      Yep. It was the pointing that did it. Pointing at a person is considered the height of rudeness in most Asian countries including Japan. Probably makes matters even worse if you're laughing while you're doing it. However other than that cultural faux pas from the presenter, an excellent video.

      To be fair he's pointing for way longer than comfortable. If the Japanese bowed at foreigners while visiting their countries as they did in Japan we'd get a similar reaction.

      I don't think he was offended by it, just a bit uncomfortable that the farewell greeting was taking so long.
      Most Japanese people are usually fine with pointing and are generally accepting that Westerners do point more.

    The drone display thing could use a power cable as a tether. Spherical display hanging up high that can swing itself around. Few sensors to see what's around it and it could even be an interactive display.

    Some people here miss the point. Japan has sort of abandoned their edge on certain tech (such as consumer electronics and maybe high-speed rail, too) to other countries and moving on to more profound developments, such as aerospace and automation. China has probably not edged them there yet.
    BTW, when it comes to newer tech countries, I'd probably go for Israel.

    A glimpse of digital technology. Lets hope more and more people can get access to it soon. Japan is 5~20 years in the future, maybe more considering 3rd world countries. A good reference anyway.

      Yeah, even the characters in _The Lego Movie_ are a bit put off by it. Spencer Kelly's over-emoting was downright creepy at times, though I suspect it's meant to appeal to people who are high, ala the Peewee Herman Show.

      You realize China has better high speed rail now right and they are the ones that made it possible for large scale manufacturer right?
      In addition to that faster supercomputers as well and leading the world in green technology.
      As for the guy so called "knock offs" look at the phone industry and motherboard industry there.
      As well as gadgets. Amazon too sell many highly rated Chinese products for a great price that lasts.
      You will be surprised how many high quality, high performance products there is in China.

    1-> I know how Japan is different than it seems (though I still find people there much respectful to me than any other nation)
    2-> China's tech is more based on mass sales and stuffs. Of course it is good but innovation and creativity and uniqueness is a thing
