Air China has really great deals I had no problems so far. I live in Tokyo and fly to Europe very often to visit my family. I saved A LOT of many so no complaints so far hostesses give you free snacks if you ask and they are really nice too. Food is quite good. 100% would recommend if you are looking for cheap international flights solutions. Not recommended if you are picky about every little thing. I did fly with them 7 times already and never regretted anything at least I can hug my family one time per year and spend time with them. Planes always arrived on time two times even one hour before the estimated arrival hour.
for a lot of business flyers in China like my dad, they don't really care whether there is Krug in the lounge or not. All they want is the noodle before take off. So beef noodle is a really important field for Chinese carriers to compete with. Nice review. Welcome to China!
The lounge is identical in first and business class sections. They mainly do it to separate the passengers but clearly staff doesn't enforce this very well
Well, PEK has different terminals and different terminals has different lounges operated by different airlines and the airport. It was very common for passengers to use different lounges temporarily when other lounges were under upgrading improvement as PEK facilities are getting out of date now. If you fly CSA and use the CAN airport, you will experience the different lounges for first and business and elite-card flyers.
I am considering saving $2000 and flying Air China Business class from JFK to Manila over Asiana or Philippine Airlines. $2400 with Air China. $4200+ with Asiana or Philippines Airline, although PAL is a nonstop and only 16 hours rather than 20. I flew their a350-900 Business class and enjoyed it.
LMAOOOO boii yesterday I left a com on the American 737 first class brutally honest episode and I said « what about simon, we dont see him anymore » and there he is. Great video btw, as always
I always take this route when flying to Taipei, Taiwan from Stockholm, fastest route and also cheapest for business class. I agree its subpar other asian airlines like EVA air, China Airlines, Cathay Pacific but for the price it really is quite decent. What Air China lack sometimes is cabin crew experience, sometimes you get crew thats really experienced and professional, sometimes not so. Food is ok but like #reportbysimon says, its quite sloppy presented but ive had ok presented also :) One thing that has annoyed me is that when flying from Beijing back to Stockholm theyve always used the busses that take you out to the tarmac to board the plane so i was really surprised to see that on this trip report they actually taxi the plane and this was just in January 2019 when i flew, maybe its changed now
Good job Dave. Finally come to airline from my country. I don't understand why people underrate Air China so much, the crews are so polite and professional, and we even had exceptional experiences with them all the time. I really think Air China could be better recognized around the world!
Adam Wang They’re really not competitive or “good” when we compare them with the other Star Alliance members. Just look at how ANA and SAS rejuvenated their cabins, for example.
@@odeiraoloap My son fell ill, and their ground staffs accompany us to hospital and stay with us until middle night. This is not service, but beyond, and no airline do it
This is business class so it would usually be good. I think the best Chinese airline would be Cathay pacific. Apparently it is still amongst the top ten in the world. Although i've never flown on it.
I have never been on Air China, but from what I hear, sometimes you will have an amazing crew that really does a great job but sometimes you get a crew that does the bare minimum. Speaking of that name, I have had wonderful experiences on Taiwan's China Airlines most recently. The cabins look great and the product is just very well rounded out.
While true, you’re paying *international long haul business class money* to get basically the same experience as a short hop from New York to Miami. Which is UNFATHOMABLE.
Daxing airport had just opened for a short period of time , and just few carrier has transfer to Daxing airport yet , there will be some more international flights land in PKX at the end of this year .
Great review as usual, Simon....but I’ve got to ask: At 11.10, when the food is in front of you, why do you turn the pork stew dish around 180°?? What’s the point of that? We could see it perfectly well before you turned it!! Or are you trying to send us some sort of hidden message with your actions??😂😂✈️
@Nick Westedt I've been to Sweden and loved it! Beautiful country, lovely cities and the people are amazing, especially when this English speaking American tried to speak Swedish.
I believe that the business seat on Air China A330-200/300 is the best business seat in Air China. Even though the IFE system works not so good and the seats have nothing to do with privacy. But it does have plenty room for your legs. Compared with A380 business of LH and A350/B777 business of CA, the seat on A330 is really comfortable. It has roughly the same legroom as Swiss first and gives your feet lots of space.
I haven’t been with air China but I’ve been in the airport of Beijing. From Amsterdam to Beijing on-board with KLM Boeing 777 I Think I recommend you go to the new Beijing daxing Airport LHR-PKX
Great take off vision and sound !! I hope your nuts were warm on this flight !! Excellent review as always and you are right re Air China et al....they almost "get" it but just lack a few areas in service and presentation. Seating looked pretty good and plenty of room etc but I am not a fan in this day and age of 2 x 2 seating in Business Class...especially as a "solo" traveller. Always look forward to you reviews and flights !! Well done again Simon !!
I'm showing my age but I remember when it was inconceivable that Air China could have western aircraft and they were all Russian such as ilyushin. Now they have 787-8i and are members of star alliance... I'm not that old either 😁
Yeah, even *United* of all airlines is doing so much better than Air China in terms on quality of product, food, and service. Some things never change, I guess.
All in all pretty good. But Air China still needs to work at plating presentation. Take a page from Japan's JAL or ANA or Taiwan's EVA Air for overall presentation. Filling the entree plate to the rim is really a turnoff.
Very nice vlog. Was I hearing a child in business class? Albeit somewhat well behaved, it was interesting to hear a child's version of a quiet inside voice. LOL.
I do not know about the lounges. But you can find a lot of spots with chairs without any people. The most boring thing there is that most apps do not work in China.
I have had 8 flights with Air China the last year on economy. All of them have been on time. But it look like they do not change the movies often. Can see I still can watch Scyscraber. But at many movies you also can select other languages than chinese or english. I do not know about business class but on economy I think every company are more or less the same. Just avoid chinese breakfast (rice in a lot of water, no taste).
@@jenslaustenhansen3081 To each their own, but I love the Chinese-style breakfast. Sometimes, all we want is a simple rice porridge to warm our bellies. For flavor, add in the packet of preserved vegetables.
I flew Air China only once and I think it's pretty average. But this is business class. But if you want to fly on a great Chinese airline, try Cathay pacific. But be ready be pay a large fare for a five star airline.
That food looked so unappetising. Never serve water from a small plastic container in business. It's tacky. And that meat in the dinner salad looked like cheap revolting deli ham.
Economy is more or less the same like other companies. Well they mostly serve water instead of juice or water when they walk around with that on a tray table. At the breakfast you can choose between chinese breakfast and omelet (chinese breakfast is rice with a lot of water so no taste at all). If I remember right they serve icecreme at some of the economy flights out of Beijing (think I got that between Beijing and Copenhagen)
10:46 "Some kind of meat..." 😂😂😂😂 A perfect representation of Chinese food. Mystery meat. Could be dog meat, rat meat, snake meat. You never know. Lol.
The amenity kit is nice, but the presentation of the food is terrible, especially for a first meal in business class on a long haul. Not only the tray but the messy plate!

I know right! It’s amazing
It's from a song. I can't remember the name. I think it's Kygo or something.
I do believe on Air China’s newer aircraft types like the a350 would be a LOT better then the a330
Omg i so much love the sound of that engine..... waooo
that amenity kit looks really nice, i've seen pricier business class that only give you 4 or 5 things

This is the first video of yours I have watched and I loved it! Thank you. I look forward to seeing all the others.
Hey, first to coment! Keep making great videos
Welcome back Simon,we missed you
The landing was actually pretty smooth :D
Yes, the A330 is good for smooth landings...
Yes, pretty typical for A330s actually... This is because of the special "titled" landing gear that are found on both the A330 and A340.

哥们,国航的很多欧洲线真的不是一般的差,经常整班飞机没有一个外国的空乘,英语都很抱歉,而且餐食也真的很抱歉
Awesome video! Great report!
Hi! I really love your videos! You also inspired me to make a trip Report, My first trip Report! Thx for uploading videos!
What you considered subpar, on US domestic flights would have been considered fabulous and above average.
While true, you’re paying *international long haul business class money* to get basically the same experience as a short hop from New York to Miami.
Which is UNFATHOMABLE.
What a stupid statement. You're comparing domestic flights to long haul international. Not even remotely the same thing.
Will you guys be flying from Beijing Daxing anytime soon? Really cool airport.

Direct flight PEK-ARN is just too expensive for me so I would take others like Aeroflot, Finnair or LOT.

I actually have an amenity kit in my house. Which was given by my teacher in school. Also its from Asiana Airlines.
I don’t think airlines distinguish between First and Business class because first and business lounges are the same

Try China Southern's Premium Economy (obviously after the pandemic). It's like a Level 2 business class!
You should try their A350 with new seats and much better catering
One day I want to try Air Asia. Awesome video.
