What a bike, BMW’s technicians built this bike to show what they were capable of, and what a bike, grunt, handling and stopping power, crap mirrors…. loved riding it, wish I still had it…. But I’ve said that about many bikes
At the time I drooled over a HP2 Megamoto. That journey took me to a Nuda 900R, 990 SMR, and then finally a Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP (never selling). Maybe one day a Bimota DB10 might show up and I'll lose my inhibitions.
As an ex R1100S owner this is still my "if I would win the Lotto Money" motorcycle purchase! Absolutely stunning carbon tail subframe. And the best thing is BMW actually raced it in at Le Mans 24 hours. Making it a proper homologation special. With the race exhaust this bike sounds like the "horns of Jericho" epick stuff
One of the coolest sportbikes ever made. I got a chance to take a short test ride on one, and I should have bought it. I wish manufacturers would make more unique machines like this.
Thanks for your input, but I’m not sure how ‘getting out more’ is relevant to sharing my thoughts on the bike. This bike was truly unique, and I’d love to see manufacturers take more creative risks like this. It’s great that we can all share our perspectives here.
Nice, thanks for the video. I had the BMW HP2 Enduro and of all my bikes in 50 years, it still is my favorit. After mods the wet weight was down to 184kg, with 125hp and 125nm. It constantly tried to kill me, huge fun with supermoto wheels.
Great review! I've been looking forward to this since you said it would be the next bike after your HP4 video back in August. Well worth the wait - thanks.
I absolutely love this bike Tim Thompson had one on a track day I was at in France and it was as quick as the R1 & Blades of the day on the short twisting track
I had a nearly new on bought from Bahnstormer in Alton - had it about a year then sold it back to them for a 1200 GSA. It WAS good, - but it wasn't amazing. That said its worth WAY more now than I paid for it, and I do regret selling it. If I had limitless funds I would have another one. My old bike BTW (using the GOV MOT check) has only done about 200 miles since I sold it in 2011(ish)
Well BMW was already making a high performance, shaft drive I4 at the time which was in the K1200s. It would have been sweet if they spec'd out a HP K1200.
Nah, gears were fine, pulled alongside by buddy up to 150’ish, then he took off on his s1000rr, as a road bike I found it a perfect blend of race & road stuff, great road sports bike. IMO obvs. I could do with shorter gearing on my S1xr though.
You guys ever notice how many Germans will don orange colored suits, among other loud colors like light blues? This bike´s aesthetics carries the torch of such Teutonic tastes. It´s interesting but I´ll pass all the same.
Shame that motorcycle like this doesn't build anymore that are special to look, drive feeling and not too fast. Motorcycle fromm 2000 to 2010 had so much more character than today (too much hp over 200, no more V2 almost just parallel twin....). Aprilia rsv/tuono 2nd gen, early monsters ducati, hypermotard 1100, husqvarna nuda , suzuki sv 650 2nd gen will be future classic. No electronic just pure ride, today motorcycle get too flashy, who has more money to buy and show off. Not too much special motorcycle anymore (apart from Honda cb 1000 hornet who will be great value). Glad to see suzuki still produce sv650 and here and there motorcycle company that make good motorcycle for people that just wanna ride for themselves and not for pleasing other people.

Me too...2006-2011 was an incredible time to buy a new bike, but...most people were worried about the economy so sales were down across the board.

You should.. you should get out more. Sorry.

Great review ❤, what about a R1100s boxer cup review?
I've always fancied one of these as a stable mate for my RR. I remember the first time I saw a HP2 Sport it looked stunning then and still does now
Great review! I've been looking forward to this since you said it would be the next bike after your HP4 video back in August. Well worth the wait - thanks.
Yesss finally, this one is special! ❤
I absolutely love mine, can’t see what I’d swap it for! It gives me a warm glow when I open the garage door.
I have exactly the same bike and more then happy to keep it forever. It is like having original Parabellum P-08
I had no idea this bike existed. I've seen a couple more upright bikes with less fairings but nothing like this. Very cool!
Another great video, cheers Chris!
Thank You Bike Specialists for letting Chris ride this beauty. Thank You Chris for the test
Here as always for the content.. but this bike is not quite my cup of tea, but appreciate it for what it is 😁
In the US, Nate Kern seems to have been the showcase racer on the HP2, and later on the R NineT series.
I absolutely love this bike
Tim Thompson had one on a track day I was at in France and it was as quick as the R1 & Blades of the day on the short twisting track
It certainly would be with Tim on it! Lovely bikes. I bought one mostly cos he did 😂
Regularly see a Randy Mamola R1000S at a local bike cafe, and I drool over it every time! Quality big beasts
One of the riders on a European group tour had one of those. I couldn’t stop looking at it from various angles during the ride.

One of my fav bikes ever. Dream bike for sure.
BMW needs to do a new R1300 GS HP2 ;)
Chris this is a really exotic one :)
I love this bike. I’d like to own one someday day. It’s a forever bike.
OMG, I’ve been looking at these all day that’s crazyyyy 😩 I want one
Love these, and love my R1200S which is about 80% of this bike for 20% of the price :)
Great video. But boxer engine is plain stupid. 😢😢😢
Always been a favourite of mine this bike 👌👌

Bloody nice bike looks like it can pop a good wheelie and sounds decent
Always thought these looked great, lovely
Always thought these looked an amazing piece of kit but which would be more fun on the road this or a vtr sp2
I don´t get this bike, but love the content
Lets see Chris on a HP2 Enduro please
Who knew? What an amazing bike. I think you’re right, engineers threw everything at it, one last hoorah! Well played Sir….🎩-Tip & 👊😎
Curious how similar it is to a Moto Guzzi Griso 4V?
Now let Chris loose on an HP2 Megamoto! That’s a properly bonkers, special bike - much more up his street too as a supermoto.
Had a BCR and the HP2 was no my list turn down a 30k HP2 for 8k and think i missed the boat as price is mad now
Awesome motorcycle.
תודה!
That's amazing, thanks!
THIS one is cool
And I thought the old R1100S was rad!
Love it
When we going to see you on a sxv550 floating stinking wheelies give the people what they need!
Super!
I’m the first here 😊
Shorten the gearing and its sorted

I’ve rode one of these. To be honest I wasn’t impressed. Very left field Forsure. The best part was the dash!
Ohhh Yess🧴
❤🤤🤤
The KTM duke 790 is more fun than this one.

Yeah, electronics are such a pain. Who wants to be saved from a major accident 😂
The major service that calls for new connecting rods doesn’t seem to be mentioned 🫠
@@Raphael-zl5jb why would we?
