I have an old obs 7.3 powerstroke which I love, but I really want to find a crewcab 460 and 12 valve swap it. Then I have the best trucks with two of the best diesels. And manual for life!
Did you use the factory common rail engine mounts or were you able to stay with the second gen mounts. (Currently in the process of building a ppump 24v 3rd gen)
I wanna say it’s a 2nd gen 24 valve swaped into a 3rd gen it don’t have that common rail sound to it even a 2nd gen swaped common rail still has that sound i believe it’s a ppumped 2nd gen 24 valve inside a 3rd gen body
He didn't p-pumped the 5.9 common rail. He threw in a 24v from a 2nd gen and p-pumped that (they come stock with a vp44 which is the worst injection pump ever made)
@@jeffreyvandenbiggelaar1399 I know all about the 2nd gen 24v. I’ve started a restoration on one from pulling the cab to rebuilding motor. The vp44 catches a lot of shit but I never had issues out of it. Obviously you start pushing more fuel than what it’s rated for, you will need to upgrade pump itself. I ran a 165 gph lift pump to help supply 200 horse industrial injections injectors with a quadzilla tuner on it. Didn’t have issues. I planned on putting a hot rod vp44 on it.
@@half-assedandnotfast3375 I don’t think it’s that serious lol Plenty of cp3 running around an no issues with high mileage. Just know if you push more volume of fuel, you’re going to need to do a dual cp3 depending on how much fuel you add, and do a lift pump. You can’t abuse it and not expect it to break.
Haha I def would of…but a lot of people say as long as you build oil pressure, you can drive them rite away. Just don’t beat on it till operating temp. To each their own, but I’ll let my trucks idle in the driveway till operating temp.
ppumped 2nd 24v in a 3rd, revver up to 3k off the hop... no air filter this guys legendary
Awesome coldstart 🚙😉. Love the first 12 sec.
I can smell this video
That's pretty sweet! I love the old mechanical diesels... the fact that you can do that with the 24 valve is neat! :3
Fewer electronics to fail!
Love videos like these. I might do one next Ike I haul hay.
Love the start up lol

Great video! Have you done another video describing your conversion? Very interested to know your process. Thanks!
Things a Beast.
now time for that exhaust brake...Ggrrrrrrrrrr...chwaa
Wait did you not warm it up at all !
Or let it cool down after a run, even for a minute or two...
Hopefully the Cummins is still giving loyal service.
This would be the only way I'd swap a cummins
Did you swap the head or is it a 2g engine?

You will have to use your 3rd gen mounts but your mounts should bolt right to your 24v block.
Do all you gauges and options work?
I hope no one is equating smoke with power.
What size injectors and delivery valves you have
It's a 5.9 24v (V44?)?
No, it’s a P pumped 24v. Mechanical, not the electronic VP44 normally found on 24v units.
@@ChaseLandMgmt was it a vp44 prior or a common rail, I think he’s asking. That’s my question too.

no they run on kerosene

East Berlin PA
Okay I’m over in York I thought the area looked familiar nice truck 👍🏽
