i am interested to see the unusual work of the railway. in russia, most cargo is moved by electric locomotives, so trains weighing 5-6 thousand tons are usually formed at departure stations. obviously, they are much smaller than yours. this is done so that the load on the power supply phases is uniform. a lot of trains go one after another. thus, maximum efficiency is achieved. in addition, we have a typical freight train speed of 37 miles per hour. on some highways - up to 50 miles per hour. the speed on the video impresses me. the movement of goods at this speed is prohibited in our country. hi!
Hi миша тимофеев, that is really interesting to know. The speed in this section of the line is 60 mph for freight trains and 79 mph for passenger. They also sometimes operate two trains connected together to form one extra long train (up to 3 miles long). They will put locomotives at the front, several in the middle and several on the end of the train, with the total number of rail cars numbering around 230 to 260! They are very impressive to see. Thanks for watching my friend.
Well that's cool, I've never had anyone comment that was on one of the trains I film. What day was it, I have a few from Ripley. Thanks for watching Anthony.
Very cool PNWR. Enjoyed watching the meet. But why did the Z train make a full stop on the main. Was it because that big manifest was creeping up on the siding?
Thanks Lou. The Z had to stop as the manifest hadn't yet cleared the west turnout. Usually they would have had the manifest stop at the siding prior to this one, and wait on the Z but it was a busy morning and that siding was occupied by a westbound oil train. Thanks for watching my friend.

@@PacificNWRailfan yes, the Chicago-St. Louis UP line is a designated high speed corridor, they have done tests up to 110 mph successfully, with the current equipment.
