Fun Fact: I have a much older, much simpler version of a rhombicuboctahedron, but it is terrifyingly fragile-and it’s built from reddish brown plates 😱😂 (FYI, never build with reddish brown plates.)

Does anyone else get really wide-eyed when you see him making this neat little chunk of lego that would realistically take you about five minutes, and then he shoves forty of them into frame?
That's the best part of these videos. "Here's 12 simple steps for this build. Now repeat 80 times."
That's all these builds really boil down to, one connection that allows a little flex, then spammed a few hundred times.
While it's super interesting, I'm wondering if it has any adverse effect on the lego pieces having been stressed that much.
@@tomd96 yes, it does. That's why these techniques are "illegal"; they put undue stress on pieces and can break them
@@ryantafoya487 Yeah I mean *HE BENT THE LEGO*

Have to admire how you took advantage of the pieces not being perfectly fitting. There is intentional wiggle room, obviously, otherwise no LEGO could be built. So you focused on extending this whiggle room to the maximum, creating round bendings

Seeing the stress the structure was holding while you were building it had me hoping for one of those mechanisms that stores kinetic energy until you break it. Like those popsicle stick things, or a Prince Rupert's Drop. Maybe you could build one in the future? That would be really cool
It seems like when you attach the last brick, due to how the bricks are connected, they separate relieving the outwards tension that would have made the part want to pop out. That is amazing!

I came into this thinking that is was just another clickbait title. Man, was I wrong. I definitely didn't expect that. Form and function, plus a side note of complex simplicity. Well done!
This is so aesthetically appealing architecturally speaking. I think it would make a beautiful building with Windows all over it. Initially I thought I would want the building to sit with a square foundation but once you put it on the triangle side down, it actually is more aesthetically appealing in my opinion..
Awesome video keep it up..
By now, this is exactly the kind of build we expect from you! I was actually hoping you would build an official Lego model, just to throw us all for a loop!

I acknowledge your Lego wizardry, sir. 🧙♂️
I expected an illegal Lego build and I was right!
This is really cool, though.
After you made the tic tac toe board, I actually started thinking that it'd form a ball but I was not prepared for the sound of bending Lego bricks.

This build was actually exactly what I was expecting lol, once I saw he was doing a mesh like pattern a few minutes in I was like "hes making a ball". Maybe I've just watched too many of his vids
That is so cool, love it 🙂💯
The moment I saw you make a regular flat square with no bending, I guessed it would end up a sphere. That might be because I've already used my kid's square and triangle magnet tiles to build essentially the same structure. 😅
I got it the moment I saw the lines and connectors. A sphere is pretty much the only continuous object you could possibly make with those particular parts.
When you slid the MASSIVE stack of straight bits onto screen, I said out loud, incredulously "Is he making a SPHERE?!?"
Truly amazing!
that was exactly what i was expecting thank you for filling up my satisfaction
how many blocks do you have
This is brutal
I need this on Ideas, seriously, this is so cool, I want it to become a Lego Ideas set
He can actually make an accurate version of the death star with that globe 🔥🔥🔥
Did you just built a sphere using rectangles and squares??
This is actually a really genius way to map out a globe onto a plane and stretch it back into a globe.
The problem is the distortion of the shapes of the land masses when flattened to a plane. For instance, on a standard mercader projection map, Iceland looks about the game size as Africa when in reality it's a lot smaller.
There isn't a real way around that, unfortunately. A perfect usable map is really an impossibility. Some distortion is required on projections. The Mercator projection is by far the most popular, but other maps are also out there that try to fix this issue, or represent the world in a different stretchy way. Some other projections include the Gall-Peters Projection, which I think is genuinely a worse projection of the world, but it has its own benefits. The two map projections you'd see the most other than the Mercator are the Mollweide Projection and the Goode's Homolosine Equal-Area Projection. I call it the "orange peel projection" personally, just because that's what happens when I peel an orange. That projection is probably one of the better ones. I'm unsure what this projection would be. All the squares stretch in unequal amounts and the corners are... well, they're not square.
Amazing!
this video made me increasingly anxious
This thing is way better than Peter and Ned's Death Star from Homecoming.
You're not wrong with that video title
I was expending another "flat" bendy boi, not a "3D" bendy boi
