    I'm in the BSCS V3, just started December 1st 2024. My mentor did mention that the BSCS is their more rigorous degree, that they dropped gen. Ed classes and replaced them with AI and other related courses.
    I'm 5 weeks in and I have 28 CUs already. I spent about a year prior learning to code, so I did have a little bit of experience, but it's not that bad if you're self-sufficient and good at taking tests.
    I wasn't planning on taking the masters degree, however, my mentor wants me to do it straight away (after graduation). Also, and this is important, she mentioned there will also be a MSCS degree, which is a bit more rigorous she stated.
    Hope this is helpful to someone, and if you're planning on going for this degree, understand that the programs are changing and becoming more difficult for students.

    • @alexsheppe
      @alexsheppe  26 дней назад +1

      Did they say when the MSCS was coming out? Also, thank you for your amazing comment! Lot of info.

      @alexsheppe not a problem! She stated it would be this year some time. She didn't have the details because I suppose this is news for 2025 curricula, and I'm not entirely certain about the AI Master program, either.
      My mentor wants me to pursue MSCS, so that's what we discussed briefly about two weeks ago. I might be more interested in the AI Master program, though.
      And quick question: are you the guy that graduated from wgu and ended up going to Georgia Tech? How did the application process go, and how were you admitted?

    Im in the MSCSIA capstone class right now. probably gonna wait until the UMPI CS bachelor's degree that's supposed to come in 2025. really at this point am trying to improve my PhD applications. but also i think this gives me time for the multiple-year-anticipated for ms cs degree 🙏

    • @lPOTCl
      @lPOTCl День назад

      Maybe im wrong cause i dont have a degree. Why would you need some little bs things on your resume when you have or getting a phd? Asking myself if a little 2 year degree is worth it

    • @efemboygg
      @efemboygg День назад

      @lPOTCl some grad programs have either recommended or required degrees for their applications. ex: electrical engineering/physics/or computer science BS is required to apply for TU Delft quantum science, and a BS in computer science is reccomended for DSU cyber operations phd applications (low acceptance rate/competitive)

    Hey man good content. This video is super helpful. I just signed up for the feb 2025 enrollment, already a backend software engineer with 3 yoe. My understanding from this video is that I should postpone my enrollment unitil I've completed all the courses that are transferable and only after I should actually enroll in WGU for the remaining courses? I've yet to speak to an enrollment advisor, is this the kind of path that would be suggested when I speak with them? Or, would they be more likely to steer you away from these outside sources?

    • @alexsheppe
      @alexsheppe  Месяц назад +1

      They’ll likely try to steer you away from doing it, more time at the school = more tuition money for them.
      I’d personally push back your enrollment at least 2 months and try to hammer the spreadsheet out. You don’t have to do all of it but if you could transfer in like half around 60, it’d save you a ton of time and money.

    When I look on WGU BSCS courses I don't see anything about the IT Leadership foundations being a class for the CS degree. Can you verify that it is? It would mean you don't have to do the Business 101: Principles of management. Only the Business of IT - Applications or ITIL certification

    @cloroxbleach2079 3 месяца назад

    Hey Alex great video, thanks for the update. I have a quick question. For the certifications, how does that work exactly. Do you get the certification and that will automatically get you credit at WGU or do you still have to test out for it at WGU.

    • @broadestsmiler
      @broadestsmiler 2 месяца назад

      You can either transfer in certifications that you have prior to being enrolled in WGU by sending them to the Records Department during the matriculation process (this can also be done from the initial enrollment webpage) or by taking them as an objective assessment at WGU. They will generally send you vouchers for the certification exam, which you then take and send the results to the Records Department to get your grade for the course.
      Source: I am currently in WGU's Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program. I transferred some certifications in and took the rest using vouchers from WGU for objective assessments.

      Depends if you really wanna learn the A.I. stuff or not. The old curriculum seems slightly easier and more hackable.

      This is an absolutely impossible question to answer… everyone is different with their time efficiency. Maybe 8-9 hours if you’re not good at being time efficient and tend to go slow.

      Hi Alex! I wasn’t expecting a reply from you-thanks for the surprise! My past academic record isn’t great, but your videos gave me hope. I applied to WGU for Computer Science, and they didn’t reject me! Instead, they offered a pathways program where I can boost my GPA with a partner school course. They actually just called me today. My start date is December 2025, and I’m aiming to complete most of the recommended courses by then. Just need to keep under 75% from partner schools to avoid residency issues. Thanks again for the inspiration.

    I am sorry for asking again.I am so confused in my life right now.
    I can't do anything in the name of mathematics apart from basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division but I can do accounting pretty well.
    I am so afraid of pursuing Bachelor in Computer Science and Engineering due to being extremely extremely poor in maths.
    I will have to work and study in a foreign country.
    Should I go with Computer Science and Engineering if I know no maths and I will have to balance between classes,studying and work for 4 years.
    The university I am going to offers only Computer Science and engineering in English and I can't go to other university due to family reason.
    Please help.
