    Casey you just made me smile! You just found some serious grossness under the kitchen floor and you cut over to some really cheerful music while you clean it up. You are a hardy soul! ❤️

    You are just amazing. I am having so much fun watching your progress (while you are working your butt off). And only a sewist would pick a paint color called cotton knit…Great job, Casey!!

    I am so addicted to these videos from a sewist-turned-cabinet-maker/home-renovator!! I can't wait to see the next-I have confidence in doing this, and can empathize with your frustrations in the "shortcuts" you find in the hidden things in your house (like the flooring upon flooring, etc, as I have seen the same in my own!!). Do you wonder what kind of people would do something like that?!?! I think I love you. 😂 Anyway, I am so ready to renovate my kitchen now...can't wait for the next video! As Dory says, just keep swimming...

    Looks like it’s going well. Great call on the coats of primer and painting the panel. Made everything look cleaner and brighter, plus lower cost than other ideas. Yes, the prep takes forever on so many jobs! You’re developing mad skills!🙌

    Thank you for these videos. I like them just as much as your sewing videos simply because well, I like YOU! You are real, you show failures, triumphs and all of what lies between. Like you, I have had an overwhelming year so far and am just trying to live every moment the best that I can with some melt downs here and there and some wins! Just keep being you! God bless you girl!

      Thank you so much! ❤️ Yes, I am taking every win I can get and allowing the meltdowns when I need them! :) It's been a weird, sometimes overwhelming, and also exciting year. It's been a lot of things! Appreciate your support so much!

    Put scrap wood behind wallboard anywhere you want to hang something. We put it in all the top corners around window frames so I could install heavy curtain rods if I chose to. Similar to your stretcher bars behind cabinets- give all the extra support you can. I wish we had done it in our bathroom where we hung towel rods. You are doing a great job! My Dad made our cabinets when we were kids and we all watched.

    This is looking so awesome! I've never built my own cabinets before (always figured it was too difficult -- you are giving me confidence!) but I have been a part of a few renovations. Just in case you aren't already planning to do it, I definitely recommend changing out those power outlets for new ones in the color of your choice, before turning the power back on. It seems like a small thing but it never fails that you get everything all back together and looking great, and then you look at your outlets and realize that changing the switchplates wasn't enough, it still looks dingy because of the old sockets. I'm betting you already know this, but just in case, I figured I'd mention it! Also well done painting the floor -- it makes a huge difference while you're in the transition period.

    I'm so impressed by your courage to build your cabinets! But a lot of it has to do with precise measurements and following a pattern all of which you are already doing with making clothes, right? The biggest difference is that wood doesn't have the "give" that textiles do. Your patience and Alan's too is amazing to methodically think out everything you are doing because that a huge part of first time DIYer's.

    If that house was built befoe 1980 some of the flooring may contain asbestos. Black cutback (the glue) can also contain asbestos.

    Since you aren't using the paneling as the back of your cabinets, you have done a lot of extra work on it that was unnecessary. Maybe don't spend that extra time and panels on the next wall. 👍However, you are doing a great job!!

    • @BrookeSimmons
      @BrookeSimmons 25 дней назад

      It's probably easier to hang bit pieces of paneling on the wall rather than cut it to fit around the cabinets. And of course you need the back cabinet panel for the stability of the whole cabinet, so e.g. making the box without the back piece might save time now but it would make a wobbly kitchen later.
