As someone trying to avoid fast fashion, who loves vintage fashion, and sews some of her own clothes, I would like to just say that it is incredibly expensive to make clothing if you are not a fast fashion brand. Polyester fabric is plastic, and not the best, but it is the cheapest option. If you want to use a sustainable fabric and or a natural fibre, it can very easily cost anywhere from $20.00 per yard for cheaper cotton, or $70.00 per yard for a medium priced wool. To give some perspective, a typical garment usually requires at least 3 yards of fabric. If it is just a top, like those plain white t-shirts, you might be able to use 1 1/2 yard but more likely 2 yards if you cut it properly and depending on measurements. Most dresses I make have full circle skirts, so I commonly need 5 yards of fabric. Most commercial patterns will call for anything between 3.5-5yards of fabric. So if I were to make a nice winter skirt out of a quality 100% wool sourced ethically, that’s easily $210 just for the outer layer of fabric. Being wool, it needs to be lined, usually with a sateen, plus hooks and eyes, zippers, thread, buttons, etc. and that is not even considering labor cost. Even when I have made myself cheaper items with lesser quality materials, they have almost always cost me at least $30 for the fabric alone. Commercial patterns are usually $20 per pattern, too, unless you draft your own patterns which is more labor. Even just making a purse for a coworker using a pattern I drafted myself, trim fabric from my stash, interfacing (the structure) from my stash, strap fasteners from my stash, and a zipper from my stash, the cost of the fabric and outside pocket zipper cost me $20 and that was plain printed quilting cotton , some of the cheaper available fabric. I didn’t charge for the labor, or my supplies I used, and I made the bag specifically to her liking and specifications, and she didn’t even pay me the $20. People assume clothes are cheap to make, and they are for fast fashion companies who make things designed to fall apart after a year or two at most, but things made by hand by an individual are quite expensive to make. I save a lot of money up just to be able to afford to sew myself one article of clothing that I know will last me 5-10 years at least. The fact that “Guess that OBCENE price!” has become an actual recurring segment despite sounding like a parody of a recurring segment like “Cheap or Steep” with Scott the Woz is just an added layer of comedy to the entire bit.
I don’t mind paying more for clothes - if they are actually good for their workers (all the way from distribution to the people who they source materials from) and if they are better for the environment (I love to thrift but it’s hard finding something that fits me). Some clothes makers are actually making more sturdy or better crafted clothing but it seems to be from a lot smaller companies than the major luxury brands. I do like fashion as an art form and a way to express yourself. I hate when it’s used to enforce classist, racist, etc hierarchies. I also get not wanting to care about your meat puppet’s adornments or only caring about their function. People have all different ways to express themselves and we don’t all need to care about clothes.
I know so little about fashion I actually don't know what flannel is, my thought process with clothes is that of a caveman, just cover up and stay warm
Fashion is really about what looks good on your body. No matter your body type, there will always be pretty clothes that don't look good on you and other clothes that are just astonishing when you wear them right. I want to wear a skin tight dress but I have obvious weird bumps, and I could ignore that and wear it anyway, but I've found other things that get me almost the same effect but "better" (if that word even makes sense, wear whatever makes you happy at the end of the day.)

I am a woman and even I never understood the obsession with fashion, that it is now a multi-billion $ industry. There's the notion that you have to get a new wardrobe every season because your current ones are "out of style". I have always thought that if you don't choose something that has outrageous design that would make you look like a peacock, you are fine. I always wear clothes that are comfortable, not because they are en vogue. Yup, I also never understood the movie The Devil Wears Prada. To me, they are just clothes.
7:35 On to topic of shoes, you can buy these rubber straps sorta thing to replace your shoe laces and it looks way more cooler than anything and more convenient since it just makes your shoes a slip on

2:57 THIS IS WHAT I NEED. sure, ideally i'd like to have a /couple/ different outfits, depending on weather, what i'm doing on any given day, so on, so forth, but for the past several weeks at least ive just been getting home from work every day and changing into a pixel-camo t shirt that i believe i got from the thrift store months back and lost in The Piles in my room immediately, camo shorts with decent sized pockets, and blue crocs i got in like 4th grade or thereabouts? so secondhand camo shirt, firsthand camo shorts from sams club, and crocs ive had for Well Over a decade.

Honestly, when I see velcro shoes, I automatically think you're a toddler lol. I don't care much about fashion at all but I certainly know an ugly pair of shoes when I see them. Plus, the velcro can loose it's "stick", or eventually peel off the strap. However, with shoe laces, you can just replace those for super cheap. And get a bunch of cool colours and designs!
@@kingblanketfort the thing that makes them look like toddlers shoes, is that they arent made fashionable enough to make them look prettier, and for older people. If they would be made more common then brands would make them look more pretty, and fashionable. Also the velcro could be made stronger by time, but brands dont care about velcro so it doesnt matter.
Goodwill employee here and that’s completely true, I can’t stand the resellers, they will take literally everything and anything, if there ten of the same cool pie of pants, you bet your ass they’re taking every SINGLE pair. But don’t let that stop you from thrifting, thrifting itself is ethical and good for alot of things, just hate the resellers. We can’t stop them and that kinda sucks.

You will be judged for wearing too much Cubus, especially if you're an American. Their clothes are indestructible.
I highly recommend bringing back cloaks because they are wearable blankets that you can stuff with as many pockets as you want on the front and leave the back blank and then you have a little bit of cushioning for whenever you sit down. It also provides a bit more protection from spiky plants that want to murder your legs and arms while you walk into the woods

7:02 jokes on you, we realized how useful they are and started buying them, then clothing companies realized this and made ‘feminine’ cargo pants, which completely ruins the utility and makes it impossible to find what you actually want!
At 6:41 In New Zealand, we have these things called ‘Oodies’. Essentially ‘Snuggies’. Kids, teenagers, adults, everyone can wear em. They make ‘em all in the same size (very big), so it is a blanket basically, but you can do anything with it. I have one, defo worth the money 👌
I once tried to investigate why so many people were saying cargo pants were uncool, and I wound up on this fashion subreddit where one person tried to explain why they enjoy them (utility) and this other person kept responding with "why can't you just wear a normal pair of pants" before linking 3 separate pairs of $400 chinos that literally only had a small back pocket. Why the fuck is fashion so obsessed with people not having things to carry on their person?? Like are you too cool to have car keys, a wallet, and a phone? I know people have purses as well but like, what if I don't want to carry all of my things in a bag I can lose because I forget shit? Does that make me uncool? Give me the cargo pants, please.
I love dressing up, but all of my clothes are from Goodwill or other thrift stores. And let me tell you, my fits have never been better. I couldn't imagine spending that much on clothing. My most expensive clothes are probably my shoes, because I have a common shoe size and wide feet, so it's worth a bit of extra money for shoes that won't fall apart on me
BEST LINE:"I don't know what any of my sizes are and that's your problem because this is America and you legally have to cater to the dumbest person in the room"
To add to this, let adult jeans have an adjustable waist. Just because I went through puberty shouldnt mean I have to go through this whole extra process looping up a belt when it could just be built into the jeans.

Tucker has come for both shoes & fashion. My soul aches😭 If only this man weren't so endearing... Note: Too many people hear "fashion" & think liking it means being obsessed with designer brands or following all the latest trends. But fashion can be a modified top from the thrift store, all the way to a bag that costs more than the rate of your average hitman... so I've heard. That's why I love it, because it's an art, it's an integral part of your self-expression. It can be anything from anywhere & still look incredible!
This tips mostly for the boys, but women also. If you ever looked at a purse as a man and went "man I wish I had space like that" get a jean jacket. Most of them will have two GIANT pockets on the inside that I legit put my entire life into when I go out, its like having a purse inside a jacket. And for the summer buy one cut the sleeves off I call it my "Summer Denim".
I love following so many people because I haven’t looked at this channel in two months and now i get to stay up until 3am laughing at one of the funniest people in existence. Also, i think we can all agree that his T-shirts are the epitome of fashion.
I primarly live with my sister and mom and they constantly berate me about my fashion sense so I'm a bit versed in terms of fashion but you will almost never catch me wearing anything brand new as most of my wardrobe consists of thrifted clothing as you find so many weird and cool clothing that you just end up buying and wearing and looking really cool. I'm find it funny how my generation finds skinny jeans weird even though we spend a obscene amount of money on pre-ripped jeans, like at least with skinny jeans you can accidently rip them and that arguebably looks cooler. Also, my generation is definitely bringing back cargo pants/shorts as I've been seeing more and more kinds wearing them, more women actually, so I'm glad that's happening.
I'm a 31 year old man. my entire 20s wardrobe was graphic videogame tees from TheYetee. My mom decided I needed to look more adult in my 30s, so she took it upon herself to buy me a bunch of spider-man shirts instead. which I am not complaining about.

They get a lot of crap but I go to a lot of public events in ties and cargo pants black cargo pants but it’s still really comfy and everyone hates me for it.😊
"Darkly colours"....😂😂😂😂
Sounds like you're ahead of the curve.
Fellow goth girl with cargo pants right here 🙋♀️🖤
I struggle with accessories as soemone who likes to dress alt it's so overwhelming sometimes and expensive
@@couch_philosoph3325 thrift shops and always watching taking advantage of clearance/sales are the best ways for me
As someone who wears a big sweater and baggy jeans almost every day, and hack and retch to wear anything even remotely tight, I feel your pain.
"I just wanna bitch about it" I love the honesty, and I am 100% with you on just how INSANE Fashion can get!
As someone who wears nothing but flannels and sweaters I agree: fashion is dumb.
Bro same
I know so little about fashion I actually don't know what flannel is, my thought process with clothes is that of a caveman, just cover up and stay warm
As someone who has the taste to dress really well, but who’s body shape means I look terrible in almost everything.
I approve of this video 👍
Fashion is really about what looks good on your body. No matter your body type, there will always be pretty clothes that don't look good on you and other clothes that are just astonishing when you wear them right. I want to wear a skin tight dress but I have obvious weird bumps, and I could ignore that and wear it anyway, but I've found other things that get me almost the same effect but "better" (if that word even makes sense, wear whatever makes you happy at the end of the day.)
My brother in christ I'm certain you'd look good in anything so don't you even worry about your body shape
@@hiper_blox5436 nah dude the other reply got it way more right lmao. (am on a diet and workout routine tho so i'll report back in 3 months
Knowing a new vid comes on a Friday, it's honestly what gets me through the week. Tysm ❤ you're the most honest and relatable creator and genuinely cannot get enough of you 😂😂

I had a teacher in high school who had Heelys. He didn't always have the wheels in them. I guess it was impractical for walking around the classroom, but sometimes he would just wheel into the class with them.
He was a fun teacher.
Dude rants about how he "doesnt know a thing about fashion" and then procedes to grace us with the most fashionable drip in existence that he posesses. Anyone would rock that "I'm hootin' on the outside but hollerin' on the inside" as well as the "This man are my son" shirts. Absolute drip king 👑
you're the most relatable and funny youtuber i've seen in a long time, keep it up man much love
As somebody who fails to find a shirt that doesn’t make people think I didn’t change at all in under an hour, I approve this video
cargo pants and shorts are a 10/10 fashion choice
2:22 i was about to comment that you should get your measurements. you read my mind and the "This is America, you have to cater to the dumbest person" argument is irrefutable haha
I love that he has game grumps merch because that's how you know someone's a good person
However, hearing him say "one minute power hour" made me wanna commit unalive🤣
I am a woman and even I never understood the obsession with fashion, that it is now a multi-billion $ industry. There's the notion that you have to get a new wardrobe every season because your current ones are "out of style". I have always thought that if you don't choose something that has outrageous design that would make you look like a peacock, you are fine. I always wear clothes that are comfortable, not because they are en vogue. Yup, I also never understood the movie The Devil Wears Prada. To me, they are just clothes.
Price: yes
Flappy things on the sleeves: yes
Trash bag as clothing and sell it for $1,000,000,000: yes

On to topic of shoes, you can buy these rubber straps sorta thing to replace your shoe laces and it looks way more cooler than anything and more convenient since it just makes your shoes a slip on
This man ate my son
I love fashion, not in the "I need to always be on the newest trends with the most popular brand" way, but in the "I really like putting outfits together bc it's fun to theme stuff and put it all together" way
8:08 “just be naked”
Aaaaaaand liked and subscribed
I love the call back to the number of pockets in cargo shorts being a affront to god’s will. Nicely done, as always ❤
This is the perfect idea for me as well as I would definitely like to have less clothes than I am expected for
as a female myself i can agree the reproduction system is very scary

Finally someone gets it. Every single time I go into a clothing store to buy clothes I just get overwhelmed and I leave empty-handed with a panic attack.
7:43 Healees I remember begging my mom to get me a pair next day cracked my skull at church now I'm an atheist 😅
I had this problem back in Middle School. That point I decided I just wanted to wear something that felt comfortable yet I can still do everything I needed to. Function over fashion but a function can be fashionable let's try it
I've been told "you're not a cartoon character!" because I legit wear the same thing 24/7,365
I have yet to be told that, but I'm only inches away especially during winter when I rotate between the same 4 or 5 sweaters
@@lordhellstrande2763 you're almost there lol 😆
Fun fact: Crocs are basically a fashion brand now. They’re sure priced as a luxury anyway
That's fucking nasty, how are the big rubber masturbatin shoes gonna be expensive
I totally agree with u with the velcro shoes r better bc they r like the shoe laces always untie which is so annoing but the velcro ones dont
Buy rubber laces- you tie them but you’re still able to slide them on and off. And they dinT lose
We can’t stop them and that kinda sucks.
relaxed fit jeans that stretch a little, to not limit movement. Single color t-shirt, my preference is Maroon. If you want a little fancier you can wear a unbutton shirt on top.
When I lived in Norway there was a store called Cubus and if you are into the "nine identical shirts in different colors and no logos for $115" lifestyle you'll want to pack a second empty suitcase next time you feel like hiking a fjord or two. You will be judged for wearing too much Cubus, especially if you're an American. Their clothes are indestructible.
Please tugg i need to know were to get those shirts 4:57
I highly recommend bringing back cloaks because they are wearable blankets that you can stuff with as many pockets as you want on the front and leave the back blank and then you have a little bit of cushioning for whenever you sit down. It also provides a bit more protection from spiky plants that want to murder your legs and arms while you walk into the woods
FUCK, SIR TUGG, I NEED MORE CONTENT I'VE ALREADY WATCHED EVERYTHING. SOME THINGS TWICE!
Of course take you're time and make sure you're mentally healthy. No need for burnout. Just know I'll be waiting here for you
I love this video. I basically wear the same style all the time: graphic tee with plain or cargo shorts. Jeans or cargo jeans for colder months. And a jacket if its really cold. I like it, and I'm sticking to it!
7:02 jokes on you, we realized how useful they are and started buying them, then clothing companies realized this and made ‘feminine’ cargo pants, which completely ruins the utility and makes it impossible to find what you actually want!
I just discovered you and I've been binging your videos for like an hour now. I'm having a great time, honestly.

In New Zealand, we have these things called ‘Oodies’. Essentially ‘Snuggies’. Kids, teenagers, adults, everyone can wear em. They make ‘em all in the same size (very big), so it is a blanket basically, but you can do anything with it. I have one, defo worth the money 👌
Same here in Australia
I wear cargo pants every day and i was soooo happy when you mentioned them. They are so underrated.
Give me the cargo pants, please.
the kermit tee goes hard tho
As someone who only wears button ups and t-shirts i very much appreciate this video

There are little clippy thingys - look up teddy bear pant clips
when I was workin in amsterdam 05 some dude heelied into the pub and straight to the bar. that man got his first drink free and my life changed that day
“this is america and you legally have to cater to the dumbest person in the room” oh how unfortunately true this is…
Tucker has come for both shoes & fashion.
I just have a bag, not sure if it would be considered a purse and quite frankly I do not care
I used my bag whenever I can as nothing beats that, I just like the built in storage space of the Jean Jacket. @@hiper_blox5436
