    What is your favorite BT production or remix?

    • @AdaptiveRider
      @AdaptiveRider 5 лет назад +20

      Theres way too many. I have over 100 unique worldwide releases from BT and love everything this modern day master has ever created. Been a massive fan since 2001 when I was 16, and been collecting his work since 2003. I finally met him this past June on tour with All Hail The Silence, and I have to admit that Christian Burns is my favorite vocalist paired with BT. Paralyzed has always meant a lot to me because I was paralyzed in a hit and run accident in 2008, but before that This Binary Universe, Giving Up The Ghost, Godspeed, The Emergency, Suddenly, and Loving You More, and of course Flaming June have always been some of my favorites! He new album is incredible as always and been dream fuel for me every night since it was released a few weeks ago!

    BT was one of the first tance artists I was into and it was all thanks to the Digital Empire compilation which had Flaming June. Being a late 90s raver I consumed alot of X and this track (along with just about anything from BT) could almost bring me to tears. But after the build up and the beat drops back in you instantly get so hyped you can't help but dance. I saw him twice and to hear this, Remember and Blue Skies live is AMAZING and BT would get SO energetic while hammering away on the synths that those shows will never be forgotten. I also got to see him play a remix of Smells like Teen Spirit which was bad ass. When you sit in the dark and really open your ears and your mind to absorb just how much is truly happening in his compositions. There is NO other electronic producer that can match him on the technical side of production. Try to name a song that is as memorable as Flaming June, Mercury & Solace or Godspeed that is also as complex yet flawless...I'll wait. And lets not forget his more funky tracks like Love Peace & Grease or NEver Gonna Come Back Down.

    • @JV-jg8bs
      @JV-jg8bs 2 года назад

      Same here. I first heard of BT on that Digital Empire compilation in the late 90s with Flaming June. I credit that track for introducing me to trance, which is still my favorite genre.

      I read a comment saying BT is the father of trance but look at what Matt Darey did with Li Kwan Point Zero in 1994 (my favourite tune ever!), only 2 years after Age of Love which, though a classic, does sound very dated. BTW, I'm in no way disagreeing with your comment.

      back then stuff like limp bizkit (nu-metal) and mariah carey pop/rap hybrid songs were popular. trance never was a thing in MOST places. at most, people were familiar with cheesy electronic songs like darude - sandstorm and Ian Van Dahl - Castles In The Sky

    • @theriddick2735
      @theriddick2735 День назад

      Because trance music was birthed in Europe and the internet didn't exist so the world was a much smaller place back then. A beautiful time when you had people who loved the music for what it was, not because it was the next 'big' thing.

    ‘Dreaming’ was amazing. Vocal trance juxtaposed with breakbeats and early ‘breaktweak’ effects, acidic bass lines, lovely orchestral elements like the strings section - it had a bit of everything. I think I recall Brian saying this was recorded in the Mac OS9 and probably Cubase days. The mind boggles at how he did something so amazing with the tech at the time. Total nostalgia for me, yet it still maintains a sound of an optimistic future... Love it

I remember calling in to request Flaming June to play on our university's local radio station one time, and my friends were in awe when they heard it for the first time. Interesting to hear how some of my favorite classics come about. I hope we get to hear those demo versions of Flaming June someday; also curious on what video game that is he's composing for. Twon,
    I closed for BT in the late 1990s in Buffalo, NY, USA. Before I went on, I got to interview (I still have it on mini-cassette and need to transfer it) him and just generally hang out. It was around the time Flaming June came out. Anyway, after the show he invited friend and I on his tour bus and gave us what were supposed to be a 'few beers'. My friend not being very gentlemanly, proceeded to drink ALL of the booze he had on his tourbus and it resulted in BT kicking us OFF his tour bus! Haha.
    Anyway, I've bumped into him a few times since and he remembers that time well. We always chuckle at 'That time in Buffalo'.
    I'll never forget just how passionate he was about music and technology as well. He comes across as arrogant in interviews, but I could see it was just him truly expressing love for the craft and his peers that inspired him.
    Years later I handed him one of my own productions and after bumping into him a year after that, I asked him what he thought. He completely started flipping out about a certain sample I'd used from Tears For Fears and how I managed to make it the way I did. It was a huge compliment because that technique was a direct lift from what BT used to do with editing breakbeats. There's very few times I've been in total awe from one of my production heroes, but that was the ultimate compliment to a person who could barely string two notes together (me)!

    Really interesting to hear from BT. One of my favourite producers of all time. Great to see how humble and grateful he is for how wel his records are received and you can just feel the passion for what he does just oozing out of him. Great interview.

    BT talks about how Flaming June speaks to people who weren't even alive yet. I was born in 98 after this came out and this is my favorite trance song of all time. I am also from the US so even though it's gotten better, it sucks not growing up with the classic trance scene because of my age and my location. I am a big fan of Tori Amos too and love some of the remixes of Blue Skies so it was cool he worked with her when she is not really known for doing dance music

    This has always been one of my favourite tunes. The Perfecto Fluoro triple CD album I bought back in the 90's had this on it and many other of my favourite tunes. I need to find that orchestral version right now. I also didn't realise I'd missed so much of his music. Those ambient albums sound very appealing.
