In 1994 Yves Deruyter, Axel Stephenson and Franky Kloeck teamed up for a project which they called Cherrymoon Trax. The first release was the hard trance track “The House Of House”. Because of the upcoming 30th anniversary of “The House Of House”, I sat down with Yves Deruyter, to ask him about the story behind this massive classic.
We recorded the interview in Dutch, so make sure to turn on the English subtitles!
Enjoy and thanks for watching!

What is your favorite version of "The House Of House"?
Always original, from 1994 :)
all of them
Love the Push remix but this is one of the few tracks where the original mix takes the cake
Original and Thomas Schumacher Remix
Original & Thomas Schumacher Remix!
The Cherry Moon in Lokeren, the best club we ever had in Belgium, I was there every weekend, this was something like a religion, everyone was there for the music, unique sound, amazing lasers and the best DJ's ,Yves Deruyter will remain an icon of the Cherry Moon ,all my respect for the other ones also of course, I decided to write this comment immediately after discovering this video, I sent it immediately to my 5 younger brother, we are 43 and 48 years old, when we hear The House of House we just get emotional about the nostalgy of that time ,if we could turn back in time just for one night it would be at 100 % back to the Cherry Moon! People who didn't live this period can not understand, Belgium and particularly Flanders was a club paradise, I can't forget that unique atmosphere of the Cherry Moon and listening again and again to The House of House gives us goosebumps, Thanks Yves for the unforgettable moments you have offered us, Vittorio and Liborio from Brussels and Bruggeletee 😁🔈👍👍👍
I was there in Dortmund and the first time he played the house of house in the Cherry Moon. What an amazing time ❤
Oh lucky you, that is awesome!!!
Maybe we danced to it next to each other ;)
Frissons de partout en montée d'EVA
It was in 1996, I was 13 years old. I went to a summer camp for 3 weeks in the north of France. A hifi system was siting in the main area with a pile of CDs next to. This system was for "party nights" we had from time to time. Among the CDs, I remember the Police or french songs. But one black and white single-CD got the attention of all kids and especially me. The music was out of this world, like nothing I ever heard. A long intro, weird repetitive sounds, dark and scary atmosphere and a weird voice saying things I don't understand. It was the house of house! Every time we were playing it, we were dancing like crazy. It was the first track of techno I ever heard. I got lucky to have my birthday in the middle of this summer camp and as a gift I ask the manager to offer me that mysterious CD. He refused... It took me 6-7 years, to cross that song again, and all my memories came back. I never left that song since then, still as an MP3 file on my computer. Now I dedicate all my life to electronic music, working in the DJ software industry. All maybe because of that track, or at least it was the beginning of the journey. So thank you so much Yves (and friends) for having made it. The story behind it is beyond fascinating. Thanks to Twan too!
the original.. still gives me goosebumbs and reminds me of the wonderful era of the cherrymoon

Nice profile pic 😉🙌🏻
@@muzikxpress Thank you 😃
OMG this is really a timeless classic. This was one of the most played tracks when i started with Techno. A real party banger which still works today.
Hope you enjoyed the interview!
Yess! Thanks for huge job, Interview! Greetings from Brave Kyiv!
Thanks so much mate!!
You that day in the studio when they finally played it , everyone was having a blast
That's a pure classic, found on many Belgium's disco-anthems ! TOP 10 of the Trance Music...
Congratulation to M.I.K.E., Yves Deruyter and all the Belgians anthems for releasing these good masterpieces ! Most of Trance Music are generally cool Tracks to buy and listen. Long life to the Trance and Bonzai's Anthems, I clearly understand why and I'm truly into keeping this style alive.
This track is an anthem. An absolute classic. A top class banger. A superb interview, Twan. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks so much! Big anthem for sure!!
Thank you for the Interview.
I think Yves is right when he or others think, perfects tracks Like "The House of House" simply do not need any improvement.
Question of respect as well.
Thanks Christian!
Well.... Thomas Schumacher added a 303-line. It's never wrong to add an Acid-line. 😀
In the 90's and early 2000's I was playing this in the clubs I used to mix at. One of my all time favorite classics. I'm from USA.
Kiekevelllllll
Love the track - massive, dramatic, but uplifting at the same time. Thank you!
Just an amazing guy, Yves is! How many hits this man has made or collaborated on, ❤🎉🎉
That Spacefrog Lost in space remix is still amazing 😋
Nice Work
One of my All Time Classics, still playing in every set, nice again dude !!
Thank you for back in time. A Belgian house addict.
What a legend!
Great as always thanks!
Thanks a lot Dean!
I still rock this classic, one of the best. Thank you for the English subs Twan
Super!
Thank you!
Thanks for the vlog interview Twan! Can’t believe I had not heard of this classic gem before. Another era banger like Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth.
Thank you Alex!!
They also played it "live" in 1994 at the Raving Society Mayday with "Wayfarer" from Phrenetic System and at the "Great Coalition"-Mayday one year later in Frankfurt. I still see the people going nuts in Frankfurt, it was simply insane what an impact the track made on the dancefloor. Until today, this is one of the best Trance-Tracks ever produced. I can imagine that this is hard to remix, the track is kind of simple but ultra functional - really difficult to make this one better.
Thank you !
Topper 🎉
Ohh Twan, your Dutch is so good! :D
Doing my best 😜
@@muzikxpress :D
Leuk interview weer twan.
Thanks Twan :)
And thank you too!!
Very good interview ! It would be interesting to make a video on the mythical club " La Rocca " in Lier, on the " Sundays Parties " with Dj Marko.
Thank you! And that's not really something I'm doing. For my channel I focus on stories behind big hits / famous classics from the past with the people responsible for those tracks. Maybe someone else who has a lot of knowledge about the club can do that, but it is not something I would do, that is not what Muzikxpress is about, sorry ;-)
@muzikxpress I love this track (that is the original mix)
The best tracks like this age well and are still great to hear. Only thing is the mastering for the era, which is.... err....
Immortal track but for me In my house is best banger of this project
Another classic!
totally agree with him about nina kraviz' remix. never got why many artists produce tracks that way nowadays, deliberately not letting it go off when the beat kicks in after a break...
EDM really started that. Unfortunately the EDM plague continues to infect music and it's unlikely going to go away in the tik tok age. It's the arrangements it ruined. You can't dance to it because you're just waiting for the bit to dance to
@@drifter402 it already started in the 2000s with the minimal tech house hype.
Nina kraviz is a clown. Business techno. Nothing to do with real techno
What a classic!!!!
I played a couple of times the original mix and Thomas Schumacher remix and I cant explain the vibe! The crowd exploded!
Massive classic 🙌🏻
Thanks Twan
Gracias Hernán! 🙌🏻 Such a great track!
Mega sympa dude.
Twan, it would be absolute amazing if you could interview Yves (or M.I.K.E, or both) about Extreme Trax - Final Fantasy.
For now I'm not really looking for requests or doing suggestions, see the post from early April in the community tab. I have soooo much interviews coming up, I simply don't have time now for new ones. FYI, I'm trying to get a new interview with M.I.KE. for more than 2 years now, but he is based in New York these days, so he's not around all the time. Plus I have my work as well, so I can't really take time off all the time either. Don't forget this is "just" a hobby for me, I'm doing all of this by myself in my spare time ;-) But.... the track is on my wish list for sure, hopefully one day, but for sure not anytime soon (sorry!).
@@muzikxpress ok 😃 thanks for all the amazing interviews you have done 👍fantastic.
@@janterjeandersen5708 thank you! More to come very soon 😉
Oh dat is ook een goeie!
I'll never forget that intro by Yves (same name like me) in Dortmund. It was Mayday Reformation on April 30, 1995. It was an incredible night and Yves' set topped it all for me. Definitely an unforgettable memory I will cherish forever! that's how it looked for us in the middle of the crowd -> ruclips.net/video/Hp1Pjh86klo/видео.html
Nice one! And pretty good quality considering how old the footage is! Lucky you to be there at that time, very cool!
@@muzikxpress yes pretty good quality for 1995, and what a gift I was there, it was so amazing!
Thank you so much Maxime!
which remix is the second song that plays?
Cherry Moon Trax IV - In my Electric House
Nina Kraviz's version❤
So you're telling me Vini Vici didn't start this banger?
Awesome
Haha definitely not lol
