- Welcome to our new favorite hike in all of Oahu - the Lanikai Pillbox Hike! This incredible trail is the embodiment of Hawaii's natural beauty, and in this vlog, we're thrilled to share with you more of what this island has to offer. Lanikai Pillbox Hike:
❗️IMPORTANT:
There is no designated parking area for this hike! If you are lucky you can find parking along Kaelepulu Drive however, this parking is in a residential neighbourhood, so please be respectful of the locals and do not block driveways or park in front of fire hydrants! If parking is full, you can park at Kailua Beach which is about a 20 minute walk away from the start of the hike.
🗺️ DIRECTIONS:
- Take H-1W to HI-61 to Kailua Road in Kailua
- Continue on Kailua Road
- Drive to Kaelepulu Drive
OR
- Start at Kailua Beach
- Turn left on Alala
- Follow road into Lanikai, where it turns into A’alapapa Drive via Mokulua Drive
- The second right is Ka’elepulu Drive

Love Hawaii. The most beautiful place on earth. They have it all in the Hawaiian Islands from tundra climate to tropical climate (more than 12 koppen climate zones in Hawaii) and the food is amazing too

Glad you both enjoyed your stay! I usually eat the lomi salmon with the kalua pig, they go well together. As for the short ribs, it’s almost like a jerky because they dry the meat out first then fry them. Hope to see you guys back again soon! Mahalo!

The ribs are called pipikaula(kinda like beef jerky version) and best when fresh and hot.
Lomi salmon is "raw" (kinda like hawaiian salsa 😅)

Just a word of caution regarding parking in Kailua. Please be respectful of the residents who live in the area. Don't block driveways or park illegally. FYI, during certain weekends parking is prohibited on Lanikai streets.

Hi I found ur channel while searching for Hawaii videos as my family n I are planning a trip there this yr. With so many places to see n explore what do you think is the best place to stay, as far as location? we are a family of 4 with 2 children under 10. This would be our 1st time visiting so I’m Just wondering what u would recommend 😊 I love ❤ur volgs
I had Helena's in our plans for our upcoming trip, but I somehow missed their opening hours until I saw your video. We will only be in that neighborhood on two Saturdays, so it looks like Helena's will not work this trip. Heard good things also about Rainbow Drive In. It will have to do until we can try Helena's. Thanks for posting the times. Helped me with my planning.

This time of year, it will rain almost every day in the morning and make sure that you can park on the streets (some days there are no street parking).also the beaches are calm on this side of island. (Also not sure why this year it is colder than normal)
