The Packers believed their preseason hype. The whole team was emotionally flat, no excitement, no passion, no effort. They didn't give Aaron Jones enough touches, the Defense didn't give up a ton of yards, but were in zones, with 8 to 10 yard cushions all day long. That's NOT the Packers defensive strength. They made adjustments and stomped the Lions.
Saints deserve all the credit. Nobody thought they would do this especially after all that they went through this offseason. And they weren’t even playing with their best DT and a rookie at CB
Thank you, finally someone that understands that Saints deserved the credit. Yes Rodgers played awful but that’s because the Saints read him like a book the entire game
The disrespect on the Saints defensive in this game is insane. People are acting like the Packers offense willing lost this game when the Saints defense had an answer for just about ever play the Packers ran. Thank you for putting this out there!
Thank YOU man! Yeah, I wouldn't be too worried about it.. but Rodgers falling off a bit was easily predictable before the season anyways. His 9.0 TD% was guaranteed to regress
@@AlexRollinsNFL How did he, and the offense overall, look week 2? Yes, it's the Lions, but in the NFL every team has talent, and Detroit will win games they're expected to lose. The Packers made adjustments to play calling, changes to route combinations, personnel usage on both sides of the ball, and more tight man, less zone with an 8 yard cushion. Tonight's game will be interesting and informative!
Fantastic vid! I feel like the single game format for your videos really shine, starting from beginning to end to get the whole picture. Also when you explained Williams' play for the INT, I thought of Ed Reed too! And that unbelievable play he made against Peyton and Reggie Wayne.
Thanks Alex! Yeah I agree, I get to watch the film several times whereas for the broader topics I'm watching a few games just once. Williams really really impressed me on that play, he knew what was happening before it even went down!
They'll be 4-4 sitting in third place mid-season with everybody calling it the end of the Rodgers era, then they'll go on an 8-1 run and take the division like they do every year.
The Saints offense played good, but they had the gift of great field position and some lucky calls goin their way to prevent turnovers. This was just a defensive gameplan masterclass.
Alex, my birthday is in two Saturdays, Oct. 2nd. Any way if convincing you to make a 49ers video for that weekend? What am I saying? Any video by you will be a gift.
Yea, basically, the Titans and Packers got WAY out coached and got smacked in the mouth in so many ways before they could adjust… expect rebound explosions in response
This was basically the regular season Tampa Bay and Green Bay match up from last year. One team was prepared and one wasn’t. Ultimately, great job Saints but we’re on to week 2
Even after today, they should never be slept on. Defense is the same, and they'll be solid when MT comes back. Just need a WR to step up in the meantime
You had to make this one just for me Alex 😂 lol. Us Saints fans were on cloud 10 all week. Even we didn't predict that. I was worried about our players being away from home and some having their homes destroyed, how that could play out mentally. But kudos to Sean Payton, staff and every player for staying focused and executing. We will be a problem this year. New pieces but mostly veterans who've all played together on defense with a coordinator like Dennis Allen who's been with us since 2015. Jameis being in the best position to win with a winning ball club, sky is the limit. Excellent breakdown as usual. #WhoDat
@@AlexRollinsNFL tell me about it bro lol. We'll bounce back. Hats off to Carolina for beating us in the trenches and knowing our playbook. We'll have our coaches back next week. The ebbs and flows of the regular season 😩
There is an issue that they fall behind and there is no counter attack they just roll over. I cannot tell if they don't make adjustments or the players just pack it in cause it is not their week.
The answer absolutely does NOT lean towards the latter (schematic). The Jones short crosser against the Lions that worked is virtually the same play as the next clip against the Saints. Rodgers just waits way too long to get him the ball and by then Jones is against the sideline and can't cut upfield. On the play at 2:30 Marcedes is open right away for a short time, but again Rodgers doesn't get to him or doesn't like it, and doesn't get to the backside where MVS is open for a big play. Instead of throwing it away, he eats it and takes a huge sack on first down. Rodgers stunk on Sunday. Florida Rodgers is a real thing. That being said, the rest of the team also stunk, they couldn't run the ball, D was hot garbage, etc. But to say that the scheme was worse than Rodgers...c'mon man.
Yeah, the bias was obvious when he said the pick at 9:30 wasnt Rodgers fault because Cam Jordan was coming... So like, every hurried throw is the right choice now? When did we stop saying QBs need to have poise under pressure?
Just watched the goff video after watching this one, how similar of a situation was the goff situation to what Kyle Shanahan is dealing with in SF with Jimmy G right now?
week 1 definitely is not the week to install new concepts and formations on offense. so if you catch an L so be it but I wouldn't put anything new on film this early in the season.
I disagree, week 1 is the week where you show an altered version of whatever you did last year. You've had all offseason to install tweaks/altered concepts, why sit on them for an entire week?
@@AlexRollinsNFL Just what i've noticed and seems to work building up to your bye later in the season. Packers Titans Giants and Bears a few teams that were very predictable week 1. Dolphins and Patriots as well, looked like clones of each other a year ago. Today they looked very different especially, the Patriots and Titans. I guess i'll have to see how the others approach week 2.
Some teams like to run it kind of as a pick play so perhaps myself calling it Mesh wasn't totally fair. They like to have the two frontside guys kinda picking off the receivers so the shallow can come open from the backside
@@AlexRollinsNFL makes sense since the one guy will almost certainly be open, but since Adam's pick was enough to make him open this particular play makes the extra picks look obsolete
Coaching staff of the Packers had their heads handed to them. How beautiful to watch the saints shut down a lazy game plan. Thought they could do the same boring crap and get away with it. 50 year fan
Saints were really well prepared and the Packers were the opposite. This is what happens when a bunch of small things go wrong in a league of professionals
We'll see Monday Detroit lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn came from the saints and also runs the 2 high safety concepts the saints ran week 1 against the Packers.
The second INT by Rodgers 100% was his fault. You are in field goal range. Your goal is to just not turn the ball over. He could have ate the sack and lived for another down. Instead he tried to play hero ball and threw an awful pass
I think the Packers biggest 'woes' come from this being arguably the worst o-line Rodgers has ever had. I think this shows how important o-line has been for the Packer's past success
The packers usually beat the crap out the team they play after losing, they get back into focus, I wish they stayed on focus, its always painful to watch when they get away from their scheme I think this game is more about how the Saints planned incredibly well gs the packers were awful
A great analysis. I think you are mistaken about the amount of talent they have on D. It is Alexander, a couple of Smiths who seemed to have peaked, and a bunch of JAGs. Their problem is that whenever the offense does not play lights out, the team is hosed. Regardless of field position, giving up five TDs to a Winston led, Thomas-less offense, is just very bad. And they were not good against the run game last year, and nothing has changed. I think they will certainly win the division-it looks like the second weakest in the NFL-but they will not get very far as a one trick (Rogers to Adams) pony.
Rodgers morale is down the pipe. His is going to play like this to make the team trade him . You going to see the real Rodger in other team not in the Packers uniform .
