Great tutorial, as usual. When my son was very young (he is 50 yrs old now) I made a plaid afghan to match his room which was red, white and blue. I am going to make this one for one of my grandsons. Thank you Mikey, you are great.
Fab pattern! Kudos to the designer. The fringe idea sounds great. Would negate the need to weave in all those ends 😀 I'm looking forward to watching all the cool Canada 150 videos!
I'm so glad you've done this tutorial, I really want to try this and it looked a bit daunting, until I watched you fly through it. Very impressive and thankyou for showing us, very much appreciated 😁
Love it!!! That's a lot of tails to weave but I think for the beautiful result it will be well worth it. Thanks for the tutorial, I love how this looks knitted when it's finished!
Mind blown...wait, what? this looks so nice and I don't know about everyone else but it kinda looks like piano keys if you look at it with a music mind. =)
Wow! What an awesomely easy pattern! I didn't have the patience to watch the video, besides I prefer written patterns. So I went to Yarnspirations and looked up the pattern. :) Thank you for sharing it on here.
Great... Most people are using the videos as a preview of the pattern and then doing exactly what you said! It serves the purpose for neat pattern info but also to help people if they need it. :D

I’m having such a hard time determining whether I’m splitting the legs right or not. I watched the other video explaining, but it was really hard for me to see. Anyone have any helpful advice or tips? Is it normal for it to be a bit tricky to go through the proper spot?
Karen Dickerson you can do any 2 colors. It just would look better if they were contrasting colors. Meaning one was a light color and the other was a dark color
I love it. never thought it would be so easy. Thank you so much. p.s. can you do a talking funny video. I love to see you and boyfriend.. just doing silly videos. I be cracking up. u haven't done in a while. love you
Great question. I’ll have to draw a crochet diagram when I have more time and figure that out. I cannot tell by looking at the instructions without drawing it out on graph paper. I don’t have an immediate answer for you.
I just finished...expect for 9 rows of black overlay. Have to order another ball. My gauge was right on, so I'm not sure why I ran out. This was my first time doing this stitch so this project took longer than I expected. If I were to do it again I would use a different yarn and make it smaller ....the blanket is very heavy. Oh well, my husband loves it, so that's a good thing.
Is not the first set of shdc (onto the starting chain of 105) the first row? It looks to me like this demo starts with 7 rows of orange , not 6. Anybody else seeing it that way?
I put the multiple counts in the write up. It will work for other yarns. Just substitute. Make sure you go up 2 sizes than recommended for this though. The stitch work is tight if you use the recommended hook sizes on the ball band.
Yes, you can! Well almost - it's an unbroken line, which is better looking! You need to keep the yarn at the back of the project. slip stitch picking up the yarn poking through the next gap from the front, yarn over at the back - through the gap to the front and finish the stitch. Repeat. It gives an unbroken line at the back. For a visual check this video: ruclips.net/video/BlxEmTxU3Sc/видео.html
You can substitute with other types of yarns that you prefer. Just match the hook to the yarn and substitution is easy. Yarnspirations gives options for all budgets. Sometimes it's above our reach and other times it's easy peasy to afford. They like to give options.
If you're in the USA Joanns always has this yarn on sale and also they have 20%off coupons on total purchases (including sales) I ordered 16 of the 10.5oz it was only $100

To change the size of this blanket, the stitch multiple is 12 chs + 9.
Confirmed.

Thanks Mike! I made one like your sample and made a buffalo plaid scarf!!

Oh my lord. I love this. I have a 2 month old and I’m already starting on my Christmas gifts. It’s May 😂
Kinda funny. People start early and then end up being late. Starting too many WIP.
I love this! how many stitches would you chain at the beginning to make a baby blanket? Sorry, I am new to this.
I can't wait to finish the CC so I can do this myself. I've been looking for a unique pattern to make a scarf for Special Olympics Scarf project.
I love the Buffalo Plaid blanket. I made mine pink and white. AWESOME! I did have a hard time keeping the change color side even. It was all wonky.
Thanks for the great tutorial...you now have a new faithful follower!!!👍🤓
Cool design. Love it!!!

can you use red heart yarn
Instead of weaving in the ends, could you leave them and add more strands to create a fringe at both ends of the blanket?
I thought the same thing!
That is what I did when I made my plaid afghan many years ago
Buffalo blanket enclosed a yarn installations yon installations
love the pattern.
your color choices remind me of Winnie the pooh.
Love this tutorial. Can you do red and orange with black overlay and it look ok?
Karen Dickerson you can do any 2 colors. It just would look better if they were contrasting colors. Meaning one was a light color and the other was a dark color
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
On the overlay....would you suggest a larger hook than the blanket was made with?
I love it. never thought it would be so easy. Thank you so much. p.s. can you do a talking funny video. I love to see you and boyfriend.. just doing silly videos. I be cracking up. u haven't done in a while. love you
wow nice thanks!!
How would I go about trying to make this bigger?
Omg !! Mine blown !!!!!!
Amazing !!!!!!!!
want to make a larger afgan, what would the chain increments be? TIA
I believe it's 2+1.
could u use the long ends as fringe?
Thank you! How cool is that? :) :)
Theoretically this would work with any yarn??
krásne
Zdenka Švondrková cardigan
Question for you, Mike- if I want to make this blanket bigger what multiple should I chain by?
Great question. I’ll have to draw a crochet diagram when I have more time and figure that out. I cannot tell by looking at the instructions without drawing it out on graph paper. I don’t have an immediate answer for you.
@@TheCrochetCrowd oh thank you so much! That would be wonderful!!!! 🙏🏻
I did the work, it's in Multiples of 12 chs + 9. Enjoy the day.
@@TheCrochetCrowd you are the BEST!!!! Thank you!!!

Darnit... I wish I had an answer.
Saved but is there any place to get a written copy on the instructions. Great video..
Yes... in the video description is a link. Follow it to get the free pattern.
Found it and can't wait to make it.
Could you make this with a worsted weight yarn? If so, what hook size would you recommend?
Sorry, I just saw you'd already responded to another subscriber 🤗
Is not the first set of shdc (onto the starting chain of 105) the first row? It looks to me like this demo starts with 7 rows of orange , not 6. Anybody else seeing it that way?
If you want to make it longer then this how many more loops do you need to start with at the beginning?
I'll check into that. I think I might have written it in my article but I will check.
Good Morning Mike im a beginner my name is Theresa im a try this blanket. I love it
Awesome! Now, can this pattern work with other makes of yarn and hook sizes, or does it have to be Barnet Blanket and N sized hook?
I put the multiple counts in the write up. It will work for other yarns. Just substitute. Make sure you go up 2 sizes than recommended for this though. The stitch work is tight if you use the recommended hook sizes on the ball band.
The Crochet Crowd ok, thank you. 😊
Has anyone used this pattern to make a pillow? If so, could you share your pattern?
You said it was a one sided project because the underside has only little lines. Could you not do the same underlay on the backside?
Yes, you can! Well almost - it's an unbroken line, which is better looking!
You need to keep the yarn at the back of the project. slip stitch picking up the yarn poking through the next gap from the front, yarn over at the back - through the gap to the front and finish the stitch. Repeat.
It gives an unbroken line at the back.

🙂🙂
What if I want to make a king sized blanket
It looks like multiples of 8 would work well for it. So chain in multiples of 8 until your blanket is the size of a king afghan
Is it possible to use more than two colors?
Yep... Go for it.
The Crochet Crowd Thanks for the quick response. You are the best!
I don't know about anyone else but I don't like the new sound to stop the segment thing.
This blanket will cost over $90.00 to make!
You can substitute with other types of yarns that you prefer. Just match the hook to the yarn and substitution is easy. Yarnspirations gives options for all budgets. Sometimes it's above our reach and other times it's easy peasy to afford. They like to give options.

Great pattern, lovely clear tutorial, however, it's NOT 'eck-cetera', it is et-cet-era'...etcetera.
