BSIT isn't in there??
@bkstandard882 BSIT is a great degree and you’ll get IT jobs with it. I just have IT Management there instead because it’s faster/cheaper degree to get and you can still get all the same jobs if you add the certs yourself.
What do you think about Finance?
Your videos have been very helpful for those of us navigating the decision to go back to school, what to focus on and choosing the right school. I appreciate the time you've put into them and feel prepared to make an informed decision going forward.
Great video. I just finished a BSBA ITM degree at WGU and I'm trying to decide on a Masters program now, your video added a new perspective and I appreciate that
Woah......pardon me as a Ghost adventures nerd, but was that an insect or an orb at around 3:44?? FANTASTIC video, thank you! You mentioned nursing and I agree the FNP and others are awesome. If a person is looking for a career change or new career, Respiratory Therapy is a fantastic choice. WGU does not have a degree in this (now they are mostly BA). I have been an RT for over 40 years and the field is great, ESPECIALLY in a smaller hospital if you have experience. They pay a lot more and the work is more satisfying because you can actually be a Therapist based on care rather than volume!! Again, WGU does not have a degree in this, but it is a great consideration, too! RT's with RRT and 10+ years experience can make 140K on the traveling therapist gigs. I also got a bachelor's in Management and am working on my accounting degrees so I have an easier physical degree to do well into my 80's hopefully!
Fantastic writeup!
100% agree. With the NBRC leaning towards making Respiratory a Bachelors program a WGU program may not be far off (2030's?). My experience with RT is that its great for more RIGHT brained people, thus a great option for those not cut out for university like i was.
Currently working on my Masters in Data Analysts at WGU, 3 months in and I'm on my 7th class. Hoping to finish under 6 months. I work for the government we have plenty of Analyst jobs I just need this degree to make the transition.
You can do it my friend!
How is the difficulty of the program?
@@alexsheppe no class has taken me over 2 weeks, but I've been putting in a lot of hours. I really like that every class besides the 1st one is project based instead of an exam. I'm not a fan of exams.
Every class felt pretty easy till the 5th was a bit of a jump. 6 & 7 are easy. 8 looks like an extension of 7. Not sure about the last 3 yet.
I'll provide an update once I graduate.
What’d you major in for bachelors?
Great video Alex. very informative. Thanks for sharing
Thank you I really appreciate your thoughts on the different degrees and what jobs could be potentially available- I was deciding between software engineering and computer science my goal is to finish the computer science degree a fast as I can and then start an accelerated bsn program so , the goal is to be in school for no more than 2.5 year and to obtain both bachelors - right now I’m torn between tech be nursing so why not both ! Then I can decide later lol
why is cyber security so far behind comp sci and software engineering
This helps alot! Just got laid off from my graphic designer job and I'm sick of it (4th layoff in 6 years) I figure now is the time to completely pivot to something else I'm considering Cybersecurity or SWE.
You can use your certifications to skip classes. Not a bad way to save time honestly.
Stuck between Bachelor’s in Business Management or Finance.
I am currently accounting student at SNHU and have been thinking about switching to CS. Wondering why YOU made the switch. Any thoughts on WGU over SNHU for CS? Great video!! Thanks
I’d always choose WGU over SNHU. As far as I’m aware, SNHU doesn’t allow course acceleration? I made the switch because I’ve always been a hobby coder, and I was doing Accounting to start my own business, but you don’t need a degree for that
If you could add sections to your Video timeline that could be even more helpful! Thank you for the great content!
I’m working on getting better at this. Although the downside of this is if enough people only watch a small portion of your video, youtube will stop showing it to people.
@@alexsheppe I Never thought of that before! Good point. 👌
great video. I'm debating what to do after my da degree. mba, ms da or go to Georgia tech for ms da. Also want to do finance and psychology just because, lol.
Yeah Finance and Psychology are certainly fun!
Which bachelor's degree is the easiest to get with no experience at wgu?
MIS vs Network engineering?
Hi I’m currently in cybersecurity, do you think it better to switch to computer science or SE ? I love cybersecurity but I’m afraid of employment opportunities when im done
It’s up to you but it certainly is hard!
I’m thinking of getting a finance degree for a quick degree just to have and get into ultrasound tech and maybe add on more degrees probably accounting for skills
HI AND ONE QUESTION ❓ ALL THE PEOPLE THE GRADUATE FOR WGU THE RECOGNIZED IF YOUR DEGREE IS LEGITIMATE , IN TEXAS OR WHEREVER STATE. AND ALSO THE FOUND JOBS EASILY OR HAVE A HARD TIME TO FIND JOB. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND 😊
Stabiler Bart bre
What do you think of the masters in leadership and management?
Would be better off with an MBA
what would you say the difference is between someone doing finance b.s vs business management?
I’m trying to decide between a data analytics degree or a computer science degree. I’ve taken a couple of statistics classes, and that kind of math makes sense to me. However, I know the computer science requires calculus and is more math heavy. Any advice on whether I should go for a data analytics degree, or a computer science degree if math is not my strong suit?
I’d aim for Computer Science. Calculus is manageable on Sophia or StraighterLine, even if you are not that good at Math. Although I’d take most of my non-math courses on Study.
@@alexsheppe thanks!
Calculus is not very difficult. I have an engineering degree, and my regular math classes were always the easiest. I took a "statistics for engineers" class and found it harder than any of my calc or differential equations classes. If you do decide to go that route and have trouble with calc (if you have a bad teacher, like me), professor Leonard on youtube is an amazing teacher and his videos follow along perfectly with the classes you'll take in college.
Do you think a CS degree with a Masters in analytics is a good partnership? I also have a finance degree but im thinking just tech is that a good pair?
Yes, very good pair.
What do you think about the supply chain degree
I think it’s fine if you really wanna rise the ranks of Supply Chain
So information technology is not worth it? I legit am enrolled in ASU school of fulton engineering for BS in IT and discovered WGU and am thinking about getting their IT BS. Wrong move?
which has more remote jobs? Tech or Finance/Accounting?
Tech is full of remote jobs.
How do you feel about the Supply Chain Management degree?
Too niche imo, but if you already work in the industry, maybe it’ll be useful to move up the ladder.
My school has a bachelor of business administration and it also has it with a human resource concentration.
It also has a bachelor in Human Resources Management, which would be the best in your opinion?
What path would you recommend for Data Science?
Computer Science then Data Analytics
what do you think of a B.S. in Network Engineering and Security?
I have a video coming on that one soon, but I think it’d be better to get a pure I.T. Degree not to limit yourself just to Network jobs.
Hello, would a finance or accounting degree be better with no experience?
Accounting is easier to break into. Finance has more income potential.
How long did it take you to finish your comp sci
About a year, not including 18ish community college credits I had from 10+ years ago.
What path would ypu recommend for the software engineer degree c# or Java?
Java. C is for military, cybersecurity stuff like malware analysis, instruction, etc. Sometimes it’s used in SE but not often.
I have an accounting degree.. should I do the data analytics MS?
I think it would be a good option :)
@@alexsheppe thank you!
Is finance is good degree from wgu
Yes
I go to school to learn because I love learning new things. I don't go to school to make money. 😂❤ Awesome video, btw.
That’s great! But if you’re in America, school is super expensive.. classes are between $1500 to $3000 each depending on the University. I would love to go to school to just learn with no job intentions, but so expensive!
@alexsheppe You're right. In some places, education can be very expensive.
Anyway, in my previous comment, I missed a key word: just. What I meant to say was, "I don't go to school JUST to make money." You see, I am a lifelong learner. So, for me, the making money part is the desired output of investing in one's education.
Hillside College is great for this purpose 😊
I’m starting the accounting program just to get a job faster do you think I can still break into data if I get the masters in data analytics?
Absolutely
@@alexsheppe Thanks for the fast reply, Great content by the way!
is computer science worth it if your starting from scratch & what about layoffs & high competitive market?
Economies go in cycles, I wouldn’t worry about layoffs too much. Plus a lot of the layoffs were a bit exaggerated because of youtube, you have to realize a lot of these Software Engineers are trying to do youtube full time, and a lot of them voluntarily chose to be part of the layoffs to collect unemployment and do youtube.
I have a question and I do apologize if it seems stupid number one what about the human resources project manager?
And can you get your nursing BSN in six months at WGU.
If you’re already an RN you can.
So you have to be a RN to do the BSN degree.
I’m already studying human resources management at WGU but I don’t know if it’s worth it now because the job market it’s terrible where I live
@@morningstarproduction3734 No, but it will take longer than 6 months if you don't already have your RN. There are two options. RN to BSN or Nursing (pre licensure). The second one is what you'd want, but it will take longer than 6 months.
Correct. You can do the RN to BSN in 6 Months pretty easily. Although the Pre Licensure BSN is gonna take around 2 years 4 months. Although, still a year and a half faster than other colleges.
Does cybersecurity require coding skills?
Yes but not as much as SE or ML would.
I’m doing the SWE degree, Java track this summer. Really looking forward to it. I have a bachelors in biology but I’m pivoting to swe.
You got this. Looks like a fun degree.
What is your take on Health Information Technology? Also I’m either going to choose SNHU or WGU but everyone is saying that WGU has proctors and no deadlines if you need structure whereas , SNHU provides structure/deadlines and offer more project/essay no proctors.
can you do which is easiest field to get into with no experience & also which has most remote jobs.
Any of the tech degrees have a ton of remote jobs, especially Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing. None of the tech fields are easy to break into, maybe Data as a Data Analyst.
I was looking at the MHA, not on the list lol. I am a LPN (nurse) with a BS looking to get into admin.
