This is genuinely an excellent way to demonstrate maths, especially integration. A perfect circle can be made up on a infinite amount of rectangular segments and this demonstrates it beautifully.
@@philipplins2012 Technically this is made up of thousands of trapezoids, not rectangles? That's what I was thinking anyway. Proud of you for holding back. lol
@@titusdaniel More like you can’t actually make a *perfect* circle out of rectangles, just an increasingly accurate approximation. It’s like rectangular integration.
Wow, the tension in this one is _weird._ The way it snapped back when you released it suggested the tension is huge, but the full circle sags under its own weight, which suggests it isn't.
I think it would be funny to just spend 5 straight minutes building something that gets more and more elaborate, building it up like it's going to be something amazing, only to put it all together and have it just be a solid, inflexible, rectangular block that does absolutely nothing. April fool's, maybe?

This comment is a year old, but I'm gonna respond anyway: It's not actually the lighting, but rather involves the frame-rate of the video, and is called the Wagon Wheel Effect. You can look it up for more information, but basically the ratio between how frequently still images are captured in the video and how fast a wheel spins determines whether the wheel appears to be rotating forward, backward, or even staying still when viewed back.

Just so y’all know, the bricks aren’t flexing as much as you think, the way he built them has it so the bricks rotate on their connection joint. Because the bricks are small, it creates the illusion of them bending when in reality they aren’t.
seeing you build this reminded me that me and one of my friends, we used to play legos a lot, we always called when you put two 2x1 pieces together, connected by the ends, a yoshi, no matter if its green or whatever other color

If you add a few more sections it should give enough slack to be able to rotate about the toroidal axis. With a change to brick orientation you could also even make a Mobius-like structure, where a single loop around the torus results in a 90-degree turn.

The fact that it sags a bit when it’s a wheel means that he can actually make it with fewer parts and tighter. That’s a scary thought
