This LEGO build isn't square

- This design is a variation on a smaller build ('Hinging Squares') scaled down to make things easier to iterate: • This LEGO build is not...
I think I'm calling this one 'Hinging Squares within Squares within Squares'. No, it does not roll off the tongue, but it's fairly accurate considering how dynamic and complex this build/pattern is. I see this as a geometric art piece that you could hang on your wall, and then change it up whenever you like. Not how a typical piece of art behaves, but that's the magic of it. 😊
Note: Like all of my kinetic LEGO builds, after a few rounds of 'hinging' the plates need to be tightened down--otherwise they start to pop off, which makes it a bit less fun 🤪

This video was an experiment in some ways. I normally try to hide as many individual clicks as I can, while still showing how the build comes together. There wasn't a great way to do that with this build other than skip 'clicks' in the process, so I decided to include every necessary click. Not sure if I'll continue to do that, but if you're looking for a lot of LEGO ASMR, here you go. 😁
First
I did eventually skip a few parts, but that's only because I don't have a lot of time. I think most people will enjoy more ASMR. Keep up the great work!
One day, I bet you'll post a video of you making a QR code out of lego, that will take us to an Easter Egg video...
I like the clicks and creaks, your builds are beautiful.
@@Stephen_The_Waxing_Lyricist Great idea!
At first I was like “oh I recognize this design”, but then he kept building
same lol
He's shown a smaller version of this build in another video I think
@@juancarlossuarez7486 yeah he has
@@juancarlossuarez7486 he showed the smaller version in colour
Heh, isn’t that how many of his builds start out? You recognize the design, but then he keeps on building, blowing your mind by using the design in ways you never thought of? At least that’s how these builds usually start out and end up if you ask me. 😁
In some ways, to me this is just like one of those jokes from Family Guy where you think you know where the joke is going, but then it keeps on going and going until you almoust laugh yourself to death in the process. Peter and the dead frog, Peter hurts his knee and so on. Or perhaps I’m just a weirdo doing a weird association here? I don’t know... 🤷🏼♂️
I would hire this guy to make my sophisticated billion dollar mansion decorations, if I had one.
I would hire this guy to build me a billion dollar mansion out of legos
And salary for this guy would be 10,000$ per decoration
Well I don't have a billion dollar mansion, I only have a 2 billion dollar Lego mansion (hello r/quityourbs, this is obviously a joke.)
@@IMGMYT no more like 1.000.000$ per decoration
@@anawesomepet Yeah, apparently we need to be careful about telling absurd jokes like this because otherwise @Bryce Kleinschmidt will come and yell at us about how Disney is the Ministry of Truth.
I swear, my mouth was open the whole time after you bent the build. You have done it again, Brick Bender, you have blown my mind
Bill Cosby taking notes.
If i build this each piece would be a different color
That's the classic look. All of my early builds were that crazy mix of color.
Same here
That makes it cooler seeing the colors move around

@@BrickBending tell us your back story , how did you start making this amazing builds?
Anyone else enjoying the simple pleasure of just listening to the silence atmosphere and the brick clicks? Really cozy.
I built a lego circle inspired by you, only using 2 by 1 bricks, 2 by 2 bricks ,2x4 bricks and the bending teciches, It took a Lot of them to complete, great Channel!

For quite some time, probably half way through, I was expecting it to be flexible like that. Every piece added seemed to be flexible, so why not right?
Then you spent like 3 minutes adding "support beems", and I just threw that thought out the window.
And theeeen.... *mind blown*
Knowing this guy, it must be flexible at some point
Same.
He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer f-ing will.

My favorite part is when he puts that 1x8 beam in it's place.
That part was ok but I really liked the part where he put that 1x8 into place.
No you're both wrong the best and most unique part is when the 1x8 piece is put in place.
I mean yeah. But once that 1x8 beam was put into place, THAT'S when the whole build came together.
@@zichithefox4781 Sure that was awesome, but it does not compare to that time when he put that 1x8 beam into place. Shit was cash.
you amateurs always get it incorrect, the best part was when he placed the 1x8
This is pretty neat. It's like a piece of wall art you can adjust the shape of, to suit whatever mood your room is going for at the moment
Honestly, i feel like some of this guy’s creations deserve to be official lego sets because these are amazing!
8:11 a beautiful field of Lego stubs. Satisfying. It looks like I dumped out a loose box of bricks from this angle.
LEGO needs to hire you to design bendable sets
I'm so tripped out. It's like if someone took a photo of your build and warped it in photoshop, spooky stuff
The way this deforms is just like how the crystal structure of nitinol deforms

It's almost like transforming an Autobot logo to a Decepticon.
we love the autobots as kids. the older I get the more I would so be a decepticon. Id want a jet/heli triple changer. sort of like Switchblade on MASK.
This is actually a good 2D representation of how hardened Steel works (martensite).
The lattice of austenitic steel (face centered cubic) is forced into distorted twins during rapid cooling. The inner tension wants to get to the body centered cubic structure but can't transform and therefore it is harder.
I used to make that exact pattern as a kid, but I didn't have nearly enough pieces (let alone the same color) to go that far. This was very cathartic.
Your videos are always such a joy. It's like visual asmr or something, lol
It sounds like asmr too because of the clicking noise
@@akk0dha518 I guess that works for some people, didn't realise that was asmr too

There's nothing more satisfying than hearing that click from joining together really intricate prices
woah i did not except it to move like that, all the stuff this guy builds is fascinating
I like that it doesn't make the bricks cry.
It's true. This is a very stress free build.
Soothing, and totally mesmerising.
Everything about your videos is so satisfying
I did not expect that to bend.
I just watched the colorful how to build recently, so I recognized the initial design, I was very proud of myself. And then you kept going xD
The blooper at the end is the best!
The perspective optical illusions were awesome.
This is really cool! I was expecting some sort of Lego bending build like usual. This was very unique!

I wonder how he comes up with these things. Does he test these patterns digitally, how does he know what patterns to use to get the movement he wants aaaaa
Theres reference material out there for transferring specific movements to others through levers on a 2d plane. Historically quite useful

The end result is so trippy.
So sad you rarely find any Lego building videos without anoying scratching, rattling, wispering, bag opening... I love your channel because of this. Even some "falling over" crashes at the end are sometimes very unsatisfying 🙈
It really is amazing 👏🏻 😍 this channel is the best thing in RUclips lately
Many thanks!
Astonishing is an understatement for what I just witnessed
Lego needs to give this guy the big amount of money
Cool design but I feel that some of the footage could have been sped up a bit, especially when laying down the individual pieces after the foundation was complete.
Fair. I debated that, but decided to go for a longer video as an experiment. Speeding it up would definitely make it easier to produce.
Now THIS man is a master builder
Oh, Wow! I was NOT expecting that!
Every moment was at peak satisfaction 🤩
I'm a simple bird. I see patterns of stick-like thingies, I am entranced.

When he started to bend it was so odd, it almost felt like an error in the matrix.
