His name is Dakota Beavers. The character of Taabe was also an homage to, and reincarnation of, the original Predator character of Billy, who was the scout and tracker of the group as well as being intended to represent a Lakota. The hints to this are: -Taabe gets a cut across his chest by the trappers, and in the original Predator, Billy cuts himself across the chest in the exact same direction, upper left to lower right. -Both have a wry sense of humor that can get drawn out if pushed in the right direction -Both have heroic last stands against a predator, giving others enough time to escape from its hunt. One of the directors mentioned it during an interview, that Taabe fights so well, has his sense of humor, and sacrifices himself because he is reliving his past life as Billy. I thought that was a really nice, subtle touch, and when I rewatched the movie after learning that, it became "oh, wow, that was obvious the whole time but so subtle to be hidden"
@@vagabond142 This is what happens when you have a director who truly loves the subject matter. Like Fede Alvarez loves Evil Dead- made a great Evil Dead reboot. The guy who directed the Max Payne movie. He didn't understand it and doesnt "get" video games. It was trash. Shocking..

Not onky are they at the center of the story but the portrayal of the characters and culture feels authentic, realistic and devoid of the lens of white judgement most American movues have had for decades.
They premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the audience loved it! They gave it a 10 minute standing ovation! My dad and I watched this a few weeks ago on HULU and we loved it! I gave this 8/10.
One thing I really liked about this movie were the weapons the predator was using. It seems like they do research and adjust their technology to match the prey. Arrows (admittedly not from a bow) spears, and blades ... and taking on the bear hand to .... ummm ... paw? Kind of adds to the lore. Very cool.

I loved this movie and that is coming from someone who wouldn't consider himself a fan of the Predator franchise. There was so much good stuff in this. The action was amazing, there was some good humor (the trappers reloading) and the gore discretion shots that still manage to convey the brutality of some of the kills. The characters are great and Naru is easy to root for because I think there's a bit of her in all of us, wanting to prove ourselves when someone says we can't. Awesome movie and great reaction, thank you for posting this.
I totally LOVED this movie. It did everything right, including pissing off a certain segment of the internet who make their money complaining about “woke” movies. The BTS material is terrific, too. The production employed a lot of native people from the Comanche nation to work on the cultural elements of the film, got the blessing of the tribes on whose land they shot the movie, even adopted a cute rescue dog to co-star (best supporting actor IMO). I’ve watched this four times already - twice in English, and twice in Comanche (the Comanche version is dubbed, but the entire cast recorded their own roles in Comanche for it… no “stunt voices”). I’m waiting for all the fan art showing Naru alongside Ripley, Sara Conner, and Furiosa. An icon was just born.
@@BoboftheOldeWays Yeah, no ... There most definitely are 'woke' movies. Sadly fucking up the playing field for pretty damn good ones like this one. You can't deny that there are plenty of movies and TV series out there lately that do things specifically to be 'woke'. No matter how much it destroys the story or franchise.
@@xConundrumx I very well can deny it, because it’s not true. “Woke” is a silly talking point cooked up by click bait channels to generate ad revenue off of fake outrage. Hollywood makes diverse movies for $$$$. That’s it. No other reason. No other agenda. After The Fast & Furious franchise blew up internationally, Hollywood looked more towards a global market. They commissioned studies, and found out that movies with more than 50 percent non-white casts were just as profitable globally as ones with majority white casts. Same with movies with 50 percent women vs mostly men. If the numbers pointed the other way, the studios would drop diverse casting instantly. The channels who complain about “woke” are misdiagnosing the situation and doubling down on their bigotry. That’s it.
As part of the Chippewa and Blackfoot Nation I always love seeing Native American representation, This was such an Incredible movie, loved watching your reaction to this one, very nice job..
You saw in the beginning her pretending to take a nap when Taabe was talking about his hunt, but because of her fake snoring she didn't hear that the wet and the mud ruined his bowstring. It was a nice detail with the bear. And a nice diversion with the mud to make the fans think they were going to use the mud to hide her too
Some idiot at Hulu or Fox made a big mistake of not releasing this in the movie theater! Amber MidThunder rocked she was awesome! Also the cinematography and music of this movie was beautiful especially the wide open landscape scenes.
I’m really glad you finally got to see “Prey” and loved it. I knew you would. This is my favorite movie I’ve seen this year. I think it even beats out “The Batman.” The Comanche were in Wyoming in the 1600s, but their many bands migrated South and lived in the Southern Great Plains by the 1800. Their territory expanded to include large parts of Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas. But they were nomadic, hunting the Bison, so their range was much further and were often a threat to surrounding tribes like the Apaches. They also fought the Spanish, and later Independent Mexico, the Texas Republic, and US settlers pushing west. The Comanche horseman actually pushed back US expansion into the Southern Plains for a time, but excessive killing of Bison by white hunters and US agents, and especially diseases like smallpox introduced by settlers decimated Comanche populations and they ended up in reservations. The Comanche Nation is currently based in Oklahoma. Anyway, rock on and stay awesome!
Great reaction. The snake definitely wasn't alive the muscles just spasmed. There was a few clues that the predator didn't kill the buffalo. There was a cigar picked up, no skulls was taken, and predators don't kill anything that they don't feel like it's a threat or worthy prey. It's awesome that you figured out about the medicine cooling the blood thing before they used it to hide from the predator. Loved this movie.
Not entirely true - they're carnivores, so they'll kill to feed, too. The one in Predator 2 (linked to this movie!) had its hiding spot in the slaughterhouse region of LA, and ate from the carcasses in storage there.
Dakota Beavers and Amber Midthunder we're so good in this movie. The tropes they were playing on for the story are so common and familiar, but those two brought so much to their roles and portrayed it so well that it still felt fresh and unique. I really want to see them both in more stuff. They need to be household names.
This is just an observation from watching numerous reactions to this movie. Has no one seen ‘Dances with Wolves’? The scene where the tribe is tracking the buffalo? They come across numerous carcasses, all skinned, killed by white men for not much else. The meat left to rot. Point being, it seems EVERYONE thinks that the Predator killed the buffalo even when it doesn’t make a lick of sense. Buffalo aren’t predators so the Predator wouldn’t think them a challenge. Plus, the trap that caught the dogs tail is foreshadowing the white trappers since the Comanche didn’t have metalworking.
"Nothing better happen to the dog" is a constant in the reactions to this movie. Northern Great Plains 'could' be from Northern Nebraska to Southern Canada from what I looked up.
I know right. It's a constant in any reaction with an animal. 'Nothing better happen to the animal' with people dying left and right. Priorities, am I right?
Sarah Schachner's score to this movie is amazing, loved it! Also really enjoy how the Predator have some sort of code. He could have taken down that bear no problem with ranged weapons, but just decided to go hand to hand with it. :) Awesome! For the predator fans who watched the previous movies more recently; the two callbacks ot the previous movies were a sweet touch! =)
Awesome reaction Angela!! I knew this would be right up your alley! I absolutely loved this movie!! Everything was well done! Story, visuals, music score!! Chefs kiss!! Really enjoyed your reaction!
In the end of the credits depicting the story in Comanche artstyle, it ends with Naaru and the village looking up to the sky as three Predator ships emerge from the clouds. Whenever a predator is killed by the native sentient species, the clan will come to retrieve the body, so that their tech and weapons don't fall into the wrong hands. However, there are two possible scenarios of what happens after they get the body: 1: either they wipe out the village to maintain their existence a secret. Or 2: they feel that Naaru has earned the clan's respect as a worthy hunter, and she hands them the pistol as a token. The pistol is later handed to Detective Harrigan in Predator 2 in the 1990s
People kept wondering how someone with primitive weapons could take out a Predator. But they're forgetting that Arnie didn't use any modern weapons, he had to cover himself in mud and use ingenuity.
As a former Army attack helicopter pilot with combat experience and a former government counter-terrorist…I like that Naru observes, learns and adapts, unlike the men…you can’t beat a Predator with strength ( Arnold couldn’t), you have to outsmart it…the dog was my biggest stressor in this movie! The fact that you referenced Never Ending Story…I love you! 🤣
Facts about Prey 1. The Predator is played by a former basketball player turned stuntman 2. The flintlock is from Predator 2 with Danny Glover 3. Some characters have some quotes from the 1st Predator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger 4. This Predator is primitive and less advanced technology and starts to learn new ways how to fight and kill new ways 5. When the Predator rises from the mud, you can hear a bit of the jungle music or the drums from the 1st movie
Nice reaction! I don't quite think this movie is the stunning revelation that a lot of people are saying it is. But it's a good, solid, entertaining, well-made movie. Definitely one of the better Predator movies. I do absolutely love the choice of time period, setting, and main character in this movie. Native Americans deserve way more positive representations in media, which fortunately seems to be on the rise lately. If you've never seen it, there's a great and funny show on FX called "Reservation Dogs" about native american kids living on a reservation in Oklahoma that's currently on its second season. It's extremely funny and poignant. One of my favorite shows right now. I really like the visual redesign of the Predator. The bone mask, in particular, is very cool. It's perfectly in-line with the lore of the Predator, since they're all about trophies. Something I've always found funny about the Predator(s) though, is that they're basically the space equivalent of a rich douche-bro who pays a shitload of money so he can go to Africa and shoot a lion. Like that makes him some kind of badass. I mean, the Predator basically cheats, right? He's got all this super-advanced technology. He can turn invisible and re-grow severed limbs and has crazy homing lasers and shit. Does he think that's a fair fight against a bear??? Or a snake? If the Predator really wanted a true challenge and a fair fight, he'd beam down naked and unarmed and just have to use things in his environment to get the upper hand! Kinda like the original Star Trek episode where Kirk fights the Gorn. LOL Sorry, bit of a ramble there. Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to your next Expanse reaction! (That's what led me to your channel) Have a nice day. :) Oh, P.S. -- I had the exact same reaction you did as soon as the adorable doggo appeared. I said, out loud, to no one in particular, "Nothing better happen to that dog". So that was funny for me when you said the same, exact thing. XD
Personally, I think it was about on par with the original Predator movie, but it is definitely a huge improvement over the more recent Predator movies.
A nice detail in this movie was, many Plains Indian cultures have a *strong* taboo against whistling at night. It’s believed that it lets malicious entities know where you are. Makes it pretty fitting that Naru lures in the predator by breaking this taboo. The actress, Amber Midthunder (herself Lakota, Dakota, and Sahiyaiyeskabi Assinoboine), actually refused to do it on-set. She mimed the act while a stagehand did it.
In the "how did she even know to go there, during the bear scene... it is a beaver dam, beavers hide the same way she did from predators... she knew it was a dam and there was a way in. Beavers are great engineers, for an animal, but somewhat predictable to a human. :) During the "French fight" she says: "Oh it wasn't that guy, dammit." Me: just wait for it. 😈 And my fave line... I am smarter than a Beaver.
If nothing else this film made me appreciate the acting abilities of Amber Midthunder more. Even tho I loved her in Legion. Which I recommend you watch.
Love this movie! Love this reaction! Love the Dog! I hadn't seen this one until last week and it prompted me to run through all Predator and Alien movies in chronological order (ignoring any timeline or storyline discrepancies!) and enjoying them all.
" I would say word to the wise, is like dont scream every time youre going to attack" THIS one of my biggest pet peeves for the tropes. Infuriating when a character is off screen about to save another character by shooting the villain and right before yells "HEY!". New scream is guilty of this so many times.
@@funnylilgalreacts Indeed 😊 Had to wait before watching your full review (was at work). Some trivia, as I geeked out about this movie 😁 - was filmed by Calgary Alberta, Canada (my home country) - the actor that played her brother; this is his first role - the lead producer is from the Comanche Nation - hearing the Comanche dub of the movie (English subtitles) was awesome - apparently the doggo was a chore to work with as she was a rescue find. So glad you enjoyed it!
Just because one can foresee (or guess) some things in a movie, does not make it a lesser one. I like this one too, and a strong female lead is always satisfying.
Also, 'tomohawk' is fine for lay folks. You can also use hatchet. The difference is very broadly, an ability to be thrown. Axes aren't generally built for throwing.
Loved this movie and you're reaction was great as ever. Amber Midthunder's also badass in Legion (also on hulu). I love watching you put all the plot elements together and see where the story's going. Thanks for all the awesome content.
Something no one notices but Naru isn't dressed in typical female attire long skirt and long sleeve top but she wears a short sleeve tunic top and leggings as well as sporting a archers forearm bracelet on her left arm.
Yes, the Predator cloaking is unfair that is why Taabe called it a cheater because he was winning against it and that is also what Naru lured it to the mud so that even if it cloaked, she could still see it. and yes, that leader of the French trappers if you spoke French had other plans for her but since they wanted to capture the predator and she spoke to the other guy they used her as bait instead.
Naru, (Amber Midthunder) she is female version of John Wick in Comanche Tribal Lands in 1719. Prior to releasing on Hulu, producer, Jhane Meyers (Comanche Native) had viewing event at one of Comanche's towns for the members. Meyers and her language experts subtitled lines in Comanche.
First time watching you, but this was a great reaction video! Definitely going to check out more of your content. Also, love the Black Widow and Obi-Wan pictures in the background!
The French burned the area, so the ash would reveal the predator. From their actions, they had met, before. Also, no spoiler intended, the gun she brought back, was the same one, given to Danny Glover, at the end of "Predator 2".
3:37 You are correct in the terminology. The word tomahawk comes from the Powhatan (Indigenous American tribe) word "tamahaac," meaning "to cut by tool," and the word we have for it today is hatchet.
worked on this movie. all through filming i thought it was going to be terrible so the final cut was a pleasant surprise. lots of drone shots used on location.
@@funnylilgalreacts i was most curious to see the drone shots as i couldn't see the drone feed on set. only three scenes had parts shot in studio. so almost all of it was shot on location.
I really liked how you kinda knew what could be a tomahawk. I respect what you could learn next. Intuition works well here. It's always the little things to become a great hunter. Good job 👏👍
The only other thing I've seen Amber in is the show Legion on FX, where she also plays a fighty action girl. I like how this movie fake teases the mud for people who've seen the first Predator movie, but ends up finding a different way to use it in the end.
the snake moving after dead is actually accurate, not after that long dead though, a lot of people get bit after decapitating venomous snakes and then trying to grab the head as a souvenir or getting too close to it
Late comment and this likely has already been answered but… The reason for the scorched terrain in that scene is because the French burnt the woods to remove the use of concealment from their opponent. They thought the Predator was using their type of camouflage to conceal itself… They were wrong.
Amber Midthunder was good in Legion too. Which was a Marvel, X-Men spinoff show (that really didn't actually much X-Men stuff, other than perhaps the comics). But it was a great show, as long as you like extremely weird, out there stuff lol. Aubrey Plaza was in it too, if that tells you anything 😂
I loved this film as well. I always enjoy your reactions, you have a great sense of humor and your film passion comes through. BTW I think you said your were Canadian (as am I) in a previous reaction , Prey was filmed around Calgary, Alberta.
The "predator" race are called "Yautja". The planet they are from is Yautja Prime. A snake, as with most cold blooded reptillian animals, can 'move' when the nerves are stimulated (by the heat of the torch in this movie).
The dog was rather special, it's a Carolina Dog, one of the oldest breeds that still exists and one of the few breeds that actually is period for North America - also, I believe this was it's first acting role.
Its a really good movie and its good to see the Predator franchise get back on track as pretty much all the movies after Predator 2 where really bad and got worse each time, Hope in Prey 2 the follow on from story as in the end credits we do see more ships landing but also I have read that they are looking to do movies set in other time periods also. As for the burned forest I think this was from earlier in the movie, when she was fighting the Lion she gets distracted by orange lights and sounds of in the distance, and as we see later the french had already encountered the Predator and then we later see the Pred use his bomb bracelet that sounds and looks exactly what we seen earlier in the distance when she was fighting the lion, so i suspect the burned area we see is from this previous battle between the pred and the french
Really did enjoy this film, adored the Easter egg to Predator 2 which I'll not reveal in case you ever watch Predator 2. I personally prefer both Predator 1 and the underrated Predator 2 but Prey is still amazing. Only problem I have with the film is relating to a certain story they changed within the lore. Look up The Predator: 1718 comic and you're see that same flintlock pistol. Prefer the comic version surrounding the pistol but hey maybe it changed hands in that time. Movies in the series I recommend watching: Predator (Already Seen) Predator 2 Alien vs Predator (Not Canon) - Recommend watching regardless as it's just a fun movie. Predators Also Dark Horse comics has a bunch of really cool Predator comic books with a series where Batman goes up against a Predator in Gotham which I would love to see in live action.
Actually Alien VS Predator is canon to the Predator franchise just not the Alien franchise. Predator 2 has the Alien Easter Egg and The Predator has the spear from the first AVP movie.
I absolutely love this movie, but I'm utterly confused about your comment about people complaining about it being " woke" ? In no way did I or anyone I know ever thought it was woke? I will say there entirely to much of that going on in Hollywood but this isn't it.
@@MKF30 actually it is connected to the Predator films mainly because of the two spears from the first AVP movie that show up in The Predator. But they're definitely not connected to the Alien franchise because of the timeline of when the Xenomorph was first created.
@@bobbydontdothat2843 It’s actually not canon to the predator timeline it’s it’s own timeline because the fact that in avp they have far more advanced weapons and those predators were like the ones in predator one and two. They weren’t primitive savage ones like this, it’s a different timeline entirely not connected to the predator or alien movies.
The area of the forest that was burned down was more than likely the French trying to get to the predator , maybe A few nights before or it's just a random forest fire... Also the dog is a rescue and pretty much untrained and it's a girl dog..They had some trouble on set with the dog listening Which is understandable because it's not a trained dog
You faked me out with the “girl dog” and not listening… that was close. I forgot about the attack/explosion when she was in the tree with the lion which now the fire makes total sense
Comanche Territories: northwestern Texas and the surrounding areas of New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, southwestern Kansas, western Oklahoma, and northern Chihuahua.
I'm with everyone else wondering why Disney didn't put this in the theaters! I'm happy to be able to watch it on Disney Plus online, but I would have been happy watching this in theaters. This was amazing, and in my opinion the best Predator movie by far. This cast was amazing. IIRC, this was the first movie for the actor who played Taabe. He did such a great job for a newcomer. I'd love to see a sequel to this--the art in the credit implies more came. Naru's taking the Predator down likely put Earth on their map which explains why they keep coming back. They're gamesmen and humans are competent game. The sequel I want to see, however, isn't necessarily a direct sequel to this, though I wouldn't be opposed to that, but one in which takes place during the same time period but somewhere else, a different continent. 1719 Japan and Africa would be interesting, feudal Japan the slave trade in Africa. I think it would be interesting to see Japan's warrior class fight a Predator as well as an African evading slave traders and a Predator. I just want to see something different and very unexpected. Prey proved that it works! We don't always need big budgets and big names. @funnylilgalreacts, the gun Naru has is the same gun shown at the end of Predator 2! Naru or someone from her tribe likely met their end by the one seen in that movie.
This is one of my favourite movies so far this year. Stunning settings, great action, and a compelling main character that you want to root for. I also liked the symbolism around predators and prey with the hunter becoming the hunted, and the various ethical questions it raises without beating you over the head with it. To me, this movie does feel like the Disney version of ultra violent sci-fi horror - in a good way. (Especially since at least in Sweden, it streams on Disney+)
Actually, the French burned the trees because they figured out that the ashes in the air would interfere with its cloaking device. There's a moment, where you can see it rubbing the ashes in its fingers trying to figure out what this stuff is that's messing with its cloaking.
This really shows that throwing buckets of money primarily in FX as per the last few Predator movies makes it flashy but not interesting or captivating, using natural light while filming on location saved on production costs and spending on a good screenplay, FX where needed and a really good cast without that one major star that would have driven the cost a few million can and is successful without theater release or big dollar marketing
After this watching this movie I started fancasting Amber Midthunder as Kushala the spirit Rider which is a version of ghost Riderinto the MCU also Dakota Beavers as Jason Strongbow aka American Eagle into the MCU
By FAR the best Predator movie and it's not even close. ONLY thing that sucked about this movie was that it didn't go on the big screen. Should've been out in theatres.

One other thing - does she count as a dentist since she pulled one of the Predator's teeth? Also, the orange flower - while I'm fairly sure that was just made up [not positive] but I have a bit of, let's say casual, background in herbs [mostly Chinese but some European] and there are herbs which will "slow" the blood, and there are herbs that drop your body temperature - these are traditionally used to help slow or stop bleeding and to treat high fevers - so the orange flowers fit well with actual herbalogy, though typically I'd expect a mix of 2 or 3 herbs for that sort of effect, but it is believable. That also means that along with helping to make her hard to see, that herb would likely make her bleed less - probably also reduce inflammation and maybe help take the edge off of pain.
I loved this movie so much -- but after John Wick, I wish movies like this would open with a simple note of "The dog will not die." (Anne Rice did this in one of her Vampire Chronicles books -- Upon the introduction of a dog, Lestat wrote that he was just a dog, he wasn't going to die or save the day.)
Somewhere between this movie and Pred 2. End of Pred 2, elder Pred gives Danny Glover a black powder pistol. Dated 1719. Meaming the Preds came back, killed lots of natives and got that black powder pistol. To give to Danny Glover 300 years later......
Couple of things to go over, Love your reaction to this. How involved and stressed you were, as indicated by the hair tugging. Kinda suspired you did not see the skinned buffalo and immediately realize it was humans who were the monsters there. So glad the best Boi survived. Great seeing you post so much, with this and Kobra Kai, but it is interfering with Expanse reactions. Well the dog was the only character in jeopardy. Her brother was the mentor that had to die and the French guys and Comanche warriors were under-developed fodder. That was a difference between Prey and all other Predator movies. The others had an ensemble cast that you could care a little bit about and therefore their deaths had meaning (well except for The Predator where they establish the main ensemble as idiots and or assholes). In Prey, it was only the dog whose fate was uncertain.
really enjoyed this movie and thought it was a good addition to the franchise but nothing still beats the original for me. if i had to rank them i would say that prey is in third place with predator 2 while predators from 2010 still takes second place in my top 5.
Her name is Amber Midthunder. And yes, I hope we do get to see more of her in stuff in the future. She certainly has the ready-made (Marvel) superhero name down-pat. X-23, anyone? (Sorry, Dafnee Keen. I still love ya, and hope Feige comes back to you for the role, ....but just in case they wanna go in a different direction....)
"I don't think he's edible." Creepily enough, in the extended lore, the Yautja are apparently very edible. 😅 If you eat their organs/drink their blood, it has rejuvenating effects and can even slow the aging process/prolong your life! Super gross, though.
Canonically. This was the first ever time that the Yautja (name of the predator species) arrived and hunted on Earth. It is likely that many other predators hunted all over the world at the same time as this one. Hunt for better and bigger throphies so that at the end of the hunt, they could show off their hunting skills and trophies to their clan members and clan leader. This is actually most likely a member of the Lost Angels Hunting Group. A clan from the second movie who are named that because they hunted in Los Angeles, lead by the legendary Elder Predator known as Grey Back. The Lost Angeles hunting group are most likely the clan who own the rights to Earth as their hunting grounds, along with Jungle Hunter Clan. It is likely that they are either fighting over territory or they share it. But we do know that most clans don't really like to share...

I didnt see it like a woke movie. Its a good movie with a well developed protagonist, It happens to be a woman.
@@WasoTremere That’s kind of the point, though. “Woke” movies aren’t actually a thing. There’s good movies with diversity and bad ones. That’s it.
@@BoboftheOldeWays Yeah, no ... There most definitely are 'woke' movies. Sadly fucking up the playing field for pretty damn good ones like this one. You can't deny that there are plenty of movies and TV series out there lately that do things specifically to be 'woke'. No matter how much it destroys the story or franchise.
as this was filmed in canada, there were lots of aboriginal people on the production but locals and not comanche.
That’s it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you're ever in the mood to watch this again, Hulu also offers a Comanche language dub which really adds to the experience.
And a nice diversion with the mud to make the fans think they were going to use the mud to hide her too
She didn't have to hear about Tabbis bow string getting wet she knew what happens when abowstring gets wet and their bowsrngs would be animal sinue
@@michaelhughes838 the exposition was for the people watching to see it
Some idiot at Hulu or Fox made a big mistake of not releasing this in the movie theater! Amber MidThunder rocked she was awesome! Also the cinematography and music of this movie was beautiful especially the wide open landscape scenes.
I’m really glad you finally got to see “Prey” and loved it. I knew you would. This is my favorite movie I’ve seen this year. I think it even beats out “The Batman.”
The Comanche were in Wyoming in the 1600s, but their many bands migrated South and lived in the Southern Great Plains by the 1800.
I love her pentagram necklace!!! She know what's up.
Snake nervous system. I killed a lot of moccasins in the south east Texas rice feilds, they would keep moving until sunset.
Not entirely true - they're carnivores, so they'll kill to feed, too. The one in Predator 2 (linked to this movie!) had its hiding spot in the slaughterhouse region of LA, and ate from the carcasses in storage there.
@@snorpenbass4196 of course they kill for food as well. But their kills always have purpose.
Everyone says that...until they watch The Thing.
@@jasoncaldwell5627 Oh they say that at the beginning of The Thing...but then "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT DOG?!?!"
I know right. It's a constant in any reaction with an animal. 'Nothing better happen to the animal' with people dying left and right. Priorities, am I right?
@@dam_ly Until the animal attacks/kills a kid (Jaws) then its all like "AHH! Kill that thing!"
@@jasoncaldwell5627 Well you know I was thinking the same thing I was about to post it
This was Taabe's actor's first role in a major movie. He did great, I think.
Wow he really did!
The dog's real name is Coco and she's a good girl! Didn't follow directing but got a bigger role due to audience reactions.
She also did the score to Assassin's Creed: Valhalla which was just as good.
Awesome reaction Angela!! I knew this would be right up your alley! I absolutely loved this movie!! Everything was well done! Story, visuals, music score!! Chefs kiss!! Really enjoyed your reaction!
One of my favourite movies for a while. I also laughed out loud when you said “if anything happens to that dog..”
However, there are two possible scenarios of what happens after they get the body:
1: either they wipe out the village to maintain their existence a secret.
But they're forgetting that Arnie didn't use any modern weapons, he had to cover himself in mud and use ingenuity.
loved this movie and your reaction to it. on a fun note, i've seen several people react to it, and almost 100% open with "the dog better not die"
Literally every reaction they say "nothing better happen to that dog" lol
Facts about Prey
1. The Predator is played by a former basketball player turned stuntman
2. The flintlock is from Predator 2 with Danny Glover
3. Some characters have some quotes from the 1st Predator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger
4. This Predator is primitive and less advanced technology and starts to learn new ways how to fight and kill new ways
LOL
Sorry, bit of a ramble there. Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to your next Expanse reaction! (That's what led me to your channel) Have a nice day. :)
Oh, P.S.
During the "French fight" she says: "Oh it wasn't that guy, dammit."
Me: just wait for it. 😈
And my fave line... I am smarter than a Beaver.
This was shot in Kananaskis Country in Alberta. I've been there and it is stunningly beautiful.
Also you jump scare good😱
Great reaction👍
If nothing else this film made me appreciate the acting abilities of Amber Midthunder more. Even tho I loved her in Legion. Which I recommend you watch.
Love this movie! Love this reaction! Love the Dog!
I hadn't seen this one until last week and it prompted me to run through all Predator and Alien movies in chronological order (ignoring any timeline or storyline discrepancies!) and enjoying them all.
Fun fact: the dog was a rescue from a local shelter. He wasn't a professionally trained hollywood dog.
" I would say word to the wise, is like dont scream every time youre going to attack" THIS one of my biggest pet peeves for the tropes. Infuriating when a character is off screen about to save another character by shooting the villain and right before yells "HEY!". New scream is guilty of this so many times.
Guess I’ll stop badgering you about watching this movie hehe. 😏
Blessed be!
I told you it was coming 😅😅
@@funnylilgalreacts Indeed 😊
Had to wait before watching your full review (was at work).
Some trivia, as I geeked out about this movie 😁
- was filmed by Calgary Alberta, Canada (my home country)
- the actor that played her brother; this is his first role
- the lead producer is from the Comanche Nation
- hearing the Comanche dub of the movie (English subtitles) was awesome
- apparently the doggo was a chore to work with as she was a rescue find.
Hahaha 🤣😂 "I don't think a dog can out run a bear" the dog said I don't have to outrun a bear, I just have to outrun you! 😆
Been enjoying all the content. Merry Christmas Angela! ❄️
Finally some one who recognizes that the dog was herding the dear rather than a stupid comment saying she can't outrun a deer
It was gorgeous!
@@funnylilgalreacts i was most curious to see the drone shots as i couldn't see the drone feed on set. only three scenes had parts shot in studio. so almost all of it was shot on location.
Loved this movie, almost as much as the original. it's set in the great plains and was filmed on the Stony Nakota nation near Calgary, Canada.
I really liked how you kinda knew what could be a tomahawk. I respect what you could learn next. Intuition works well here. It's always the little things to become a great hunter. Good job 👏👍
The only other thing I've seen Amber in is the show Legion on FX, where she also plays a fighty action girl.
I like how this movie fake teases the mud for people who've seen the first Predator movie, but ends up finding a different way to use it in the end.
the snake moving after dead is actually accurate, not after that long dead though, a lot of people get bit after decapitating venomous snakes and then trying to grab the head as a souvenir or getting too close to it
Late comment and this likely has already been answered but…
The reason for the scorched terrain in that scene is because the French burnt the woods to remove the use of concealment from their opponent.
Finally a reactor smart enough to see ahead into the story
A quick note, this Yautja is a young blood so this was basically his first big trial just like it was hers.
By now, the doggie should have a sign under his neck: "nothing will happen to me" lol.
Movies in the series I recommend watching:
Predator (Already Seen)
Predator 2
Alien vs Predator (Not Canon) - Recommend watching regardless as it's just a fun movie.
Predators
Also Dark Horse comics has a bunch of really cool Predator comic books with a series where Batman goes up against a Predator in Gotham which I would love to see in live action.
Avp is its own timeline just not connected to the predator or alien solo films. But yeah this movie was solid but the first 2 were better overall.
I forgot about the attack/explosion when she was in the tree with the lion which now the fire makes total sense
we made a lot of extra money because of how many extra takes had to be shot cause of that dog (actually two dogs).
Comanche Territories: northwestern Texas and the surrounding areas of New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, southwestern Kansas, western Oklahoma, and northern Chihuahua.
In the early 1700's they were also present in the northern great plains before completely moving south.
I think the French burned the trees to make a clearing to take away the Predator's cover.
Actually, the French burned the trees because they figured out that the ashes in the air would interfere with its cloaking device. There's a moment, where you can see it rubbing the ashes in its fingers trying to figure out what this stuff is that's messing with its cloaking.
@@operative2136 I think you give them too much credit.
Great reaction. I love the pentagram necklace!!!
By FAR the best Predator movie and it's not even close. ONLY thing that sucked about this movie was that it didn't go on the big screen. Should've been out in theatres.
Hi Reactor 👍🏼its good that you started the predator journeys on PREY because its the number 1 as started from 1719 👍🏼❤️🇸🇪 THX for a good reaction on the PREY🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪
Enjoyed your reaction, well watched,lol.😅😊
Somewhere between this movie and Pred 2. End of Pred 2, elder Pred gives Danny Glover a black powder pistol. Dated 1719. Meaming the Preds came back, killed lots of natives and got that black powder pistol. To give to Danny Glover 300 years later......
Once again your reaction made my day 👍 keep it up and never change!!!
The star of this also just had a guest episode on Reservation Dogs, and it was a completely different role
So happy to see you finally watch this!
Couple of things to go over,
Love your reaction to this.
I do not know who your editor is, if you could find you way to let them out of the dungeon would be great. I honestly feel we would get along well.
Canada, I think north central part is where this film was shot. Someone please let me know which Providence it is in Canada.
Even the 'Beaver' remark was clever.
3:35-3:43 I'm no historian but I'm pretty sure that the word "tomahawk" is perfectly acceptable.
First episode of Legion blew me away!! So unique!
LMAO I do the same hum at every movie, with the studio opener!!! Hmmm, Hmmm, Duh Duh, DA DA DA, etc! And I can entirely do Back to the Future theme with my voice and mouth. Weird I know but funny to me.
John Wick has made us all fear for the dog. Almost no film has killed a dog since Old Yeller, but Daisy is still a fresh wound.
Great reaction, as always. Thank you.
really enjoyed this movie and thought it was a good addition to the franchise but nothing still beats the original for me.
if i had to rank them i would say that prey is in third place with predator 2 while predators from 2010 still takes second place in my top 5.
She knew where to go, because she knew that is why Beavers build dams
Love your reactions, you make me chuckle 🤭
"I don't think he's edible." Creepily enough, in the extended lore, the Yautja are apparently very edible. 😅 If you eat their organs/drink their blood, it has rejuvenating effects and can even slow the aging process/prolong your life! Super gross, though.
I'm pretty sure this movie was shot in Calgary
Great and genuine reaction!
In Predator II we learned they are hunters, that do it for sport. They only want skeleton trophy's from other predators.
"Oh, it's the pooper." 💎
This director also did 10 Cloverfield lane, you absolutely gotta see it. 90% on rotten tomatoes. This one was 93%.
