on a serious note, I agree with everything u said in this video, but after playing the demo I now wanna play the game even more....
Yeah the story seems interesting. I wanna know more
Ya the demo was good. I feel like a review like this is kinda unfair if its a DEMO. Maybe its not that great but I'll wait for an actual review.
Yes! I've been waiting for this :D
Virgil the 🐐, happy this channel is growning, guy is a natural at this
Played through the demo twice, on PS4 and Switch and I enjoyed it. Wasn't expecting much but I had fun and am interested in seeing where the story goes. Sure there's a bit of a delay in the combat, but it wasnt anything that'll ruin the game. If anything, it stopped me from button mashing. It's definitely overpriced but I think it'll be a fun little game for my switch once it drops in price. Btw, the axe was easily my favorite weapon.
Did you look into the kill tree? I managed to unlock an ability that decreased the delay and execute the moves more fluidly.
I'm interested by Oninaki but maybe after a discounted price or something. It does show Tokyo RPG Factory has range. They went from I am Setsuna to an entire action RPG. They just need more help with gameplay and story and they'll be set.
i like the game so far >.>
me too its great imo I liked it
There is actually a dogde button ... the x
Agree on most of what you said, BUT there is a dodge move, seriously.
Unfortunately the Dash is locked to one Daemon and it can’t be used in the middle of a combo making it void
@@DeerestAshe From my experience on the PC, that dash does interupt and reset the combo and does not have any new attacks follow it (yet?), but I didn't feel the initiation or recovery of the dash are too long to be unusable; the jump of lance/spear can chain in to an attack that allow you change direction mid-air, which situationally can be better than the sword dash; It seems that the sword would not be the only daemon with dash at launch, at least In thier daemon system trailer, the scythe and dual daggers seems have thier own dash (unless these things did not make in into the final game).
I like how you made your points in the review. Very well organized. I want to try Oninaki because the story seems interesting but not sure I want to go through that kind of combat system for it.
Hmm, alright not an immediate purchase. Just gonna go for astral chain this August.
Might wait for a golden week sale like I did Setsuna.
Dragon quest 11 for switch comes out in August too don't forget haha. Don't know which to play first between 11 and astral chain
That is a tough one especially all that extra stuff the definitive edition has. I say do Astrial.
@@joeyh31
DQ11S releases in September.
yea, I'd wait for one of this 50% half eshop sales. $25 feels like a fitting price for it.
Thank you for saving me a tons of money. I will also wait for the price cut or a sale. You're awesome!
I just downloaded the game today after I finished the demo. I agree that I was surprised at the price point after finishing the demo but I am still excited to play the full game and learn more about the characters :)
I hope someone in the game says “This is probably the work of an enemy daemon.”
I like the story but I agree 50 is alot but I did not like the fact you have to use a different daemon to dash and jump
I Am Setsuna was average at best? That game was amazing!
Are you sure it didn’t just remind you of older amazing JRPGs? Lol
Also agree on the price point this should of launched for 30$ it would of been far more palatable then a full 60$ price point when the budge simply is not there being a smaller niche studio of Squaresoft.
Good to the point, thoughts. Thanks dude, exactly what I was looking for.
I can see what you mean but I’m really excited for the release and can’t wait to pick it up
The one thing that immediately bugged me was the same audio for every 3rd attack in combat, it got the point to where I only did two attacks, the combat feels a it clunky, most beatemups or atleast hack n slash have a cancel window allowing you to dash around and make combat fluid, this game removes the cancel windows making it all so...stiff?
There actually is a dash you can do in combat though?
Despite your critique being fair, Considering this is a JRPG, I find it odd that you didn't touch upon the story or narrative at all. I heard from Resonant Arc that's the most interesting part about this demo!
I touched on it briefly, though not as much as I probably should have. I found its concept interesting, but I thought the delivery of it wasn’t so great. At least in the first two hours.
I’m still a bit interested but man do they have to improve the combat around the beginning of the game. I’d be more than happy if they delay it to improve a lot of things you mentioned
I actually liked the basic turn base combat in their first two games, it was simple and to the point, however the story fell short in the ending of the first to game
I’m not even into these types of games but shit after playing the demo, I want the full right away!!!.......not for full price tho
I think you get 20% off if you preorder in the nintendo shop
Unpopular opinion: I actually want this game no matter what anyone says
You are not the only one. ;)
@@bladeofmird thank god. They might change some things before the actual games come out like battle music is all I want.
i have to comment what you said about the delay in attack, i think when you reach a certain level the delay will be gone, because when you press the L1 while it is in 150% your attack will have a less delay
That....is such a bad design.
I’m just going to wait and see, maybe when it’s on sale, I’ll end up getting it. It’s still just a demo.
Yep, gonna pass on this one. No time and the time I do have is going to be spent on something amazing.
Where's the music from played thru out this video? It's familiar
It’s Cyan’s theme from FFVI. :)
Yikes, as someone who also got excited about this game around e3 time but only has an Xbox One and can’t play the Demo, this video really helped! While the art/world/story all seem really cool, the gameplay does look a little lacking. Not to mention the lack of music in those segments is incredibly off putting.
TLDR: I’m not about to run out and buy a Switch for this game. I’ll pick it up used when I have one for other reasons...
is the background music playing ff14 version of ff8?
Commander Shepard it’s Cyan’s theme from FFVI. :)
For $50? Hell no......$20-$30? maybe if they make improvements.
Just finished playing the battle mode demo on maniac. I did agree with the combat being repetitive until I played battle mode.
Where’d you find that remix of the Kugane theme (unless it’s an FFVI theme I’ve forgotten or something lol)? Also do you play FFXIV?
It’s Cyan’s theme from FFVI. :)
if this game fails to sell, I fear they might shutdown
I hope to god it doesn't
It makes me sad when I’m so exited waiting for the game to come out then I start hearing negative first impressions on it :( thanks a lot for the info dude.
I know right
Im sitting here hype af for it to come out then I here all the negatives
I was surprised it cost 49€
I just was laughing.
Yeah they need to change that attack shout was already driving me insane 5 min in
I thought I won't like it at all but as soon as I was done I rushed to buy it just to see its not out yet xD
Huh, huu, hyaa!
ye fighting looks slow and clunky, and it's overpriced. You can get setsuna and lost sphear for 20$, this should cost 30$ max
Soo...another rpg cranked out from a factory in tokyo.
They dont insult our intelligence lol. They know A LOT of people will buy it. Fault is on the consumer for complaining about the price then paying it anyways.
is this the demo? I didnt get this far on the demo and it already ends O_O
Tokyo RPG Factory has been such a disappointment. I thought they were supposed to be a team of fans of old school RPGs? Kemco seems to put out better JRPGs, and Kemco is the dollar store of the JRPG industry.
A far cry from the SNES RPGs.....Tokyo RPG Factory games suck ass.
It's very disappointing I was looking forward to this game too, Most likely I'm gonna do the same thing that you are wait for this game to go on sale and then buy it.
There is a designated evade move for each demon.... One will jump over AoE attacks. Another will dash away fro slash attacks etc etc. I'm appalled you took the time to edit and release a video bashing a game without reading the 3 different text/hint boxes that came up explaining this evade/Dodge skill.
I know what you’re referring to, and none of them are a real dodge button. Not that you need to do anything but push square anyway.
Yeah, I agree with this video 100% Oninaki has a nice art style and cool character designs, but everything else though is just lacking...
Tokyo Rpg Factory's consistent problem is being low budget. Wonder how they would do with some budget.
I played the game for half an hour and I stopped because I couldn't cope with the repeated voice track during combat anymore. I think that Tokyo rpg factory is really going backwards. I enjoyed I am setsuna it wasn't amazing but it was good (I got it for the switch and lauch day and apart from zelda and disgaea 5 there weren't a lot of rpg's). I didn't bother with lost sphear because the combat looked the same and the visuals didn't appeal to me. I had high hopes for Oninaki but the combat is too basic, there is no music during combat and the voice track during combat is still haunting my mind. With games like fire emblem, dragon quest II s, disgaea 4, atelier ryza coming up I honestly don't think I will ever purchase oninaki.
Loved the first impression of the game. Liked some of what I saw and heard and sadly did not like a few things too. Is this digital only? Not finding a physical copy listed on Amazon and if I can not buy a physical copy this is not a game I will get. Thanks for any real answers :)
1)play asia
2)SE store Europe
You are too critical... Wait for final product.. It will be good one
It has a great story...it's NOT a AAA title.
2:23 😂
Speaking only from the demos of their games I've played, I think it has the most potential, and has been my favorite of all my demos from this studio. Still was disappointing and I won't be picking it up
Ff15 is like $15
sadly i agree with him.
there is so much potential in this game!
but they got the most basic things wrong!
the miss the action in action based combat. it is just .... soulless
such a shame! i am really disappointed!
The story is bad for me, because you kill innocent people just to make one soul to reincarnation, that's too silly for me, but I like the combat though, but still the demo story isn't for me 😅
Does everything made by them have to be triple A, it's budget for a reason! Some people don't want to shell out nearly double the asking price for this game, I like Tokyo RPG factory game's, I see nothing wrong with them. I will buy this game and support the developer, they deserve it for all the hard work they put into this game even if it's not "Triple A".
I didn't like the demo i felt the same way
Just give xbox it
Than you. You just saved me $50.
Ugh. Tokyo RPG Factory - KING of the mediocre RPG. I was really hoping this would be their coming out party (and to be fair, it still might), but mindless button mashing combat was the last thing I wanted. I did want an action RPG, but something with some depth
Man, I was really looking forward to this game
Then I watched this video
and my dreams are crushed
I guess I'll buy Astral Chain instead
Play Nier Automata instead.
Good turn based combat is always better than these spammy shits
FIRST, awesome i've been waiting for 9 YEARS to be FIRST
I really lost interest in this game's demo in 30 minutes. The gameplay is abhorrent.
This is really sad. I skipped Lost Sphere and I am Setsuna but had hopes for this. It sounds just as mediocre as i thought the previous games were from looking at them.
Yawn.....I'd rather replay a SNES rpg than play anything from this shit company.
Heard it's trash...
just play demo before you trashed it
@@arx117 No thanks, Tokyo RPG factory sucks
You said there's no Dodge, but there is Lmfao please learn the game before speaking
I said there’s no dodge button. There isn’t. There are however, Daemon abilities that give you crappy alternatives to a proper dodge button.
@@JRPGCentral okay fair enough my bad, I took it as there was no Dodge at all. Sorry for being an ass man.
You’re all good! No need to apologize. :)
@@JRPGCentral 100% I need to apologise. Thanks though. Keep up the content man, I just get mad when people get facts blatantly wrong so again, my bad haha. Have a great night.
The last 2 games were garbage i'm not interested.
100% agree with you on, its another overpriced JRPG, with no english dub, and it looks like an indie JRPG with PS2/Gamecube era graphics. It should be $30 at the most.
There is a dodge button, its different for each daemon you have out. The sword girl uses a dash, and Spear guy is a jump instead. The attack delay is on purpose, especially with animation lock.
I wasn't expecting much but I liked it, mainly its world building as a whole. Just plot and foreshadows right from the start, usually JRPGs are really slow with their pacing, not this one.
Btw, where did you get that level 20 footage from, is that still from the demo? I finished it, never saw that area lol
That portion was from the “battle” option after you beat the “story” option I believe. It let you mess around with I think 4 Daemons in total.
