  • Whoa, I would have never expected this blanket, the Crochet Buffalo Plaid Blanket, to be crocheted this way!
    It's an optical illusion on how it's made. In fact, when I was showing it at a live show, I really couldn't figure it out. I actually thought it could have been knitted. The tutorial takes away the mystery and uses the Split Half Double Crochet stitch to form the stitches. It's that particular stitch that fools you to think it's knitted.
    I really think people are going to adore this blanket. They will enjoy the simplicity but don't tell non-crocheters is that simple, if you know what I mean!

    Great tutorial, as usual. When my son was very young (he is 50 yrs old now) I made a plaid afghan to match his room which was red, white and blue. I am going to make this one for one of my grandsons. Thank you Mikey, you are great.

    To change the size of this blanket, the stitch multiple is 12 chs + 9.

    I’m having such a hard time determining whether I’m splitting the legs right or not. I watched the other video explaining, but it was really hard for me to see. Anyone have any helpful advice or tips? Is it normal for it to be a bit tricky to go through the proper spot?

      Karen Dickerson you can do any 2 colors. It just would look better if they were contrasting colors. Meaning one was a light color and the other was a dark color

    Awesome! Now, can this pattern work with other makes of yarn and hook sizes, or does it have to be Barnet Blanket and N sized hook?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  7 лет назад +5

      I put the multiple counts in the write up. It will work for other yarns. Just substitute. Make sure you go up 2 sizes than recommended for this though. The stitch work is tight if you use the recommended hook sizes on the ball band.

    I just finished...expect for 9 rows of black overlay. Have to order another ball. My gauge was right on, so I'm not sure why I ran out. This was my first time doing this stitch so this project took longer than I expected. If I were to do it again I would use a different yarn and make it smaller ....the blanket is very heavy. Oh well, my husband loves it, so that's a good thing.

    You said it was a one sided project because the underside has only little lines. Could you not do the same underlay on the backside?

    • @7slaper
      @7slaper 5 лет назад

      Yes, you can! Well almost - it's an unbroken line, which is better looking!
      You need to keep the yarn at the back of the project. slip stitch picking up the yarn poking through the next gap from the front, yarn over at the back - through the gap to the front and finish the stitch. Repeat.
      It gives an unbroken line at the back.

      You can substitute with other types of yarns that you prefer. Just match the hook to the yarn and substitution is easy. Yarnspirations gives options for all budgets. Sometimes it's above our reach and other times it's easy peasy to afford. They like to give options.
