I travel there twice in 2019 and literally made it back home in early 2020 when Covid hit. Idk if things have changed but I recommend getting the EZ link card for the MRT. It’s what the locals use and if I remember correctly, it was $5 per card and you can top it up whenever you want. It’s much cheaper and more flexible if you plan to stay longer that a week in Singapore. I used the same card when I came back to Singapore on my second trip.
You used to be able to purchase the single-use tickets from the automated kiosk machines in the past, but they have begun to phase them out in favor of other payment methods. You don't actually have to purchase a ticket, you can simply use your credit cards (Master/Visa) or Apple/Samsung/Google Pay for any transport payments in Singapore.
We visited Singapore in July, we were surprised too. It has become my favorite city/country! Way better than anything here in the USA! It was so clean and felt safe. Everything was organized. The shopping malls were awesome.

*I’m a true bred Singaporean. I would not recommend Singapore as a tourist destination. Everything in Singapore is so expensive. From housing to shopping to food. Our leaders have spiked up the cost of everything and makes it not affordable. It only caters for the rich and wealthy and not forgetting foreign expats. Middle or average income families are struggling to make ends meet. You will see our senior citizens financially poor collecting cardboard boxes for a living. People says Singapore is a great city is just a facade to boost tourism. This is my honest opinion. No fraud*
Think you should leave, migrate overseas since you are so unhappy and bitter about living there. Fact is over 18 million international visitors go to Singapore a year, it is a great tourist destination, however you feel.
Danish Qaril is not a Singaporean name. And which true blooded Singaporean will tell others not to visit. Everything is so expensive you say but people know its only expensive for expatriates with fancy lifestyles. Transportation, food are easily accessible, relatively cheap and affordable for locals even for foreigners if they avoid expensive restaurants. Inflation is affecting countries all over the world due to disruption in supply chain as a result of war. It not not created, made by the government who has taken measure to ensure effects are contained, and financial packages are implemented for the lower segment of society. Singapore is not a welfare country and no one owes anyone a living. Working for one's upkeep and not rely on hand outs is dignified and respected. There are some less fortunate people but there are many government schemes to help those truly down and out and genuinely deserving of assistance. And there are numerous charity and civic organizations to help them too. Your comment is just politically driven. who would put their country down to foreigners. Real fraud.
If Singapore is so expensive, then how come 80% of us can afford to own a flat with clean and well maintained environment. We have very low crime rate, good and cheap food in hawker centres that costs sgd 4 and lots of greenery. As for old ladies collecting cardboards for a living, many of them are doing it because they do not want to just live on handouts from the government. For your info, Singapore government takes care of its people. We have utilities subsidies, medical subsidies, free vaccination shots, subsidized childcare facilities , subsidized worker training programmes to help those who want to upgrade ourselves. Compared to nations who gives handouts to citizens who refused to work n depend on welfare checks at the expense of taxpayers, or corruption and vices widely spread, we are glad that Singapore scored well..tough laws exists here . Call us pragmatic but not robotic . We also have benefits for the pioneer generation ...people who are now old but had contributed to the success of Singapore , they enjoy subsidized medical care, several top ups to their medisave accounts, tax relief are given for those who takes of aged parents etc. This is why you see few homeless in Singapore. Those u did see are people who does not want to stay in welfare facilities because of their personal reasons. Some of these aunties collecting cardboards are not poor, they even own a flat. Even the agedvwithout families who lives in rental units are often given food vouchers or we have volunteers checking up on them to ensure their wellbeing. We even have a law that gives abandoned parents the right to obtain maintenance costs from unfillial childen. We are not a perfect country but compared to our neighbouring countries, for a country without resources and limited land, i think we did well or even fared better. Comparing infrastructure building, our transport system fared better than big cities such as NYC or LA. Our housing flats are maintained well by the government. This is why sg is clean. We have zero tolerance towards drugs and guns. As women, we walk the streets late at night without fear of getting robbed or mugged. Criminals must think twice because of our tough laws of canning for rapists and even death penalty for drug traffickers. Everything has a price tag to it. We valued the rights of the innocents more than the human rights of the criminals. It is self delusional to think equality exists in this world. Countries who are welfare driven will be doing it at the expense of its tax payers. Countries with huge disparity between the rich n poor have exploitation of the poor and corruption. Go beyond the tourist spots in Singapore, visit the heartland areas where the common people lives, you will see that many singaporeans considered ourselves lucky to live in a clean n safe country where no one starves to death as long as we are willing to work.
The government don't spike up the cost of everything, don't u have any knowledge of economics, geopolitics, world logistics issues, Singapore size? Your argument totally don't sound logical. If they are, we can accept, but don't create wrong ideas with your limited superficial arguments.
@@brchlsa69 Well said! I live in USA for 40 yrs now as a legal citizen and we middle class struggles, on everything.
USA partake on other county's war and take in all the refugees, gives them free housing, free food and health care. While many of us work double jobs and still starve. USA is an illegal drug infected country. I wish I am still young and I would definitely go to Singapore to work and live there.
Looks so ungrateful
😅
Any mask wearing is a joke. Total embarrassment any place asking for masks. It's over. Never was
I agree
