Yep. It was the pointing that did it. Pointing at a person is considered the height of rudeness in most Asian countries including Japan. Probably makes matters even worse if you're laughing while you're doing it. However other than that cultural faux pas from the presenter, an excellent video.
To be fair he's pointing for way longer than comfortable. If the Japanese bowed at foreigners while visiting their countries as they did in Japan we'd get a similar reaction.
I don't think he was offended by it, just a bit uncomfortable that the farewell greeting was taking so long. Most Japanese people are usually fine with pointing and are generally accepting that Westerners do point more.
@@ex0duzz Still hung up on something that happened 80 years ago, huh? Japan got atomic bombs dropped on them for WWII-the only country to suffer that. Time to move on.

WTF are you talking about???? Maybe you don't understand English, or what a geeked out reaction from a science nerd looks like, but the guy was expressing his EXCITEMENT about the goal of this mission hoped to accomplish, smh.
Some people here miss the point. Japan has sort of abandoned their edge on certain tech (such as consumer electronics and maybe high-speed rail, too) to other countries and moving on to more profound developments, such as aerospace and automation. China has probably not edged them there yet. BTW, when it comes to newer tech countries, I'd probably go for Israel.
yeah, Isreal, they transform lots of military tech into consumer tech...Was surprised BBC is so late to report Japan tech, I feels like a video came form 30 years ago or something...BBC obviously have no idea whats going on in this world now.
Urine testing for cancer and it's insidious forms and identifying the bio markers is crucial in combating the progression of this terrible disease. keep going science, keep going!

Let's encourage and show appreciation to those genius Japanese people for creating the incredible things. Let's make a holiday one day a year, calling it Japanese genius people day. That would encourage them even more to create more amazing things
A glimpse of digital technology. Lets hope more and more people can get access to it soon. Japan is 5~20 years in the future, maybe more considering 3rd world countries. A good reference anyway.
Yeah, even the characters in _The Lego Movie_ are a bit put off by it. Spencer Kelly's over-emoting was downright creepy at times, though I suspect it's meant to appeal to people who are high, ala the Peewee Herman Show.

No. There are many challenging troubles to the japonese people to solve: Women are still greatly subservient to man in many aspects of life; alarming suicidal rates among the young; a society getting old too fast, with less and less children; the yakuza; the porn industry.....
Such an excellent race, much respect from China. If just comparing tech we are probably closer to Japan now but to compare arts, China is still third world level ...
