know-how to keep going on the Blast-O-Matic after Snide was fired. So they're not _quite_ so stuck in the Pirate Ages. Maybe some of those war remnants came from when the Universe was rebooted in _Super Mario Galaxy._
    Also: minor nitpick, but I'm pretty sure Mr. X was already dead, seeing as he does not appear to have legs in official art.

  • @clarkside5315

    Considering how many people want the Kong Horde, considering that the Tikis could make more of themselves with the bananas, and considering that there are crazy mystical temples dedicated to the bananas, there's no doubt that the bananas are special. They have some kind of magical properties and the Kong line gains great strength from them. It would not surprise me if Cranky, in his youth, was not originally from Kong Island, but a descendant from when the Kongs were at greater power. Cranky's ancestors left the islands (likely due to their civilization collapsing) and after Cranky was thrwarted by Mario he retired at his ancestral home, now a place of ruins. Then he raised kids who had their own. DK Jr. could easily be anywhere and I have no idea where. We just know he's not here. Meanwhile, DK is left to guard the bananas he deeply loves, though, he is likely oblivious to their true magical power.

    Here is my interpretation of The Great Ape War (keep in mind it is a little bit different):
    Before this mess started Donkey Kong Senior (Cranky Kong when he was younger) Captured Pauline. Mario (being the hero he is) saves Pauline and recaptures Donkey Kong Senior. Donkey Kong Senior's son, Donkey Kong Jr. went to save papa. He succeeded and DK Senior, Wrinkly Kong, and Jr. escaped from Mario and went to an island. Time passes and things start going downhill. Mr. X declares war thus The Great Ape War begin and A Grown up DK Jr. dies. Mr. X get's killed for good but becomes Kackle. Playing it safe, Kackle sends King K. Rool to steal Donkey Kong The Third's Bananas and sends Smithy to capture some Kong's and use them as slaves in the Mushroom Kingdom. Some other Kong's get captured by K. Rool. Smithy get's defeated by Mario and the gang and K Rool get defeated by DK The Third. After DK 64 The war is said to be over but suddenly comes back when Kackle Possess Ghastly Kong, Dread Kong, Ninja Kong, and other Kong's and innocent creatures. DK The Third did what he did best and defeated Kackle. Next Kackle summons the Tiki Tak Tribe to hypnotize the entire Island but fails as DK The Third defeat's Tiki Tong and the tribe. Furious, Kackle get's Lord Fredrik and his army of Snowmads to banish the Kong's, Finally, Kackle had taken over DK Island...But not for long as DK The Third and his family takes down Lord Fredrik and reclaims the island. Kackle could be planning another attack today but it is hard to say, but for now the Kong's live in peace.

    Mario and friends might even be responsible for ending the great ape war, that is if we assume Smithy was the main antagonist in it.
    Then the factory-level could just as well be pieces of Smithy's Factory that might've come through the dimensional gate.

    We need a Donkey Kong movie about the Kongs in NYC getting chased by Jumpman and Stanley. Then they are taken to Kong Island where they raise their family until the humans who are fighting in a war mutate a crocodile that becomes Mr. X and starts war on Kong Island and he makes the Mankey Kongs and other creatures join his army of mutant crocodiles called the Kremlings. He also finds a way to the Mushroom Kingdom where he makes allies with the Smithy Gang and gives them Kongs for prisoners of war. So Jr. and the other Kongs go to save the captive Kongs so after some fighting Jr. and Mr. X are staring each other down both with guns in their hands and at the same time they both kill each other. So K.rool one of the Klumps in the Kremling army becomes the leader of them and D.K. the third becomes his mortal enemy and the war continues.

    And that's a pretty sick theory by the way, i mean, there were somethings you guys just didn't took into account, but overall, and given the lack of infromation regarding these things in the Donkey kong lore, i'd pretty much say it is possible, after all, many Nintendo games feature a war or a post-war enviroment, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Star Fox, etc...

    DKC is the follow up to Kong: Skull Island. After the U.S. discovers the location of the Island they send forces to take it over as well as exploit all it's resources. I imagine a bunch of dead animals would have a bunch of oil. We do see the story unfold from DK's perspective and at the time he had never seen a human, so to him the unknown invading force look like lizards (also the skull monsters from the movie). After they discover the island via scout planes, they send an invading force to secure a beach head. Since they are many and DK only has his immediate family the invading force easily over runs the island. DK only knowing the stories handed down from Cranky Kong, proceeds to stomp all over them (like his dad & mom did in the film).

    So… is K. Rool his birth name, a roleplay name, or simply a name he gave himself when he became leader, or possibly gave himself when he decided to invade DKI(DKC?)?

      +Snipper Joey I figured that after I did some digging, but by that point I had found so much actual evidence for all these other wars going on that I developed it into a theory of my own. So while initially sparked by fans being silly, it led into making actual connections, taking a look at all the militarization of the islands, the loss of DK Jr. and the chained kongs in Mario RPG definitely makes it seem like something was going on. Funnily enough none of those things are even mentioned in the wiki.

      +Mad Robot maybe Mario was a refugee during the war. The stork was probably the care taker of Mario's birth parents. Mario's father must have went to war, and his mom (Pauline) must have told the stork to retreat with baby Mario. That is probably what the star children are, refugees of war. This must lead right into Yoshi's Island.

    Here's a theory: Perhaps the Mankey Gang wanted the Banana Horde, and they made a deal with K.Rool? Something like "if you get us the Horde, we'll help you conquer the world? Of course, they wouldn't be allowed into an area as critical as Krocodile Isle, and after that game he likely got fed up with them, traded their (at this point unwilling) service to Smithy in exchange for advanced technology (thus making the jump from industrial sites to Mad Scientist territory), yet continued to attack the Kongs first because he recognized that they would be the biggest threat to his plans? That would get rid of the necessity for any additional wars, still leave enough time for DK Jr. to die (probably the Horde was HIS before DKs, and thus his death was the first sign of treachery), allow Funky to get injured (assuming he isn't just going for alliteration there), and yet still keep the scale down to a level that wouldn't spill out to a point where they would likely have made a game or two about it. And if they AREN'T making games of it, then why does Cranky refer to "Video Game Heroes" or insinuate that DK's adventures could BE games? For that matter, why would there be a DK Arcade, or Jetpac, or the various Rare and Nintendo memorabilia, OR the fact that those arcade games have the same copyright info as their real-world counterparts? Seems pretty obvious they DO monetize the past that way...

    • @ShadwSonic
      @ShadwSonic 9 лет назад

      +ShadwSonic Ooh, ooh, I just got a better idea! What if Funky... IS DK Jr.? Think about it: it explains why they never ever mention him in future games, allows the "Great Ape War" to be a nickname to the minor skirmish that split the Mankeys from the Kongs, and even gives a reason as to why he never reappeared in Mario Kart after the first one! Well, he would've appeared for Wii, but that would likely be because his "cool dude" thing only started after SMK, and go-karts don't really fit that trend. Motorcycles though? DEFINITELY within that MO. Not sure why he wouldn't be in U though... maybe he was sick? Or just moved on to something else?
