I'm so happy I got clean and sober. I was out in Kensington about 10 years ago getting high. Now I live about 20 min away. Driving through that is a constant reminder of what my life could've became if I kept getting high. #gratefulrecoveringaddict

He’s the dude who had to move out of his mother in laws house…
Seems like a nice guy but lost soul.
My heart goes out to these people - as someone who can relate to addiction I wish I could do something to help…
It’s crazy US is sending god knows how many billions to Ukraine, but cannot help w this war at home to help these suffering people. I know solution is not easy but they absolutely could - if they wanted to -create live in/work for - programs for people like this. I know they want help. And obviously NEED it.
But hey let’s give illegal immigrants cell phones, hotel rooms, and debit cards - while our citizens sleep on cold concrete….btw I know you cannot just hand cash over to addicts….but if we took that budget and focused it on crisis at home - we could create programs that actually help and save lives.
Sorry for rant - I just know how hard it is - and I’m so lucky to have gotten my sh together, but I couldn’t have done it without support. That’s what these people need - support….esp that girl in complete denial who “loves” selling her P all day (will be too old soon for that and then what?)….the articulate black guy who seems intelligent and motivated - someone give him a job already. Tia seems smart and capable too. All of these people could be so much more.
We need to come up with a system to get these guys out one by one, clean them up (inside and out) give them hope and purpose, help them live a life worth living. Right now they’re spiritually dead and cannot love themselves. They are not a lost cause. We cannot give up on these people. It’s a terrible sickness and everyone thinks they’re just “fuck ups” when in reality they’re surviving with a deadly disease.
😳😵‍💫🤯And the craziest part is that help them would be a profitable cause! The damage this situation does on society outweighs financially what it would cost to “fix” and “alleviate” the problem. Litterally! Look at the big picture - helping them helps everyone. So why are we keeping them sick? Wtf?
      My heart hurts 💜💜💜💜💜💜
I’m not religious but I’m sending all the best hopes, wishes, and positive energy to each of them. I know it’s hard to love yourself atm but I hope one day the shame and guilt will subside and you realize you’re a worthy human! I hope you survive and get the help you need 🌸🌸💚💚💛💛

He is at minute mark “ 1:04” also his girlfriend “ tally” that isn’t even her real name but that’s another story. If he would have never met her I honestly think he would be getting help. They are in a trauma bond. 😭 a sickly one as well as addiction.

    • @sofie3154
      @sofie3154 2 месяца назад +4

@@jjg1501 maybe you are the one who doesn't know the meaning of the word empathy and are confusing it with sympathy. Empathy is the ability to understand where someone is coming from, how they got to where they are now. Without judging, without agreeing or disagreeing with their choices. I was thanking Mal, not these people who are feeding these people as you state, for sharing his ability to understand and give a voice to someone.
For your information the quote about empathy originates from the great philosopher Plato who has a scale for the forms of knowledge, empathy being the highest. It seems you are not far up that scale. But that doesn't mean you can't strive to get there :)

The drug crisis in the United States is challenging for the country, here in Brazil we also have this challenge, in addition to many others, I imagine how many other functional addicts there are across America, people who work, live in their homes, but are also sick, it's a great challenge for humanity in the future. Mental and physical illnesses will increasingly increase. Great documentary, thank you for fighting for those most in need, hugs here from southern Brazil.

If you watch her carefully, she repeats almost everything she says a 2nd time silently, she is extremely defensive, and there is something else controlling her that is lieing to her and is not about to wake her up. (She) believes she is having fun, but an entity is feeding off her so she's not allowed to think about the seriousness, she's only allowed to believe her pussy is the shit and she's on top. She's isn't free. She isn't actually having fun. An entity controls her.

Here’s my question. If all of these homeless addicts are moved into vacant buildings, who takes care of them? It is apparent that most have mental health issues. So who takes care of the building utilities, maintenance, etc., so they are physically safe and environmentally safe? It’s easy to say give them an empty building. But there are so many issues. I would like to hear opinions on this. I believe that each soul is worthy of a hand up. Not a hand out. This is very important when you talk about housing these people. If the streets are this nasty, imagine what a building would become.

Thanks for letting these people share their stories man. I am an addict myself and was on the streets homeless on many occasions. I've been to prison 3 times and I've finally gotten sober and been clean for 2 years now. But it took people actually caring to hear me out and help, and a lot of hard work on my part to get clean and stay clean. Thank God I'm not in this situation anymore. I feel for every addict.

You can tell the girl in the green coat still has a home with her mother. She hasn’t experienced the streets. She will definitely leave in a body bag if she keeps up the attitude. And depending on what’s with her mother she will get kicked out. Unless her mother is an addict? But still has a home so that seems unlikely. Interesting story. Love to know her mothers thoughts. She also said she started pot etc in disobedience school, so we know shes a problem child, that was sent away.!

Before I quit it, I only took it so I didn't became sick. The sickness is a real terror and scary as F. I hope you will find the strength to make yourself a really free person, who also is in real connect with your emotions. Maybe you're scare of your true emotions/yourself and "hide" behind the drugs, I don't know. But even if you take a smaller amount and "keeps it clean" as a functional addict, you aren't in connection with YOU.
