I also know that I talked negatively about certain themes during the video, but I only did that because I felt like it was important to the history of Lego castle!
Fantastic overview! Such a cruel irony that my childhood castle themes were Knights Kingdoms 1 and 2, while my LEGO dark ages occurred during the superior (at least in my opinion) Fantasy era and Kingdoms... I wish I had some of the minifigures from those themes, but they're just so expensive. I take solace knowing that the current era of LEGO castle is super good. The sets and new remade castle minifigure factions released in the past few years are so amazing!
When being born in 1977 it's impossible to beat the appeal the original Lion Knights (never called Crusaders in Europe) and Black Falcons theme had during my childhood. And with this background it very much feels like the 2021-2024 remake and special era is specifically tailored for GenX. Thanks for the complete overview!
Oh yeah I have a feeling that’s the audience Lego is targeting right now. When knows in 20 years they might target the fans of kingdoms and fantasy era!
Yesss the intro is sick! I've long been a fan of Dragon Masters because of Majisto and a faction that cared about utilizing dragons and not just fighting them. However my absolute favorite is the underappreciated 2013 Red Dragon Knights. The red Dragon fig, Dragon Wizard and an evil theme for Dragon knights just stuck with me. Especially the shield design which is my favorite. I also like that there isn't really much of any lore besides the Dragon Wizard being a potions master, so it's really let me develop my own lore and tie things in without trying to step on the "Lego Canon". Maybe one day when it's more put together I'll share what I've done with them.
Really enjoyed this video. It hit the right nostalgic vibes for me. Especially seeing the old display of the factions fighting. The way they marketed Castle back in the day had me in love with the theme as soon as I laid eyes on it. Fast forward now as a 40 something year old I have hundreds of the newly released figures set up as an army of the medieval evil times. Love your work. Thought I’d share. Cheers
I think this is a great introduction of Castle. You kept it mostly unbiased and simple for new fans. Minor mistake, Dark Forest wasn’t the last bandit faction, the Bulls were. Cedric the Bull was also named Robber Chief. Great work, loved the intro.
I felt like I was a little biased in it😂. But when I said dark forest was the last rogue faction I also said the last rogue faction that has buildings in the forest. Yes we got a robber faction in ninja and knights kingdom 2 but they were different.
KK II buildable figure made me who I am today. Ye I know itbsounds cheesy, but thats actually true. They made me interested in knights which later down the line was turned into a history fascination which pushed me towards major with that direction :)
Awesome video and crazy cool intro. I will always give a ton of props to Fright Knights and Knights Kingdom 1 for having so many tiny sets to fill out your collection with. 5 to 7 dollar lego sets were great.

That INTRO sequence is absolutely beautiful 👌😮🥰❤️ And, in the most complimentary way, it really reminded me of how I Imagined a magic medieval setting - as a young kid I read all the early discworld books by terry pratchett and somehow you've brought that whimsical and magical atmosphere onto the screen! Wonderful job. I could quite happily watch that intro on loop and just do LEGO with my wife in absolute peace. Top job💥❤️
LOVE the intro! That must have taken a really long time, it's so cool to see all the eras of Castle brought to life like that. Great idea, fantastic execution.
The Royal Knights were the last faction I collected as a kid. What I loved about the olden days was that every faction had a massive home-base. King's Castle, Black Falcon's Fortress, The Forestmen's Hide-out, Black Monarch's Castle, etc. If you stuck around for more than a year you had enough figures and castles to set up multiple fully-realized kingdoms; not just invaders and defenders. The only thing that era lacked was an adequate civilian population. Back then I was desperate for some peasantry to surround my castles...
Great video! Castle is my favorite Lego theme. I have a bunch of cool castles that I like to mix all kinds of minifigures on. Star Wars, Marvel, Castle, and etc ALL go on my castle sets. ❤️
Thank you for including the DUPLO castles. Those are pretty fun, but very rare to come by! Too bad Belville didn't get a mention, in any case that's the most complete LEGO castle overview there is!

Great video! What a blast through the past to the present. However, the amount of love I have in my heart for my Black Falcons, Forestmen, Wolfpack, Basil and the Bat Knights, Vikings, and Snow Guardians must be balanced with equal hatred of the other factions… 😉 my heroes need villains anyways… and I absolutely love the scale mail dragon knights and chainmail red lions with no crests from Kingdoms, I’ve made them each a separate faction.
I really like Knights Kingdom II, to me its great beacuse it's how castle would exist in a lego universe. I loved the story, so much work went into it. I loved the sets as a kid, they were so much fun to play with. I like how each of the knights are very unique. I wish it got more love. Also that baseplate that the castle of Morcia came with was the best! built so many star wars bases off of it!
Even tho I didn't have a ton of the sets I have alot of nostalgia for knights kingdom 1 mainly due to the lego chess computer game I had growing up I believe it also features pirates and western but it was honestly so much fun!
I'm SO happy You included Ninja. Many people ignore this subtheme becuse "it's not Knights" and it annoys me mainly becuse it's one of my favorite themes overall
Grew up on Knights Kingdom 1 with Cedric and Princess Storm. Also the Vikings. (Just for themes mentioned in this video.) But I also still have the old Shogun with a cart. Kinda hoping the Bulls under Cedric make a return one day.
Excellent work. The one I first grew up with was Knights Kingdom 2. I loved the whole look of the figures, and the animated stories were great. Wasn't as big of a fan of the later waves, mainly the second wave armour which had strange colours, but the sets looked great. Castle 1 was fun too, and so was Kingdoms with fantasy elements, with a level of realism. Unfortunately Castle 2 went a bit under the radar for me. Which is a shame, as it lead to Nexo Knights, which I absolutely hate.
Ah the 90s. The era of the first king, the first wizard and the talest castle. A golden era for the royal knights. We can only hope that they will one day return, so that brad can put them into the intro.
