And the series does the "two worlds" thing that another series does. The world Mario lives in NOW has a slower internal clock than Donkey Kong's which is more closer to the Belmonts' world. Likely, Cranky and his dad also beat up a few demons during his heyday when Dracula's Castle sprung up in Order of Ecclisa.

For us, that's too old to be going on dangerous adventures after princesses and monster turtles, but for him that's probably the prime of his life. So, yeah I'd say it's very possible that Mario chased after Cranky when he kidnapped his girlfriend.

Kong is probably a surname, only one that is very common in the DK world. You know, like Smith, there are likely thousands of people with that surname that are not related to each other, and thousands might even be an understatement.
A gorilla’s lifespan is between 30-40 years. So I guess after 30 years, the grandpa is considered to be really old, but Mario is still the same I assume.

Joby-Wan Kenobi no. Cranky fought current Mario. Donkey Kong III was a baby multiple years after Mario was a baby, but he was brought back in Time to Baby Mario’s Time by Kamek, who travelled to the past and kidnapped babies during the events of Yoshi’s Island DS.
Kongs age significantly faster than humans, Cranky is also likely older than Mario in humans years. As for Baby DK it's because Yoshi's Island DS is a time travel story where Bowser and Kamek of the future kidnap babies from multiple different time periods, this makes DK the 3rd much younger than Mario since not all the Star Children are the same age.

Kong is probably a surname, only one that is very common in the DK world.
You know, like Smith, there are likely thousands of people with that surname that are not related to each other, and thousands might even be an understatement.

Kongs age significantly faster than humans, Cranky is also likely older than Mario in humans years. As for Baby DK it's because Yoshi's Island DS is a time travel story where Bowser and Kamek of the future kidnap babies from multiple different time periods, this makes DK the 3rd much younger than Mario since not all the Star Children are the same age.
