I just finished restoring my 1995 kx 500 and when I got to the seat I called up decour visuals and they were awesome I sent them my seat and picked out the pattern and collors they sent it back to me with the cover installed and gave me an extra seat cover as well all for $80 I couldn't bealive it check them out there amazing and very reasonable

Nice I just picked up next project was told I was a idiot was a 06 yz250f and a 03 yz250f but the 03 was just parts bike, any how the lady told me her son ripped it apart cause something with swingarm but the engine supposedly ran and they bought the 03 figuring they could use parts. I got them home Tuesday around noon by Wednesday 11am the 06 was running and back together I paid $325 us for both bikes have sold the old head for $150 off the 03 lol
The 85 CR500 was no fun to ride with my skill level. Just way to abrupt. The 89 CR500 i have still needs tuning so power wise i cant tell yet. The power delivery on the KX500 is so smooth its easy to ride slow or fast. Sitting on the bike and handling wise i like the 89 CR500. I think if you had a KX500 motor in a CR500 frame, you would have the best of both worlds.
Can you enlighten me on the technique you used to put the final polish on the tank? So far, it's looking good......it's amazing that we consider a KX500 as a daily rider. Had a couple YZ465's and they were pretty abrupt for my skill level....luckily I was in the desert. Keep the Faith
you shoulda cleaned it first. its kinda like wearing a brand new outfit but you still have on your old dirty shoes, it throws the whole thing off. I know you will clean it cuz you make all your bikes look nice but i would have waited until it was cleaned to put the plastics on.
Your son will be very proud and lucky to have you for a father who repairs the old dirtbikes..

Just 1000 grit sandpaper and water. Then a sheepswool buffing pad on a drill

Lol Unfortunately no, i actually sold it a little while back. I have the set of 89 CR's now. The 89 CR500 sits lower and is more comfortable to ride.
