    impressive value canvas micarta and aus 8 isn't the worst steel by a long shot.

    I personally like the rough handle finish. It’s definitely grippy. For a budget knife to beat around on the property or for work it does the job. Would I put my life on it for survival in the wild? No. But if it’s all I had it would have to do. So I’d say it’s a 5 out of 10 blade. Not too chintzy not too expensive and easily available.

    Aus8 is known for being tough, but not so good at edge retention; it's still a half-decent budget steel though. I look forward to seeing your testing of this knife. 👍Thanks for sharing, take care and Cheers!

      @@peterbiltknifeguyAus8 is the equivalent of 440B, which is the steel Randall uses for their stainless steel line. But Aus8 has more vanadium than chromium than 440B, which reduces stain resistance slightly but increases wear resistance and edge retention.

    Got this knife a couple months ago, not bad for the price, don’t like that type of sheath at all, maybe good as a backup knife, so far has performed well but still have to use it more, jury is still out. Gonna get a leather sheath for it if I can.

    The look of the knife is really good; nice clean design. If they bumped up the steel a little and got rid of that cheesy end piece, this thing would be amazing. I don't even mind the cheap plastic sheath. Thank you for the video!

    I bought 1 of those a few weeks ago.. so far it's not bad.. I don't like the sheath because of the rotating belt clip.. but the knife is good

    Hey PBKG, newer to the channel I the past couple weeks. I’ve been watching your back catalog of video, which I enjoy your takes.
    To the point, yes that euc is tough.
    The only time eucalyptus tried to kill me “Final Destination”-style was when one of those big ass shallow-rooted trees fell so silently as to only make a windy “whoosh” sound as it fell behind me onto my carport right over my vehicle just as I had exited my vehicle and was walking away.
    Looking back about ten feet away from that mf’er I thought, “Good luck, chainsaw.” 😅😂

    I got one about a year ago. It's definately worth $40 but it does have some issues. The handle is like holding a brick and produes hot spots with extended use. I'm not a fan of the red aluminum handle insert, it sjould just be one solid piece of steel or at least be black or match the handle. The belt clip should rotate 360° and it needs to be tighter where it is connected to the sheath because when you wear it on your belt, it spins around and the handle ends up being horizontal all by itself or it should be stationary so it doesn't move. With the belt clip being where it is, it makes the whole package handle heavy, which is why it spins around on it's own. The sheath needs ti be extended and the clip closer to the end on the handle to fix this. While the heat treat is decent enough, it could be a little better. I feel like it needs sharpened a little more often than it should. Also the firesteel should be on either the opposite edge or on the flat side of the sheath. Being where it is, it gets in the way of pushing the knife out if the sheath and it seems to always be getting snagged on my clothes and catching on things. I realize it's only $40 but a few design changes and it would be a much better knife and they could keep the price where it is. Overall, it's a decent enough knife for the money. There are definately worse knives that cost way more. You really can't complain too much for what you get for the price you get it. Looking forward to seeing you test this one and see your thoughts about it.

    Its not full tang. The last screw goes through the tang, but the way its cut to allow the red aluminum piece to be fitted onto it creates a weak point in the handle. Its still not a bad knife for 40.

    You nailed the pronunciation. It means ‘steely.’

  • @HollywoodTacticool
    @HollywoodTacticool 7 месяцев назад +1

    pronounce: shtell-lehrn. "stahl" means steel. and the ending makes it an adjective. for us, both the noun and adjective are both just "steel". so, we could translate it as "made of steel" or "steel-ish" lol

    Decent looking knife…why the separate aluminum piece with lanyard hole? that’s weird…save $10 by using a true full tang…

  • @powers1776reset
    @powers1776reset 7 месяцев назад +3

    The aluminum piece is stupid. Why tf do that, instead of just doing it right 🤦🏼‍♂️ make the lanyard red, if they insist on having a red color break in there, but ffs, at least do what you wrote that you did, on the fking box😂

    • @jimbusmaximus4624
      @jimbusmaximus4624 7 месяцев назад +1

      It's pointless, all it does is create a weak point that could fracture. From an engineering view, if you hammered on something the red aluminum MIGHT be soft enough to dent and save the weak point in the steel from damage, but leaving it a full tang would have resolved that.
