  • We're Mitza Creek Farm.....just a family of 5, and since 2016, we've been trying to rebuild this old dairy farm into a productive homestead & farm. We grow pumpkins, Christmas trees, veggies, beef, lamb & poultry. We're in zone 3B in Northern Wisconsin, so we experience hot, humid summers, and frigid, extreme winters. Please subscribe to our channel and watch this journey tae place. We decided to try to use some polyrope fencing for a temporary grazing area for our goats. After a quick walk through on how to set up the fence, Sidney's on her own to figure it out. Will it work? Mitza Creek Farm is a small, diversified farm/homestead located in Northern Wisconsin (zone 3B). Even though I have no agriculture experience prior to purchasing our property in 2016, I am working hard to heal our land regeneratively, using our grass-fed cows, sheep and pastured poultry. I grow produce, pumpkins & squash, mums/fall flowers and Christmas trees, plus often DIY projects around our farm. Follow along with me as I work in my high tunnel, with our animals, and dig in the dirt.

Ratliff tiny acre homestead definitely! We have 65 acres, 45+ of which is super overgrown (an old dairy farm) if this works, it could make a huge difference in property management (for a lot cheaper)

We broke our goats to a hot wire inside a permanent fence! Also the Livestock Guardian Dogs.
Then used netting which was quite comical the first day, getting horns hung up in it! Stay close that day.
We now can use three ploy ropes.
We want to try Gallagher new four ploy, with built in posts. It is 320 feet long with a reel!
#aluminumchickentractor work with sheep/ goats also!

"Ok, thanks for letting us know" usually follows, "your goats are out again"

😂 That's what I hear. These guys are usually pretty good though.

We love our big goats! They are so much easier (and lazier) than little ones.

How do you like that type of fence for your goats ?

It works good for them, as long as it stays hot and they have plenty of browse (so as a temporary paddock) It probably wouldn’t for other goats who want to escape though! We still do this with them for grazing unfenced areas.

What breed of goats are these? I am new to goats and don’t know much about them.

I'm having a problem with the polywire not keeping in Nigerian dwarfs

Ugh! That’s one of the reasons why we chose not to get ND. If you want portable fence for them, maybe an electro-net? I don’t think step in posts have insulators close enough to keep them in? Maybe the posts that are a metal Rod with insulators you add?
