We're probably going to get a pirates of the caribbean 18 plus set soon.....But I want Lego to bring back classic Lego theames for Pirates, Cowboys, Castle, space, Bionicle the 2010's theames ect
The bricklink program is a good way to introduce some new pirate sets for die hard fans. The current series 2 set “ominous isle” is great looking. If they did a slightly fantasy style pirates, like pirates of the Caribbean, with sea monsters, and mystery locations (similar to the castle sets with trolls in 2010s, borrowing from lord of the rings) then they could expand on ideas!
@@OurToyWorldis there anyway to see what’s coming up with their releases? I’m new to Lego collecting and I’m like how do people find out what’s coming out before it does?
all the remakes are really good. Even though I am not very hot for pirates themselves, I got 2 eldorados (may get a 3rd) , got 2 of the creator ships and even though I missed the barracuda bay, I am scouting for a decent priced one to get it as well. I really hope they will make new creator sets for castle and pirates after the current ones get out of print this year (and I really REALLY hope they make a normal line for both as well as at least 1 or 2 remakes each year ) .
@@OurToyWorld I have my eldorados sealed in box ... I have no more space and I am eyeing a house (so I try not to indulge too much before I move). However my plan would be to have one of them as the compact model and the other 2 around it, as the spread out model, with slight modifications so it can actually clip in together with the main model. Basically a fort surrounded by some linear fortifications. One of the ships I plan to make a sea serpent out of it if possible (and if they don't bother making one themselves soon.
The return of the islanders Look at Lego in 2024 You think they'd bring back those depictions of native Americans? A reference, something in designers hands only fans get yeah but a full on set. Imagine the boardroom meetings pitching that and controversy afterwards
I'd argue that LEGO Islanders was relatively tasteful compared to what it _could_ have been. They were portrayed as heroic for the most part. Also, while the LEGO pirates theme does take place on and around a fictional archipelago in the Caribbean, their use of catamarans, outrigger canoes and "crab claw" sail rigging, as well as the mask and shield imagery makes the Islanders theme resemble pacific islanders more than anything.
The islanders are very clearly not offensive in any way, they are yellow in the pirates world, i doubt there would be an issue with them bringing them back
Precisely ... everyone says the kids aren't interested, but why not put out another line and see how it does? They take enough risks with these garbage TV shows most people are sick of, just give us a solid lineup of sets and I'm sure they'll do well.
When considering spacemageddon, something like that unfortunately seems unlikely for pirates, as space is more unlimited and is the future (more open designs.) However it might be an option for castle, as that spans a long time in history and could get popular mixed with fantasy elements.
For me, Lego simply equalled the pirates and castle themes plus maybe space. As for how they could continue to successfully keep the theme alive.. there are a million ways they could do it. I would like to see them partially reintroduce old theme factions, remaking a few old sets and filling in the gaps with one or two new sets. Do that once a year or so and the landscape will look a lot more interesting.
It’s not Pirates but if rumors are to be believed we’re getting the Endurance Polarship for Black Friday with a gwp to go along with the set. Maybe there’s still hope for something Pirates related if Lego is willing to take a chance on a pretty niche set.
Please don’t kick me out of the Lego pirate fan club, but I bought a Pirates of Barracuda Bay knockoff set from AliExpress today😭😩I am just ITCHING FOR MORE PIRATES. I am glad I snagged the Eldorado Fortress, but man. I love Lego Pirates and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean so much!
A full theme sounds nice but like in reality who'd buy it. Older afols ofen have larger amounts of disposable income, smaller sets don't appeal as much or make as much profit. Kids? Kids want a pirate ship a government ship and smash them together. Those kids invested enough to get a fort are probably already lego fans that would spend that money on something else lego anyways. Corvettes (aka midsized to small sized ships) are still something that would sell competiting at a lower price point but any other set.
"Corvettes (aka midsized to small sized ships) are still something that would sell competiting at a lower price point but any other set." So much this. It's no coincidence that 2009 and 2015, the two worst-performing waves of pirates ignoring the 4+ line, were lacking in midsized sets and didn't have a single small ship to their name. Pirate themes needs their sloops, ketches and yawls to survive, brigs, barques and full-rigs are too expensive to carry a line and small impulse-buy playsets don't have much of an effect. And the mid-sized island and base sets don't have quite the same draw as ships. Heck, if LEGO is really hesitant on releasing a mid-sized ship based on the hull pieces they could always use the cargo ship from the El Dorado Fortress rerelease as the basis for other smaller vessels. It's actually perfectly sized for a short-ranged sloop or ketch used by pirates based out of an island hideout.
@@OurToyWorld i feel you. Best is to find a seller from Denmark selling it for a reasonable price. That's what i did. Its so worth it. Especially when you put down the real minifigure in exact same pose next to it. ❤️

Great video, just ONE issue... Stop picking on the Brick Bounty, lol. It's a NICE ship, and IMO has some NICE improvements over Brickbeards Bounty. I personally give them a tie, with each one having things better than other. Both are nice ships.
At this point, I may as well pick up Brickbeard’s bounty so I can form a more accurate opinion, lol- I’m serious about that. I value your opinion, obviously, not only with the collection you have, but your knowledge of the property. Overall though- what do you prefer. 2009, or 2015’s pirate theme?
@@OurToyWorld The 2009 theme had the Imperial Flagship, so that CLEARLY pushes it over 2015. If you take away that set... It's closer than you would think. I'd probably still give it to 2009, but only by a hair. They were pretty interchangeable IMO. It's the Flagship that REALLY made 2009 special. As a Pirates fan, I'd take 2020 to present releases (even without a proper wave), over 2015 and 2009. With 80's and 90's being #1 overall of course.
I dont really care if the future of lego pirate is huge or not. I am just begging lego to make a new empirial flag ship or a bit smaller of a reboot of the flag ship
They should renew the LEGO pirate world to tie in with the increased interest in tal ships linked to the SAIL Amsterdam 2025 event that's finally being held again after Covid cancelled the last edition in 2020. ;)
I'm not so confident Lego will continue to pump out new pirates sets sadly I think the best chance we have as pirates fans in the near future is the bricklink designer programme series 5. So many great pirates designs hopefully one or two make it 🤞
I'm afraid you could be right. I'm really curious to see if LEGO continues with releasing a retro remake or two a year, or if they suddenly decide to stop. I for one wouldn't be surprised if the Creator Pirate Ship may be the only pirate set we see for another 5, maybe even 10 years.
@@OurToyWorld Just anything really, but I looked more into what they did for space and love how they can all interact (although technic dropped the ball a bit) Especially since retro castle still gets sets sometimes but very little pirates Speaking of connection, still surprised they advertised pirates of barracuda bay as compatible with el dorado as that set hasn't been buyable for years
So, the future of pirates... I don't see it having one, or at least not in the form we know and love. LEGO doesn't seem to be willing to do original themes anymore, at least not unless they can make it a huge multimedia "big bang" theme like they did with Ninjago, Chima, Nexo Knights, Monkey Kid or DreamZzz, or if they want to once again try to experiment with augmented reality like with Hidden Side or Vidyo. What I think is most likely going to happen is a slow trickle of occasional nostalgia sets like we're currently getting. However, it's _also_ possible that down the road we might see LEGO try another "Big Bang" theme, based on pirates this time. Or Disney might decide to make another Pirates of the Caribbean movie and we might get another wave of that. But LEGO Pirates as we know them are most likely a thing of the past. A note on islanders, while I will say that I feel they were handled relatively tastefully during their run, the current political climate would never even give them a chance.
I’m certain that Lego will release another pirates related set in the future but it’ll probably be another 18+ age set. I highly doubt they they’ll return to any native/islanders sets though. Lego is progressive and returning to those sub-themes would be very problematic for obvious reasons.
Sadly, lego shelved the awesome pirates and castle sets in favor of movie tie ins. Now i really love the dc comics legos and inparticular the dc supervillains game, but aside from that, most of the tie ins are not that good and overpriced.
Lego is not gonna bring back the Islanders. It’s a kids toy still and I don’t think they’re tryna perpetuate a stereotype like that especially if it’s not licensed. Not that I dislike the islanders but like I understand why you wouldn’t want to make that as a kids toy.
The Spanish, or "Armada" as most will call them, is a faction that really needs love and was officially killed off by LEGO California. This is also why no one really got to see more of them as LEGO California wanted to promote America more and thus the infestation of American type sports was a thing suddenly along with other pointless themes that shouldn't have been released. It would make a lot of sense for now woke company LEGO to make what fans want, which is a decent full set line of Armada. This indeed including a big base and a new ship, or rather 2 sizes of ships. The islanders is a faction that likely won't return due to modern day woke bs making it a touchy subject that probably will get cancelled real quickly. Now I personally am educated and I do know the realistic idea behind it. So I personally would like to see a new set regarding that. Problem is that it will be kinda difficult to really do much with it as it stands now. I however do wish to see a more Dutch East India type faction that could turn out to be a huge game changer for the theme as a whole. Think about merchant ships, merchant type city bases and things along those lines. It would be a faction that should have been added a long time ago and technically speaking, there is a single ship (although fairly small) that is part of a merchant fleet. Which is repeated to some extend in set 10320. So technically 2 ships? Problem is the second round it's a blue coat ship which makes no sense with the sail and flag it shows. I personally believe the next big thing we might see are the 2 big pirate islands from 1989 combined into 1 island. They did it with 2 soldier bases, which technically makes no sense as it's 2 different factions (Blue being French and Red being British), but oh well. It does state there is a big opportunity that they will make both islands into 1. Another option would be one of those islands combined with one of the Islander sets, which would give a unique idea to it.
I’d love to see some more merchant type sets. I wish we got more imperial trading post type sets. I love the forts and bases, but normal location sets are desired as well, at least from people like me.
@@OurToyWorld Imperial trading post should have been a separate set, not mixed in with another set. Such a iconic set and with so much more potential. But yes, I would strongly agree with similar sets appearing. The main focus of the Pirates theme is more on ships and not a single one can actually dock. So a decent harbor set, or for all I care in several sets that would form 1 big harbor, would there for be a huge plus. I however do think the well known baseplates need to get put back in these sets as it really makes it a lot better over all. I know many will disagree, but hear me out on this one. The sets are meant for children mainly, that means they need to be able to play. If you have to worry about thinking up your table being blue or specific parts being green, this would take away from the playability of the set. But also for veterans in te scene will seriously have benefits from baseplates. Not just for the actual set as intended, but also for MOC's and many other reasons.
Can't comment on Pirates of Barracuda Bay, though I might try to pick one up on eBay soon. I recently picked up the Creator pirate ship, and honestly I have very mixed feelings on it. The level of detail is comparable to the 2010 Imperial Flagship, but in a smaller and more accessible package - which is definitely a plus. I also like that it's the first LEGO tallship to actually feature a proper forecastle, whereas previous ships just had the main deck stretch from the cabin all the way to the bow, assuming they even have a full main deck. The downsides, however... it's small. This is a Caribbean Clipper sized ship, which I do like the idea of having more of those but this segways into the next problem - as a creator build it has to rely on generic parts rather than being able to use the more specialized hull segments, and this results in an inflated parts count for its size, a lot of its interior space used for structural framing and SNOT bricks and as a result a lack of interior detail apart from the cabin. It just does not feel like a good value if you're buying it for the Pirate Ship build. This is honestly one of those 3-in-1 sets where the alternate builds are what actually provide a serious portion of the set's value. I also absolutely hate the brick-built sails. I've seen decent brick-built sails before on various mocs, and this set's absolutely pale in comparison. Again, it's a creator set so they had to use generic parts, but this set MASSIVELY benefits from being retrofitted with cloth sails. El Dorado Fortress... I have this set and it is honestly one of the best sets _in general_ that LEGO has released in the past several years. That being said, it does have me wanting a proper pirate ship to go with it, as without that, what's the fortress going to defend against? That being said, I wouldn't count it out yet. Regardless of whether it's sold well or not, LEGO seems to be intent on keeping it on shelves for its full run, unlike what they did for Pirates of Barracuda Bay.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the two pirates sets still on shelves. You provide a lot of detail on the creator set which i wasn’t aware of- I also have seen people buy two and expand it and I think it looks a lot better that way.
No chance they'll do islanders again with the Politically Correct police. Let's be honest, a set of imperial soldiers against islanders does not sound like a good newspaper headline

Great video. As a collector of Pirates from 1989 through 2002, I was totally vested in the theme. I would enjoy a return to Imperials and Islanders. I missed out on 2009, 2013, and 2015 sets.
Thanks PBJ. Any plan to purchase those 09/15 sets when you get the chance? I know you have the retro stuff, which is obviously preferred by most, but why not have more pirates
No plans to purchase the Pirate sets that I missed. 😢 There are too many current sets released in various themes that consume my LEGO budget.
I would love to see again the Lego Armada theme. I remember that Playmobil did something similar several years ago, and it's easy to see why.
The classic red coat is overused, while the XVI "Spanish" uniform is always a nice, different and stylish choice to change things a little
I agree!
i love the new el dorado fortress. man though when you put it up against pobb you can't help but notice how great that pre inflation set was in terms of value
It looks so tiny compared to POBB. It’s crazy!
I love Lego pirates
Hear me out….. Lego SPACE Pirates…
I’ll take anything, at this point. Sounds wild but I wouldn’t be opposed to it 👀
I was just thinking one day and I thought, what if lego made a pirates game like the skywalker saga but also like sea of theives. Cant get it out of my head now.
One day, perhaps
Great video as always bro! Great content & very informational! Have a great week!🔥🤙🏼
Thanks Brickman, you too!
We're probably going to get a pirates of the caribbean 18 plus set soon.....But I want Lego to bring back classic Lego theames for Pirates, Cowboys, Castle, space, Bionicle the 2010's theames ect
what makes you think that. Unless there is a new Pirates of the caribbean movie i dont know about
Great video Richie! I can’t wait to see you at Brickworld Chicago!
Thanks Oaktown!
Been buying lego pirate sets since 2009.
Just bought the 2009 Brickbread's Bounty again recently.
That’s awesome
Hope you’ve enjoyed my retrospects on both the 2009 and 2015 themes!
I’m still debating whether or not I’m going to pick that one up. I saw it in person at brickworld Chicago and it looks a lot better in person
Good high quality vid I love the pirates and castle theme
Thanks!
FINALLY, AN UNDERSTANDING LEGO PIRATE FAN, AS A KID I COULD NEVER GET PIRATES
It’s been a tough time, for us newer pirate fans.
I daily hope for new pirate sets i grew up on pirates and miss it!
One day ☝️
I just subbed. I just got into collecting Lego pirates. I almost almost bought the Brick Bounty for 300 until I watched your video and bailed on it
Thanks for the support! Planning on making some more Lego pirate content this year, as well as building barracuda bay on livestream!
Damn. You’re dedicated. How do you have el dorado set up? I’m fascinated to see how that modular aspect plays out with multiples
Yes!!! Another pirates video!!!!
Finally someone mentioned the dissaponted 30th anniversary and I am surprised no one has acknowledged the 35th anniversary of lego pirates
El dorado remake made me greedy for more imperial stuff.
well that makes two of us!
The return of the islanders
Look at Lego in 2024
You think they'd bring back those depictions of native Americans?
A reference, something in designers hands only fans get yeah but a full on set.
Imagine the boardroom meetings pitching that and controversy afterwards
I'd argue that LEGO Islanders was relatively tasteful compared to what it _could_ have been. They were portrayed as heroic for the most part.
Also, while the LEGO pirates theme does take place on and around a fictional archipelago in the Caribbean, their use of catamarans, outrigger canoes and "crab claw" sail rigging, as well as the mask and shield imagery makes the Islanders theme resemble pacific islanders more than anything.
The islanders are very clearly not offensive in any way, they are yellow in the pirates world, i doubt there would be an issue with them bringing them back
@@Theworldisscrewed bro has never seen twitter in his life

@@Theworldisscrewed true, true
Themes will die when there are no small sets to get kids an opportunity to get interested.
I would like to see a “Space Pirates sun theme” that would be cool ......
Exactly! There’s so much they can do.
They need to bring back the Islanders series of sets.
They really do, hope you enjoyed my retrospective on that line!
It’s not Pirates but if rumors are to be believed we’re getting the Endurance Polarship for Black Friday with a gwp to go along with the set. Maybe there’s still hope for something Pirates related if Lego is willing to take a chance on a pretty niche set.
Endurance really has me intrigued!
Didn’t even hear about that. Thanks for sharing!

You’re still in it, don’t worry. Hope this video didn’t trigger that purchase lol
@@OurToyWorld No but it did make me feel validated and understood in my Lego pirate addiction! Haha
Agreed
"Corvettes (aka midsized to small sized ships) are still something that would sell competiting at a lower price point but any other set."
So much this.
Dont forget the big Pirate minifigure as a tribute only available in Denmark, home of the brick
I want that set so badly. I probably subconsciously excluded it since I want it so bad
@@OurToyWorld i feel you. Best is to find a seller from Denmark selling it for a reasonable price. That's what i did.

What if in future Lego would added a new Pirate faction which would be Asian theme pirates based on( or inspired by) China(Ladrones) and(or) Japan(Wokou)
I’d love that tbh
Haven’t gotten imperial ship since 2010.
Quite a shame
Ominous Isle is magnificent
If they do a LEGO Ideas set, they should do a remake of the Imperial Flagship set.
Why a remake of the one?
I thought that was already a modernized mega-ship as it was.
What would a remake need to do better?
@@pieterboelen2862, make it larger.

@@OurToyWorld Just anything really, but I looked more into what they did for space and love how they can all interact (although technic dropped the ball a bit)
Especially since retro castle still gets sets sometimes but very little pirates
Speaking of connection, still surprised they advertised pirates of barracuda bay as compatible with el dorado as that set hasn't been buyable for years
@@shinyrayquaza9 that is a very good point. Especially considering the fact pirates of barracuda bay retired a year and a half before.
@@OurToyWorld I was considering getting it off aliexpress when I had space since that ones pricy aftermarket. I did want it prior anyway.
I really wish they stop screwing around with Castle and Pirates and having them in big sets.
I agree, this whole “every remake is a GWP or a multi hundred dollar set” is BS
I’m certain that Lego will release another pirates related set in the future but it’ll probably be another 18+ age set. I highly doubt they they’ll return to any native/islanders sets though. Lego is progressive and returning to those sub-themes would be very problematic for obvious reasons.
I just want my morion helmets back
Based
there was only ONE ship in each of the last two pirate themes!!!!! that's like making speed champions with no CARS!
Good point, wish we got some imperial vessels
Do really really need a re- do of a re- do of a Star War set?
Unless it’s better than what came before, no.
Make more piratesss
To be fair, we never saw the imperial soldiers take on the islanders. Still though, I assume LEGO would want to stay clear of the islanders
Hear me out... space pirates! Make it campy and fun, apply pirate aesthetics to the infinite void, have a cyborg monkey, and you're golden.
Surprised we never got that tbh
