It's so hard to believe the incredible Eric Carmen is gone. I loved his music. I was blessed to be able to see him in concert a few times. He was a fantastic singer and songwriter, a beautiful voice. I lost my first love when this song played. I also lost all my friends who warned me if I went back to her, they wouldn't be my friends any more. I was age 18. I cried my eyes out alone in my room for 6 months. It was the first time that I was truly all by myself. It was so painful and I felt so helpless.

I'm a fan from Europe and I didn't know all this information before his death. He was definitely not treated well and I think he was outcast as early as the 80's, before the events you mention. I don't know the reasons, maybe he wasn't that sociable...If anyone knows more details please let us know. Every song he’s written has classical underpinnings - if you listen very closely, they are there. Sometimes in the harmonization or the counterpoint going on in the instrumentation! 👍🏻❤️🎶
