I don't know what was cutest, the chickens being shoved out of the barn like a persons first shove out of a plane, or the goats jumping the stream! So nice to see the goats eating the brambles and grasses. I watch another youtube channel and they have 5 goats that eat nothing but grass and the woman's family just got 2 sheep for her birthday. All eating on about a half acre. Its crazy! Your place is turning into a real working farm and that is awesome! Blessings!

Here's one goat tip from Serbia: sometimes when a goat doesn't have milk, stinging nettle can provoke a goat's udder start producing it, even if she didn't have a kid that year. Apparently old goat folks here realized that if they took no milking goats across the pasture that had stinging nettle on it, their udders would get stung a little, and the reaction would be appearance of milk :) So then, when they had a goat with no milk, they would rub a little nettle tips on udder to make the milk happen. :)
Im a city kid in the uk so i know nothing of farm animals tricks. If that is true, then that is plain fascinating. Im curious to see if that actually happens.
pianovoce wow! it might pay to research that first, in case it varies from area to area. no sense in putting the girls thru that un-necessarily, poor things. plus im sure there is a supplement you can buy or something?
I myself personally never had a goat that had no milk, and that it appeared when I did this. But that is an old folks remedy here. The best that my experience goes, is that I know a person who's goat had no kids yet and is not pregnant, she's about 18 months old. She does have great genetics though, her mother is a great milk goat, and the mother of her father is also a great milk goat. She started having full udder of milk after going on a full day pasture with goat keeper and other goats. The goat keeper herds them and takes them to woods and bushes, they walk up to 10 miles per day, where they can choose what branches and what leafs they like to eat. They climb rocks and trees to reach their food. That type of terrain is full of stinging nettle, so burning their udder a little while reaching the favorite leaf is an everyday event for these goats, also falling, headbutting etc. Anyways, she asked in a group is it normal and how come her goat started giving milk, and is it even ok to consume it, and few of the answers were - that it could have happened because of the stinging nettle, and that it is one of the old folks remedies, that they would even rub some on udder to make the milk appear :)

Haha great video! We set our goats out to clear for us a few weeks ago and YES the milk tasted different. It tasted like "green" lol like it smells when you cut your lawn. I didn't like it. How fun! Let us know about your milk taste.

I have Lamancha cross goats and they eat everything, right down to the dirt. Dried leaves, sticker bushes, bark off of cedar trees, I mean everything. They truly are natures land clearing beings.

YES!!!!!! Oh man that first shot of the tall weedy brush looked so much like our property. Well, minus your amazing Creek of course. 😀😀😀😀
That creek is fun in the Spring, but it dries up in the summer. We have another creek that runs all summer. Last summer we had a pretty bad drought and it still ran a little.

I love watching how fast the baby goats are growing. Hey Bri I was wondering are you still thinking of getting the girls a pony? I hope so, if you do you should get one that both rides and drives, that way when you need to move hay you can use the pony to pull a wagon to move your hay. Or pull a sleigh in the winter. LOL

Nice getting to put the goat in a weedy pasture. I heard you say there is poison ivy. You might want to wear gloves when moving the goats. If they get it on their coats you can get the oil from the poison ivy on your hands. Ouch. Love you videos.
oops just realized you may not see the comment I posted... I went to watch when you let the goats run free in the woods and left a comment there for you for solutions to feeding the animals and getting your farm going!
Do you feed your goats anything in addition to what they eat on your property? I have four small goats that eat on our 1 acre property and give them purina goat chow every night plus they have hay in their house. I am confused when I watch all these homesteading videos and everyone does something different but no one gives specifics. Can you help me PLEASE? I just want to know how to feed my babies!!

My friend has goats. land has a lot of poison ivy. She use get it all time. Sense she has been drinking milk from her goats that eat poison ivy she is immune to it.

Sorry for bombing your comment thread...but yes I have been told that goats eat poison ivy. I only know because we have a TON of poison ivy on our property.
In fact we once watched a mini documentary about a company that hires out goats to clear and KILL poison ivy.
Evidently poison ivy is one of their favorite things to eat.
