"If you are man enough not to go with the 200hp V4, this bike is perfect for you." Best words I've heard from a reviewer in a long time. Not all of us are street Rossis, some just want to go and have fun on a Sunday morning. I'd guess most of the riders out there are like that.
It’s mad to think not long ago a 155hp engine was what the top litre bikes made. And now we’ve got a “middle weight” doing it 😀 (and a middle weight is over 900cc. Lol). Also I rode (& raced) 600s for a long time in the fast track day groups & regional races... you definitely don’t need a big bike for that.
its not a middle weight, it is a v2 liter bike. back 20 years ago, everyone was building on these setups (rc51,tl1000,996,rsv). this is just the polished version.
WAY better review than the other media outlets, real information about the riding while still retaining the spec sheet data. MCN and VisorDown could learn a thing or two from this. That out the way, the new V2 looks very promising to those who want a track day toy that is a bit sexier than it is purely tactile. I am one of those people, and I love this new generation of 959. Might need to fill the track toy space with one of these.
Nice review. Very informative & entertaining. What I like is that you didn’t just recite Ducati’ s marketing messages and propaganda. Instead, you dug, tested and delivered a very convincing road test. Keep up the good work. 🏆🏆
This is on my short list when selecting a track bike. I want a bike to just have fun, I'm not racing, or looking to being the best on track, and this looks to fit the bill perfectly.
Brilliant John, enjoyed that as usual and gotta agree I'd also prefer this beauty over the V4 for the road and even track...The hp war is getting a tad silly nowadays...
Se siente más delgada , saliendo de una r6 y una r1 pero por poder velocidad y agarre no tengo ninguna queja me encanta mi panigale v2. Tu video esta muy bueno, Saludos.
Funny to think this is now regarded as a 'middleweight' Sportbike/Superbike, when in power and weight, it is pretty much bang on with the old 1098. As a real-world proposition, I'd have this over a V4 any day of the week.
Totally agree: I’m just not in to the bigger bikes. The middle weight versions always appeal to me more. And I’m a decent rider (middleweight club champion in US).
I just got one of these. I absolutely love everything about it EXCEPT the heat is 220°C at your legs which means on a hot day you’re sweating buckets in leathers, and also the signal and mirrors are cheaper than anything I’ve every paid $20k for! It’s pretty cheap to change the mirrors to handlebar and shaved signals…but it’s a must for any owner for sure
I needed that "man enough to not get the V4" bit. I'm in the market for a Panigale. Was thinking about getting a V4 over the V2 because more power, knowing I can't handle that power. Thanks, V2 it is.
I really like the Panigale V2, but something I’ve noticed with Ducatis in the past several years is the exhaust note seems to lack the deep bass sound. My 888 Ducati with full race Fast By Ferracci carbon exhaust has an exhaust note that’s incredibly deep, and you can feel the exhaust percussion in your chest....something that seems to be missing with the newer Ducatis. It’s not necessarily an issue, and the Panigale V2 will run circles around my 888, but I still prefer the sonic booming classic Desmoquattro sound over the new moaning/groaning sound of the newer Ducatis.
Having a 899, stomp grips on the tank alone wont help much. If you look at your outside knee on corners, they are lowerthan the tank grips would be placed. So additional grips need to be placed lower on the body. A cheaper alternative to adjustable pegs
I'm starting to think the v2 might lack abit of the tourq I'm usto my 996 an I waigh 115kg I might upgrade to a 1098 or 1198 I think I'll keep looking into it v2 seems very good value tho

Pitching the rider forward is a good idea, I think. The 899 never felt as sporty to me as the 998 that I had before. I'd take the latter over a 748 anytime, btw.
But is it worth the extra 6 -7k for a new one over a 2017 959? Single sided swingarm and updated looks are really nice but that's a big chunk of money.
Great video but that damn MCAMS ad crash noise at the start is terrifying every time - I listen to lots of RUclips while riding and it always scares the CRAP outta me. :(

848 and 959 are two VASTLY different feeling bikes. How do you say they feel the same? This is the thing with reviews.. it’s just one mans opinion with zero accuracy to others.
Having ridden them on the track, they are different absolutely, but what I believe he means is that after only a couple minutes you can kind of click and understand the familiar ducati feel for these panigale models. Yes they are different, but being the same line of bikes just newer you will tend to find a samey feeling pretty quick going from one to another

A 959 V2 "a middleweight", lol. I don't think so. Lovely bike though. The beautiful 848 was the last true Middleweight [or super middleweight as I call them] from Ducati in this class. When it became an 899 that became a superbike in it's own right.

I bet it still would b more expensive than new fireblade.
Fireblade and panigale v2 are not even in the same segment. Firblade competes with panigale v4.
