While I do get why someone would want another episode to let this mellow out, I think this ending works for what the show is tryna say of how people sometimes just need to move on from things that scar them. Without getting into spoilers the game also does something similar. I also think the fast pacing of the show is meant to emulate how little of shit night city cares about life as the show didn't even give David or us the audience time to process the deaths.
Yeah. People always want their characters to survive but life doesn't work that way. In fact I was actually getting bothered by how media refuses to let people die for the sake of protecting the fragile ego of their watchers. Life sucks bro and when it does- it sucks fast and hard. No one gives a shit. People better learn lmao.
I think adding one episode before Maine's Arasaka job and one episode before David meets Faraday at Afterlife would make the time flow a little better and let us know the world/characters a bit more. My only complaints were that David joins the group a bit fast and that the timeskip was a bit confusing at first.
i think they should do more season but not with the same cast, like telling storys with no relation to each other that live in the same universe

I knew when I saw that "emo David" thing you were in for it. I actually love David as a protagonist. He is the classic kid over his head with some innate talent that pushes too far too fast, but unlike other protagonists that get saved by some bullshit, he faces the consequences of his actions and is able to get something meaningful out of a city that lives to crush even the smallest dreams.
David was doomed because he was a restless person (as illustrated by his repeated foot stomping) who could not stay on the edge (illustrated both literally and metaphorically a number of times). Moreover, his trauma led him to make decisions that led directly to even more trauma (see the mom he killed). He was never going to make it far because his traits combined with his position, and the fact it is Night City, meant doom whether he sped up or slowed down, and he had already set himself on speeding up.
What I think is great is you can see the various side characters impacts on him, whether it be Maine (who probably was the most destructive influence) or Lucy, who gave him a dream when he had none.
Fantastic series.

David has his immortality through his own drink in Afterlife club/bar. David Martinez it's called, just like Johnny Silverhand he became a night city legend !!!

I give it a 10/10. I agree more episodes would be nice, but Night City is a fast paced and unforgiving prison. In the end I loved how David was able to find his own freedom in a world with no freedom. Even if it lead him to his death, it was the only way he could become a legend and it was the only way to save Lucy.
I'm still empty after almost a week of finishing it but in a way that I appreciate.

There’s more than one kind of hero. A hero who goes through adversities and in the end saves the day and wins. It makes for a good story but there exists another king of hero, the tragic hero. We see less of this hero now, but in plays and old literature it was the more prominent kind. The hero who sacrifices everything and eventually meets tragedy in the end. David is this hero. He accomplished his goal, saved Lucy, and sent her to the moon. But there is that wall that will stand in your way no matter what, tragedy. David is a legend. I fucking loved this show.
Lucy and David has such unconditional love for each other in the wrong city and wrong time.
Honestly maybe 1 ep during the time skip but that's all I would want. Anything after that and it would feel bland. It also fits the cyberpunk world well if that makes any sense. I enjoyed it a lot since I loved the game and honestly might be one of my favorite animes of all time

There are good ending depend in on the perspectives. V got a good ending because of the people V helped and befriended along the way. And the secret ending leaves an untold offer.

But you left all your friends behind, and your love leaves due to not even recognizing you anymore. You have it all, but it's not enough. Nothing will *ever* be enough. Even if the people who you associate with now succeed at curing you, you'll always be a moth chasing after a streetlight. Eventually it'll zap you. Despite the undeniable triumph, Night City won more by molding you in its image. It always does unless you leave, and it makes sure you always have a thousand reasons to stay.

I would argue that Star and Temperance are pretty happy endings, or as close to it as you can get in this genre. V or Johnny leaving Night City behind for good and starting anew, whether it's a lifetime or six months it doesn't really matter. They beat Night City, by quitting it. I hope Lucy eventually does the same, starting over and living on for David's sake. The worst disservice she could do his memory is wasting his sacrifice after all.

@@blazin_hl in hindsight i realized they almost directly copied what they did in the game. I dont know if it was an intentional homage or not but it made sense to me. After getting over the death of my favourite character at least.

after finishing this series, all I can say is that if you enjoyed the plot but wished it had been fleshed out more. Id recommend Gundam iron Blooded Orphans, its also in netflix, 2 seasons of a total of 50 episodes.

@@Cobra_156 still not as good as it should've. It's still missing its one of the most anticipated features which is a branching storyline. And different life paths. Currently after act 1, everyone is a streetkid xD. Also dialog choices don't matter. All missions lead to same endings.

I made up a good ending and want to share it.
I changed it from where they are in the car. Instead of saying "I'm sorry we can't go to the moon together" He would say "Looks like we might not be able to go to the moon together. Sorry". Then it shows their scenes, whatever. Then goes back to David. David thinks he is going to lose and die but Doc comes from the sky on a jet thing with a gun. The villain is confused after seeing David looking at the sky and turn around and get shot through the head and dies. Then David is just there shocked, and Doc is like "You owe me one kid". And Doc starts laughing leaving David still shocked. Then it goes back to Lucy she is going to the moon. She still thinks David is dead. This is a couple days later. She gets off the flight and is looking at the ground and looks up and sees David. She blinks a couple times and then starts crying for joy, runs up to hug him. She says, "I thought I lost you". Then he says, "Looks like you didn't." Then they smile. They kiss. Then it zooms out during their kiss and shows the Earth from the moon. Then the credits play. Boom. Now I fantasize this was the ending, so I don't cry when I think about the ending of the show. 🥲

Adam Smasher in the table top RPG is legit scary as fuck insane Stat bloc with absolute Zero empathy legit his Empathy stat bloc says Yeah... Right instead of a number absolute insane Armor and Structural Integrity and guns that will rock low body people in one shot and can counter fry net runners in the game by the time you faced him in Cyberpunk 2077 you are over leveled and beefed to hell so he seems like a push over someone like V in the tabletop would have been torn apart.

They did my boy Davud so Dirty forcing him to save lucy with the cyberskelly while already teetering on the edge of cyberpsychosis
How did they do him dirty? He literally has the best possible end given his circumstances. David destroyed himself and was on a one way trip to cyberpsychosis which could have resulted (like it did with Maine) with him KILLING Lucy instead of saving her. David was able to cobble together the best possible ending for himself given how doomed he was. He was never going to do anything but crash and burn since he is shown (repeatedly) both metaphorically and literally of being incapable of staying on the edge.
David made poor choices as a result of desperation and his own restlessness (illustrated by his constant moving of his feet). He was always going to have a poor ending because Night City is not forgiving.

I played the original RPG, the video game is fun, but the genre always makes the corporate dystopia more of a caricature than a terrifying menace. Edgerunners was a perfect Cyberpunk story that hammered home how cheap and unforgiving life is in Night City. Even in 2077 the most important thing to buy is medical insurance, always get the platinum package before chroming up for a job you might not return from. RIP Rebecca - Best ride or die girl of 2077

So I watched the anime, and I'll say this, it was cool
I'm sorry that there will be mistakes and possibly incorrect wording in some places, but I wrote this after watching the anime in one breath
1) In fact, the whole cartoon began with an accident, or rather the accident where David's mother died. It all reminded me of what happened in the universe of boys, where all the events began with one accident, where the girl Huey died
2) To be honest, I was just shocked when Rebecca's brother was killed. I didn't expect anyone to be killed at all, and even so early
3) We were shown how a person from an absolutely adequate being turns into a psycho who destroys everything and everything, using the example of the same Main. I'll say this, but during the viewing, I was shaking right at the moment with Main and David, when they were already turning into psychos. 7) David. However, I'm sorry for what happened to him. At the moment of his death, where there was almost nothing left of him, and the realization that he and Lucy would never meet again, I stupidly roared. I really felt bad from this, because I was sorry for what happened to him. It is also very frightening that he has turned from a man consisting of flesh into a machine, and even a cyberpunk, where he can no longer be cured of the second. And he was just a kid with a dream
