I was diagnosed with CAD in November. I web cold turkey and changed my diet to Mediterranean but completely eliminated red meat. And poultry just about eliminating too. I think I went to extreme. no more candy, chips, cookies . Oatmeal with Blueberries and nuts every morning . Lots of fruits, veggies, beans, and although I hated fish I am eating fish. Salmon, halibut, cod, haddock. Catfish, going’s try trout tonight. Shrimp, scallops, swordfish. Yes usually grill or broil. Only issue i think I have developed some form of acid reflux. That is what doctor thinks. I have lost 22 pounds with this way of eating. Let’s just say what goes in one day really comes out the next morning . I have not really cheated but would love some pizza 🤔
I was diagnosed with GERD which is a worse form of acid reflux. So I had to stop eating spices and spicy foods, fried foods, cut down or eliminate chocolate and coffee which are my two vices so I cut down lol, and citrus fruits and tomato sauces. Also, if you eat fast that can cause acid reflux because you're also swallowing air.
If you still dont like fish. Get wild salmon Omega3 supplements on amazon.
@@realtonysolo actually I started seeing a dietitian and she said try farm raised salmon instead of wild caught. I did and love it. I Change out seasonings i use each time. I now like the cod, halibut, haddock and sword fish too. Thanks though.
@@stacylenihan206 How has your acid reflux been? And that's great that you've gone to a dietitian. My Hubby is diabetic and I'm prediabetic and, so his dietitian gave us a great diet which is more like the Mediterranean diet. I love the Mediterranean diet and like you, barely if any eat red meat!! I have been trying to eat more pkant-based and still have my coffee and a piece of dark chocolate every now and then. I've even cut out breads and crackers and use whole wheat or low-carb veggie-style wraps as my carb for lunch wraps. And still have my oatmeal with peanut butter, blueberries and cinnamon. I wish more people would focus more on the right foods and exercise vs allowing their doctors to stuff them full of pills because they were taught to believe that doctors are always right when half the time, they're not.
@@aida087 acid reflux is fine. My only issue I deal with is a tightness in my throat . Like my muscles tighten up..Just like someone pushing on my throat. Docs think it may be a form of reflux….Might be caused by stress . Hardly had it last week when I was off for the week . Now it is back being back to work. (: although today is Saturday, and i have had it all day☹️.

Congratulations on such an informative video, can't wait to see your next video. Thank you
Thank you so much this was exactly what I needed, I already have a huge obsession with mediterranean foods
You guys are so awesome. Thank you for caring for my father. :)
I like her goals which are more realistic instead of trying to do a full 180
Nice to see Dr Esselstyn's work being carried on...
I've got 4 years eating whole foods 💪I'm 58 now give me 25 Jumping Jacks for the healthy like I just gave you.😃
It scares me that theres people only eating a fruit or vegetable once or twice a week. My meals are 90% fruits and veggie and im still very overweight. Its the carbs portions and lack of working out im not claiming to be better than anyone cus clearly im still majorly unhealthy but i couldnt imagine not eating fruits and veggies everyday and drinking my 2+ liters of water. Im going to massively cut carbs next. No more red meat. I only drink water so i should cut my sugars elsewhere like fruit. Im allergic to all nuts and many seeds and many legumes. So i do use alot of black beans but i think i need to upgrade my fish game i only eat fish once a week rn.. should prlly get some supplements like fish oil aswell.
Me too, i enjoy eating my greens and fruits way too much 😂
But just some advice!
Cutting carbs or any other macronutrients isn't the thing that will make lose weight.. but cutting calories will certainly do..
So, Don't demonize any macronutrient cuz like it or not.. you need all of them
Also, don't eliminate red meat, instead.. eat it in moderation, like a portion once or maybe twice a week.. or u will be lacking the vit B12
As a cardiologist, i try keeping my saturated fats intake under control.. but that doesn't mean i can't also enjoy beefsteak every once in a while
The trick is mainly about the portion size!
Lots of sugar in fruits, just saying...
Muscle weighs more than fat. Your build must be muscular. It sounds like you take very, very good care of yourself!
@@nour6ammar Do three 24 hour fast a week. Changed my life.
What if I’m vegan or vegetarian?
Prevention is better than cure!
Phòng bệnh hơn chữa bệnh!
Please identify any essential carbohydrate. If you can't, then why are you pushing carb-laden fruit? You can get fiber elsewhere without the sugar. Veges are fine as are nuts in moderation. Fats are essential and shouldn't be avoided but refined sugar is the worst choice imaginable if combined with carbs or even eaten alone. See Dr. Robert Lustig's lectures about real culprit in obesity and heart disease - sugar.
Nobody will listen to this real advice. Carbs are driving the coronary artery disease epidemic
Grass feed meat is a lot better then grain feed red meat
Tofu is soy and soy is not good for humans.
There is peer reviewed published research that says otherwise.
Videos like this are useless without recipes. Talk does not change dietary lifestyles.
Show, don't tell.
Often, the heart patient is the only person in the household. How do you cook for one, efficiently and economically?
Often too, the heart patient cannot handle the physical strain of cooking. What are our options then?
You can easily google "heart friendly recipes" or "recipes for heart patients". Stop making excuses.
Even if there's only one person who is a "heart patient" in the household why wouldn't you cook a healthy meal for the whole family? You are saying one person should eat the healthy dinner and everyone else stick to the bad eating habits.. 🤷🏻♀️
@@Yons_i
No, I am not saying that all.
Many heart patients barely have the energy to cook for themselves. Plus, people who do not eat salt-free certainly do not know how to cook salt-free.
no, its just USELESS hahah
