    What is your favorite Ferry Corsten production or remix?

    • @calebgolstonofficial
      @calebgolstonofficial 5 лет назад +18

      I agree with Johny. Ferry has the most impressive discography of any artist in dance music history, in my opinion. As for best song, I always go back to "Beautiful" and I think "Anahera" is a contender for greatest trance song of all time.

    I love watching all of these Muzikxpress uploads Twan, there have certainly been some great ones since you started, but honestly, I think you've set yourself a new standard with this one right here!
    Absolute brilliant from start to finish, and everything was so professionally put together. The use of old footage was a really nice touch too. So cool.
    As for the interview itself, it's always a pleasure listening to Ferry. The passion bursting from him just leaves you hanging onto his every word, and I found myself shouting out loud in agreement to things (such as regarding remixes of new Gouryella tracks) and so on.
    So good I've watched this three times in full already. I hope it'll be shared on Ferry's socials too and that you'll gain many more subs from it like you deserve to.
    Keep it up!! \o/

      Trance Classics I kind of agree about these tracks not needing remixes, however had that been the case in the past we wouldn’t have had the Transa remix of Tenshi, which I would argue is ever-so-slightly superior to the original.
      Admittedly that is the exception to the rule, though Green Courts’ Ligaya was a guilty pleasure of mine back in the day 😂

      The $ comes afterward naturally as byproduct. Ferry Corsten is already pretty much well-off set for life multi-millionaire making more than most producers...because he has a go-to niche contrasted to all the same old repetitive EDM djs who won't stand out from the noise.

    Trance these days never touches me like the stuff from the late 90's and early 2000's but when "Anahera" came out it did exactly that... just wow! Ferry is such an amazing artist. Thanks for doing yet another interview with him, loved the "Out Of The Blue" one as well.

    Respect for Tiesto's contribution to Gouryella, but as a fan I'm so happy that Ferry picked up the baton again. I had always suspected that Tiesto's involvement was secondary for the most part, this confirms it. Not to sell Tiesto short. It was a genre he helped define, but his absence has taken away some of its original edginess. Back in the early days, I always equated Tiestos sound with a darker, more serious approach, and these days, even though Trance is much healthier, that underground feeling is missed. Ferry has always been my favorite producer, however, and I can't imagine the genre without him. Thanks for a wonderful interview.

      As I've always said, Tiesto has no idea how to produce music, when you look at Ferry and many other DJ's that produce there own music, Tiesto is the one that uses music engineers, yes his influence helps create the music (a bit) but technically he is not in the same league as the likes of Ferry etc

    Very nice interview Twan. What I do like about Ferry is that he knows what he is doing. He is a talented guy.
    I really like what he said about music like Gouryella do not need remixes, it is what it is. I do not hope he will rush with anything with Gouryella or System F, quality over quantity any day.
    And I still feel lucky getting The Gouryella album box with the vinyl.
    When Ferry had his first big gig in Norway he was booked as System F and not Ferry Corsten.
    Keep on with interviews Twan, you do a great job.

  • @technologywontsaveus
    @technologywontsaveus 5 лет назад +10

    Ah, great interview, man. Thank you. Ferry Corsten has done so many great tracks under many different aliases over more than 20 years. He seems like a very likeable guy. It's important to notice that he changed his sound to more electro or even EDM/bigroom, because he didn't feel it (also the market can play a role). We fans expect so much of an artist we love. He should produce music we love over and over again, but he shouldn't do always the same stuff but also shouldn't drift off into genres we can't stand. But we can't see the market, the business stuff, the company, the human being, the taste changing behind the music. I'm glad that Ferry is in the position to say no to "put your hands up, boom boom boom" EDM and do what he likes instead of just having to do it only for the money.
    I don't only listen to trance. I listen to many many genres and artists. That keeps things fresh. There are only so many good tracks in the best genre and listening to only the same genre is getting a bit boring over time. Imagine a music producer, who has to not only produce music full time, but also play it every week. Today I'm very cool about beloved musicians doing stuff I don't like or changing their style even into a commercial direction. I don't like everything of Ferry Corsten, didn't care much about his latest productions, but that doesn't change that he made tons of great tracks and remixes where many of them I personally can consider classics or evergreens. If he releases something I enjoy I'm happy, and if not, that's fine too. :)

      More exposure to new and younger audience who also have good classic taste!

    Great interview. Thank you for letting ferry speak and finish what he was saying before you asked your next question. Not enough people do that these days. Gouryella was a big part of my teen years and gave me that heavenly nostalgia feel that we couldnt quite grasp what was going on deep inside our souls. Reminiscing about something we couldnt remember. Perhaps something that existed in a past life. Thank you ferry for giving us a glimpse of heaven and euphoria.

    Tiesto sticking his name on productions he even didn't produce even back in 1998. Tiesto feat. Sidewinder - Gouryella (6.33) before it even got released. Should have at least been called Sidewinder & Tiesto - Gouryella (Original Mix), considering it was Corsten who produced it.

    Back in 2015-2016, i was inspired by Armin's "One Year with Armin van Buuren" (2012), but now i understand, that, those documentary was about Armin as artist, DJ, about his travels, experience and different situations. But, not as producer or musician, it's never was in that documentary. Now, last 2-4 year, the interview like THIS inspire my the most. Especially with Ferry, it's feels like this man ARE produce those tracks, this music, that he connected to this music world, and i admire by him.

To see Ferry still have that passion for creating and innovating is awesome to see. The story behind Gouryella is fascinating with the collaboration with Tiesto and the revival of Gouryella with Anahera years later. I kinda have a interesting relationship with Ferry - yes, relationship. I first met him in 2001 but had been listening to his stuff since 1998. Through countless parties and multiple meetings, I’ve never had enough superlatives that I could think of to describe Ferry as a musical/trance genius but more importantly as a genuinely good human being. This is, to me, the pinnacle of what trance is all about. It has always been about being yourself, being free, and as expressive and emotive as you want to be. His music granted me the ability to truly love something for which I will never care if anyone else likes it or not (trance music). Its sway and influence in my life has been so pervasive and profound that I would literally be a completely different person without trance and specifically the music of Ferry Corsten.
    There really is no better trance producer past, present, and dare I say, future. We literally have been blessed with a once in a multiple-lifetime gift for which we actually do not even fully comprehend yet just how lucky we are.
    Thank you for everything Ferry. It’s been 15 years or so since we last met but your impact on me still is as strong as ever. I hope to one day see you tear it up again. 😊
    Twan: Thank you for this incredible interview. Top notch!

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! And .... trance is not Ferry's roots actually hehe... He started with techno, then hardcore (even gabber), he did some ambient, drum & bass, house and then around 1996 he started to experiment with trance (Moonman etc). But most of his stuff has always been melodic. Plus Ferry never really left trance, even when he did some more EDM-ish tracks, he kept on producing trance tracks. The only thing Armin has in common with Tiësto and Steve Aoki is that they both play on Mainstages of big festivals. Tiësto was the one who left Trance, Armin didn't.
      Armin still releases Trance on a regular basis. 12 tracks on his last album were Trance. And even in the last years, most of what he brought out was actual Trance music.
